@@user-hf3eb8lj5g It is expensive and cheap. There are pockets of ghettos/crime and pockets of super expensive abodes. Everything is more expensive there than further out, just like any big city. Those posh areas like Milton and Johns Creek are all expensive and exclusive.
Don’t know if you live in Georgia. There are two parts of Decatur. One is unincorporated which is next to Lithonia and Stone Mountain (not the best places to live but got some hidden gems). The other is the actual city (which I think he is talking about) that is next to Avondale Estates and east part of Atlanta. What he said is true but it is very expensive, and because nothing is too far and try to keep everything in their little communities, they have a problem with congestion.

i worked in Augusta for 8mon and it was amazing, people are so nice! and i miss them! they are waiting for me to get a contract again and because if them ill do it soonest again!
I agree with most of this list, although I was shocked that Suwannee didn't make it. I believe at one point it was voted as one of the best places in the entire U.S. to live. Schools are definitely a driving factor. That's the reason why nowhere in Clayton County or DeKalb County (Decatur has its own school system independent of Dekalb) will ever make this list.
By choosing Atlanta seems you've chose the busiest not the best (in my opinion). Not everyone wants to retire to a city... In fact it's usually the opposite.
I live south of Macon, visited Atlanta many times for sporting events and would never move there for any reason. Traffic is awful, drugs everywhere, panhandling on every corner/on-off ramp, and crime is off the charts. Would not move to Savannah either, one of my kids attended SSU, he and seven of his friends were robbed at gun point on campus. Chatham county has a bad meth problem and it is pretty much a dump.
@@daclass1985 IF you dont need low cost housing or susbsidized housing, if you have a remote internet job St Simons Island is beautiful...jobs are only available in hospitality and pay is low in that field....
@@daclass1985 Sybil is right, St. Simons is great. It really depends if you like the city or the country, but since you are not married and young I am guessing you would want more of a night life. If you like the beach and just have to be near the shore I would recommend Bluffton SC, not GA but right across the border from Savannah. If you want land some of the cheapest I have seen is in the Cochran/Montrose area although it is starting to grow in those cities. Peachtree City is also nice, but expensive. Stay away from Macon, there are some nice areas there but I would avoid it altogether, just on the other side is Jones County that area is not bad. So those commenting, if you have kids and want to live in a safe neighborhood with your kids and want them to go good schools, what area do you recommend? I already knew Savannah or Atlanta. But what other towns are good housing areas that won’t break your pockets? I’m asking for myself because I got two children.
Gwinnett County as well as Cobb County is nice and they're safer then Atlanta and Savannah. Gainesville in Hall County is decent. Bartow County is really nice. Henry County is definitely nice.
Keep them out of public schools if you can afford it, especially in the major urban areas. It’s worth the investment. While there may be notable exceptions in some schools, as a whole the public education system is rotten.
I lived in Gwinnett co and Rockdale co back in 90s and they had great schools back then. Conyers was a great town to live in then. That was before the internet so not sure if changed since 1995. I moved to Kentucky then.

I’ve lived in Ga. all of my life. It truly is a beautiful state, but it is quickly becoming a shithole. My feet are tied here from parents and others my wife and I are having to care for, to work. If I wasn’t tied here, I would move tomorrow. They said that Atlanta is a great place to live? In crime, Atlanta ranks as one of the worst in comparison to cities of the same size. Albany Ga is just a small Atlanta and Valdosta isn’t much better. In another 5 years, the only thing good about Ga, will be the fact that it borders the panhandle of Florida. I will say this though. If you ever want to see true beauty, go to Helen Ga. and rent a cabin during the Fall season. You can sit on the porch of your cabin with a cup of coffee and the view of the red maple trees will take your breath away.

In Downtown Newnan tgere is numerous thriving local businesses, Market Days on the square & an extension of University of West GA at the old Hospital. There are Museums & the House Median for a new home is 300k plus
yes!!! Newnan and senoia are near each other and are very low crime rate with decently paying jobs its just in senoia there are more expensive houses than cheap but they still have them out there
I haven’t watched the video all the way through but the top three are high crime areas. Yes there are plenty of jobs but living in these areas depends on your income level.

