For some reason, these were the start of the PERFECT years of Nascar, like 1986-91 (when I was a little kid and started watching). Then 92-mid 2000s was amazing as well. If I was a kid now I don’t think I’d like it

At the 250 mark, Bob Jenkins mentions that 3 of the top five, AK, Lake Speed and Sterling Marlin haven't won a race. Lake Speed would win a few weeks later at Darlington, and AK would win at Phoenix in 1988. Marlin had to wait until 1994.
A week earlier than this race, Neil Bonnett, Bobby Allison and Dave Marcis finished 1-2-3 in the Goodyear NASCAR 500 (km...or 310 mi) at the Calder Park Thunderdome in Melbourne, Australia (Bonnett beat Allison by 0.86 seconds after 280 laps). It was the first NASCAR race held outside of North America. The Thunderdome (which cost $54 million Australian to build from 1984-87) was modeled after the Charlotte Motor Speedway, though a bit shorter at 1.119 mi but with the same 24° banking in the turns. NASCAR's averaged around 140+ mph on the Aussie speedway. It was the first NASCAR-style track built outside of North America
@@exoticbutters4154 Nascar no longer exsist.... wokecar does.... the racing sucks, but its much more diverse then it ise to be... man, i was so upset every year from the late 80s into the early 90s watching king pettys decline. he was wrecking out from the back half of the races regularly and it sucked to watch sometimes
Real racing! Not the sissy shit that 'NASCAR' has become over the last twenty plus years. Real cars, real tracks, real racing and real men sawin' on them steerin' wheels! Jesus, how great Cup racing used to be. Not the politically correct, sissy shit it is today.
Old nascar is goated. Cars, tracks, broadcasters, graphics, even the cadence of ppl back then was just the best

Kids always enjoy the racing, they don't care about the little details. They just want racing!
Some people say the years 1978 - 88 were the best years.
Not if you’re a petty fan 😢
I really really love watching these old Nascar races a whole whole

Neil Bonnett's 18th and final career win also proved to be his 83rd and final career Top 5 finish
Neil Bonnett had such a unique personality.
Aww way to ruin it!
Had Neil Bonnett decided not to get back in a race car, he would have broadcasted for FOX SPORTS NET.
Miss Rockingham and N. Wilksboro
Did you watch the Wilkesboro race last week? Dale jr p3
NW is coming back
Wow, had no idea NASCAR visited Australia. They said in the telecast they were there the week before
Final win & final top 5 for Neil Bonnett
@Ray Escort That race was held 1 week before this race. It was a non-points race so didn't really count for anything

NASCAR needs to come back here
Its on you tube. The rest of the field was pretty much Winston West drivers. Hershel McGriff ran with leaders most of the day

@@exoticbutters4154 it's possible you'll see Nascar back with all the covid $
Would rather watch these races then nascar today
Dam straight 80s! Can't remember the last time i saw a Miller High Life logo or a Crisco cooking oil ona car.
Its not like the crap what you are watching now. It was when racing was cool to watch or go to.
The Pit Stops are hilariously terrible compared to today.
This was the race they finally kicked Nuber out of the booth.
Bring back the Rock !!!!!
Victory Lane interview presented by Goodyear....with the guy who won on Hoosiers 😂😂😂
Heh heh. Just like later on when Jeff Gordon won the Coca Cola 600 and was drinking a Pepsi in victory lane.

Great Race
Much better quality than cubs604's version, d00d!!!
Great race, so many potential winners thanks to Hoosier on many, um, stock cars
SMIFF TV, do you have the 1988 Motorcraft Quality Parts 500? If not, please try to find it & upload it for all of us...
back when nascar was fun to watch
It still is fun to watch, you stupid fuck.
get the fuck outta here you old bald-headed bastard
It was nice for awhile when Hoosier first came along
2:22
Don't put the winner in the THUMBNAIL PLEASE
Jacaso Asheland It seems he has already changed the thumbnail. (Not like this year's Great American Race back in February, NASCAR hint hint :P)
It's a shame they ruined nascar the way they did. Used to be so good. I'll watch replays over new races any day. And that makes me sad
The 2000s aka the ara the crashes started to appear

Nuber never impressed me behind the mic.
And he wouldn’t get another top five for the rest of the season. And only one more top ten
He had a Top 10 at Riverside and 3 Top 10s in the fall, Richmond, Dover and Charlotte. But overall, his season really hit the skids after this win....
