This is fire but unfortunately as an American you’ve not quite got your UK ears yet…… it’s a bit hard to know the full significance of the track without knowing all the back story but keep going you might get it all…..

The thing with Chip is he’s NEVER claimed to be a “gangster” always kept it real and everyone knows that whenever someone needs attention in music scene his name gets called out most the time and he goes straight for the throat. Believe me you’ll love his diss tracks back and forth with certain artists. It’s funny cause I love stormzy but when it comes to the battling it’s Chip all day for me
If you wanna hear clashing. Listen to the beef between chip and Bugsy malone. Fire tracks back and forth. Chip released three tracks off the rip in a week in the end and decimated Bugsy but they both put their hearts into it and it was fire to witness.

You need to understand grime culture to understand the importance of time. In grime, you have 24 hours to respond, that’s it, if you don’t it’s generally accepted that you have given up. That is like me telling you how hip hop should work.

@@MUNFUProffitt Hip Hop evolved from funk and disco and Def Poets such as Gil Scott Heron, GRIME comes from Jungle and House & Garage and Reggae Dancehall music... GRIME still carries that Jamaican cadence, which is why GRIME MCs tend to rhyme in different pockets than Hip Hop artists, Ghetts is a perfect example... he slides into unusual pockets of the beat, which is hard to hear if you're not used to it, but when you get used to it... Damn!! I'm excited for you.... GRIME is beyond a 'beat' it's a culture!

Yea, it can def take time for some to "get their grime ears". Im from NY but having fam in England, i got turned on to Grime bac in like 07, so I've become accustomed to the different pockets they move in and out of. Chip is definitely one of tbose truly talented spitters
After Stormzy pulled up to Chip's house, with a car full of his goons, Chip released 2 diss tracks on the same day... Flowers and Killer MC!
I definitely recommend Flowers... it's the best "Stormzy diss track" from Chip! Plus, I think you'd prefer the beat and his flow.
I think you should definitely stay well away from Killer MC tho 😅... you don't seem to be a big fan of UK Grime, and the Killer MC beat is almost like an extreme/crazy kind of Grime beat, so for you old school hip hop ears, it probably won't be a very nice experience 😅

Chip is GRIME! Some people hate him but his pen game has been outstanding since I heard him when I was a teenager in East London.
This is one of my favourites other then 96 bars of revenge.

Rough Timeline,
Chip had a track with with "Skepta and Young Adz" called "Waze" with in-directs at another rapper called Mez, but it was ambiguous and could be construed to Stormzy.
Stormzy followed up with his own in-directs on a track called "I dunno ft Tion Wayne and Dutchavelli"
after this there was the house incident referenced,
next chip released to diss tracks, "Flowers" and "Killer MC"
"10 Commendents" was a response i believe to Stormzy on "Skengmen" with Ghetts
Theres has been a couple more later "Dave - Clash ft Stormzy" which chip responded with "Clash?"
Not sure if anymore beyond that.
Yeah 10 commandments & Clash? Was dropped less then 24hrs if then tracks being dropped, chip didn’t even let there tracks get some views before he dropped his bangers.

This is where it is important to understand that Grime isn’t Rap, it doesn’t follow the same rules. Grime is a much more techy genre than mainstream hip hop when it comes to what MCs can do with flows and pockets, wordplay too. Where you think Chip is just talking, trust us, he’s flowing maaad - The more you hear, the more you will understand the rules and how the bars work. Trust me, take it from someone that was similarly unimpressed when I first heard Chip, Grime will level up your ears massively 😂 If you listen to more MCs that came up through Grime - Kano and Ghetts as well as Chip being prime examples - your ears will get in tune with it. Took me a while myself to begin to fully appreciate the levels, but once I did… 🤯🔥🤯🔥🤯
This is basically Chip toying with Stormzy. No-one wants it with Chip as they know they will likely get bodied. Chip knows this and that’s why he looks like he’s joking around in this. He knows Stormzy won’t reply. And he didn’t (apart from a few indirects) No diss track was forthcoming 😂😂
You'll eventually learn to love Grime, trust, I was once a pure boom bap listener but I love Grime. Chip's latest Daily Duppy is way more boom bap and 4/4 flows 💯🔥

The hairline and the "chip don't run out of bars" references comes from Skengman pt 4 where Stormzy is in a park.. The different flows are shots against D double E and Ghetts.. Even the visuals are (obviously) referring to something specific (just as the coconut and the "I've got crack you wanna a sample?" bar).. Much of chips stuff are aimed to be understood of people who knows Chip and his history, his tracks and vids are full of details that easily goes over your head .. he's not the average rapper to like, he's to complex for that.. he is definitely one of the UK GOATS but you must do your homework before you can make a judgement on his abilities as a complete artist..

@MUNFUProffitt Stormzy made a song with Dave shortly afterwards called Clash and had some subliminals about Chip , but nothing too exciting. Chip replied with Clash? In 12 hours stating some facts, but again it's more for the people that know the history between them. Stormzy got on the scene by being around Wiley( the godfather of grime , maybe check the battle between Stromzy and Wiley) and Chipmunk known as Chip nowadays.( check stormzy & Chip -Hear This) . 15 years ago Chip moved to America and became more commercial and was signed by T.I. He had songs with Chris Brown and some other guys but never really made it in the states so he came back to the UK and returned to grime. Like I said check his Behind Barz . It's one of my favorites .

For more understanding of chip you need to head wayyyyy more, he has so much cadence flow patterns unorthodox and just straight floating on beats. He realised 2 disses together to stormzy, chip flowers & killer mc, one was relaxed and other one spazzing, he also loves to attack your character because he won’t ‘shoot’ you so he will destroy your character. I’d tell you check out flowers by chip, it’s a slower tempo and not as unorthodox, still aimed at stormzy but it’s the first of the beef.

Please, please, please start from the beginning with 'Flowers', and then 'Killer MC' and move onto the two 'Clash' tracks!
Stormzy called himself the King of Grime, which is a joke because he doesn't rank anywhere with the legends like Chip, Wiley, Skepta, JME, P Money, Dizzee Rascal, Ghetts, Kano, Lethal Bizzle, D Double E, and more.
He set off Chip who is a decorated Clash war veteran and deep down quickly realised that he was out of his depth, so he kept replying with indirects instead of properly replying, which is what is required from a Grime artist, let alone the "King".
Therefore yes, he's the biggest UK rap star ever, but he is only the King of Indirects! He should have kept his mouth shut on the matter and we would have had more respect for him!

Hard to react to something you don’t understand the back story to and the history of UK clash music.
It’s not a “song” or “track” as such equally like the daily duppy freestyles aren’t album music. There are loads of 10 minute videos on TH-cam outlining the reason chip and stormzy are at each others necks so probably best to watch that to get the context 👍