Yeah Augusta is such a great place to live that everyone calls it Disgusta! Even a country song said "Augusta, GA is no place to be". If you like extreme boredom, high crime, and stinky polluted air, then it may be your place to be. Evans in neighboring Columbia County is ok but still part of the Augusta metro
Right on money other smaller towns that would be good for people to move to would be like in Gwinnett county Buford Suwanneeand Lawrenceville Enough where I live the pretty small towns that get forgotten in a lot of these lists are like coming Jasper ellijay blue ridge were the people who get forgotten on any list but we're good community up here in the north and good places to live for is visitors especially come through a lot it's more of a retirees when you move north where is if you move South the middle you're getting more of the middle class you move out towards Decatur and places like that you're moving more in the upper class Murrieta upper class like areas so you just have to pick what's best for your situation like I said before and I said again I live in Jasper because of my income and it suits me based on my needs of what I wanted so that's why I chose Jasper out of all the towns in Georgia to move to

You said despite the urban population. So explain how NYC with 8 million people living there is named one of the safest largest cities in the United States? Atlanta just has politicians that don't care about making the City safer and better for its residents and visitors.
Some of these choices are interesting. Have they even been to Georgia? Forsyth county is one of the fastest growing counties in the state along with Hall, Cherokee and Dawson. I would stay away from Atlanta and its close suburbs. Traffic is awful!
He's talking about the City of Decatur. He mentioned the best schools and that's definitely in the city of Decatur. That building in the video is the Dekalb County courthouse in downtown Decatur. It's more expensive than the rest of Decatur for a reason. I definitely like North Decatur too!

if it's Georgia then it should be John's Creek
Yeah but pretty expensive
I was born and raised in Thomasville and haven’t been back home in a few years ☹️ kinda miss it and the memories I had there
same I was born in Atlanta
I bought 34 acres in Elberton, GA. (near Athens) last year, and I LOVE it! Can't wait to move there from Florida, also known as The Hell Hole State
I am partial to the North Georgia Mountains....far, far away from Atlanta. I grew up there (Hiawassee)
Beautiful city
Racist area from my 6 years experience up there (college)
Elijay!
No thanks
It's amazing but hush so people don't ruin it
Most of the places on your list are just outside of Atlanta. Expensive!
What do you expect.
I’m surprised Atlanta is not the most expensive city in Georgia
Duluth and Decatur has some affordable places for middle and working class residents.
@@user-hf3eb8lj5g It is expensive and cheap. There are pockets of ghettos/crime and pockets of super expensive abodes. Everything is more expensive there than further out, just like any big city. Those posh areas like Milton and Johns Creek are all expensive and exclusive.
Very nice places in the world i love this country because im to much love the nature. Thanks to the vidios.
Sorry , I missed the last half of the video . I was too busy laughing at one of the choices being Decatur .
Decatur is too black for the little guy
What?? Columbus or Macon wasn't on the list. I'm surprised.
@@bigdinlaca you right, I have heard be careful while driving to Decatur. However, my my was blown away while I was in East Atlsnta side of Decatur. Beautiful houses and landscapes, the area are clean and safe,so people are so nice!
I laughed at this video also. I live in Gainesville, it's bad here as well but you couldn't beat the crap out of me to go further south of Gainesville. Moving back to Maynooth Canada in a year.

Milton, John’s Creek, Alpharetta & Duluth are adjoining.
And you have to be quite wealthy to live in or near any of those cities.
Exactly and also up to heavy traffic.

I love Georgia and live in Augusta, couple of observations are in order, nice formatted video but caters to the big income earners here in Augusta and in the places mentioned, people struggle, nice glossy video I drive school bus and yes the cost of living is lower here than other states and places I lived. My house was cheap but it is in the hood, and I am doing a complete remodel on it... but for the towns where 93k is the average, wow, must be all big tech jobs how do the service people make it there??
It stands to reason that the most well-to-do areas are also the most safest -- the ones with the least crime.
i worked in Augusta for 8mon and it was amazing, people are so nice! and i miss them! they are waiting for me to get a contract again and because if them ill do it soonest again!
Suwannee isn't that great either.
I want to move to Georgia but don't know where. What city do you suggest for a young man not married with no children.🤷🏾
Which, that is going to be Atlanta or Savannah but I still would not live in the city there are plenty of nice cities surrounding Atlanta. I live by Warner Robins, its nice but crowded, I would keep going past WR and look in Perry if you want to be in center GA.
@@CardinalsXerces Thank you so much! To be honest I'm a work and home type of guy. I'm not looking for any type of night life. I'm definitely screenshoting your response and will hold on to this information as I think it will be helpful in my move. I really appreciate it.
Evans GA outside of Augusta is also a great place to live.
Did anyone motice that good schools and low crime are features of RICH areas? Hmmm.
Not all areas that have good schools and low crime rates are in rich areas. Not everyone that lives in Duluth and Decatur are rich. A lot of people that live in those two suburbs are middle class and some are working class residents to.
Not true..many low crime working class small towns with good schools..
I wonder why
EXACTLY and did you see any black folk shown? I saw ONE! I live in Augusta where 50 percent is black and Georgia has a lot of blacks and they were def not represented here
Poverty breeds crime. I wouldn’t steel a loaf of bread if I can afford to buy it. Good schools because the rich neighborhoods pay more taxes for those schools
Suwanee, Lenox, Dacula, Braselton, Stockton...
I appreciate the video as I'm from Savannah. I lived in Augusta couple years and Atlanta for 14 years and I've been to alata Georgia's 'leave your heart there' towns and small cities. Athens, I agree. Augusta, there too. But Savannah and Atlanta are really rough in alata ways. You haf to 'learn how' to live in these two beautiful cities. Once you learn how, yes, I agree. tuonane. L
Gwinnett county schools, Suwanee ga is best place to live. Buford is nice as well. flowery branch which is also nice if you like to drive alittle ways like 15 min to stores.
A very subjective list. I live in Gainesville and love it.
Savannah is great and getting better everyday I love it here. We moved from the 4 corners of Colorado to a State I've never been it was rough a couple yrs ago but since Trump the economy has been great,I build alot.
Hello I live in Florida and I’m going to Georgia to celebrate my birthday. A little road trip with my boyfriend. I didn’t think about it that much because I believe I can handle my own, but my family kept telling me to be wary of racists. That’s if you’re not racist yourself. Do you consider Georgia a racist state? Maybe not as a whole but maybe some cities I should avoid?
@@NM-qf9zt Georgia is a melting pot with a lot of diverse people so I would say no. It’s not like the Deep South of Louisiana or Mississippi.

My friend is from Georgia and live on the coast. I'm from Alabama. they live in Kingsland. It's not super big but its beautiful. Theres a lot of water and grass and trees and when we drive to saint Marys the road that leads to the park where the river is is so beautiful. We drive on this road called denmark (correct me if im wrong) to get to their sister collage. Its just a long road with fields and the blue sky and bright sun. What i like about Camden (the county Kingsland and Saint Mary's is located) is that theres alot of nature and trees and i love seeing egrets which are those tall long white birds. Theres multiple kinds as well in the states!
Can you tell me Georgia is expensive country. Can a outsider survive there. Medication or education is expensive or not. Is there education or medication free?
Great advert for ATL suburbs. Good way to kee outsiders out of the good parts of the state. Augusta, savannah should be left off this list so they don’t get spoiled by Californians, Oregonians and New Yorkers

This review served me good memories on most of the cities , i lived in Marrieta Ga for 5 Good years, in the late 90s and early 2000's , now in Kenya , plan to visit in few years time
So those commenting, if you have kids and want to live in a safe neighborhood with your kids and want them to go good schools, what area do you recommend?

I agree Drove down I-85 from the north and Helen has some of the most beautiful countryside I've ever seen.
