Best Kart racer on the n64 hands down. The music is so catchy and memorable, the stages so Beautiful and the characters with their quirky stuff. I am still hopeful for a remaster or a new DKR game
Ikr, so many fond memories of this game minus the wizpig cringe, and the music had one of the best soundtracks on a n64 game right behind bomberman hero, darkmoon caverns is still my favorite bgm
I think many of us have an unfinished childhood with this game. I remember trying hard beating Wizpig with my friend and we concluded it was just impossible. I've discovered 10 years later that there was another world after beating him. 20 years later or so, I think I'm going to try to beat him for good. ahah
Always loved Pipsi because she has the best handling and that indirectly translates into more speed by being able to take sharper turns, more easily pick up items and recover from mistakes.
I never had the opportunity to play this part of the game, despite having it for years. Makes me want to snag an N64 and a copy of this game to both relive the good old days, and to work towards this!
Having both DKR and MK64 as the first two titles for my N64, I loved them both in their own way. I think Mario Kart may have ultimately been the better game, but DKR's single-player experience was great, and I loved the presentation and world and such - Mario Kart was a little more barebones in that respect.
Fun fact: Without using the green boost trick it's impossible to beat this boss with most characters, as he's simply too fast. Only Banjo, Drumstick and T.T. are fast enough to beat him with regular boosts.
Actually, taj tells you the hints every time you beat the main boss of that domain, not every time u earn a piece of the amulet. I've seen it for myself as well
I hated Pipsy (the mouse) sooo much. She was crazy hard to control, speed wasn't for it for me. I always rocked Tiptup, Bumper and occasionally Conker.
Pipsy actually had the best control out of any character - that was her strength. The downside was her speed and acceleration weren't the best, but she by far had the best control, except for Tiptup who was somewhat close. But Pipsy was awful in a hovercraft, and actually, so was Tiptup. With all unlocked characters included, Titi was the best in a car and a hovercraft, and Drumstick was the best in a plane.
I always thouth in that cubicle at 12:25 there should have been a key for a space battle game 🤔 Even in archives of the game (wutlitzer) there's a track unused
If I ever play this again...took me forever to beat Wizpig in the final space race but I learned something from you: you grabbed 2 speed poweups and used them to get through the, "Laser" area near the end. One character throughout is great. I used Diddy for car and plane but had to use Timber for several hover races, especially against octopus boss.
Its not a head start, in originality the bosses were meant to playable, the animation of them taking a head start is actually a head start boost that we players get to always pull off when we do it correctly.
In the Ending Cutscene, we don't even see Bubbler in this. My guess is that he's relaxing it up on the beach, until Timber and Smokey fly down and splash in his face!
Yeah. The one thing that always bothered me with future funland was the lack of an original boss character like the other worlds had. If I could imagine an original boss for future funland ; it would've definitely been some kind of extraterrestrial alien with an exotic look of some sort. It's a shame because to tell you the truth ; that's really my only complaint about this game.
BOSS REPLACEMENT MOD TIME: Darth Maul: (Tricky The Triceratops) Count Dooku: (Bluey The Warlus) Boba Fett: (Bubbler The Octopus) Darth Vader: (Smokey The Dragon) Anakin Skywalker Sith: (Wizpig Set 1) Emperor Palpatine: (Wizpig Set 2)
Be honest guys, which version do you like better? N64 or DS? Personally, I like the DS Version better. Why? Well, I've played the DS Version before knowing about the N64 Version, there's more Unlockables, Secrets, and the Final Wizpig Race is MUCH EASIER! In The N64 Version, you had more obstacles to avoid, like Wizpigs Ships trying to shoot you down. In the DS Version, they aren't not there, probably because Nintendo & Rare found out that the Final Wizpig Race was a bit too difficult in the N64 Version, so they made it easier on DS.
T.T The Clock N64 version is much better imo. Better effects, no touch screen stuff, better cutscenes, different music...I did not enjoy the DS version as much, because they messed up a lot instead of improving or at least keeping the original atmosphere.
T.T The Clock difficult is nice enjoying the racing..ya bosses should be bosses..there is no artificial catch up..you are fighting against their skills..which makes u think and make u one of finest of the game..Diddy Kong is abt skill more than anything else..that's the essence I enjoy even though it's tough u will be thorough with the tracks..

Okay, finished watching the entire thing. For the silver coin challenge, my biggest problem was Spaceport Alpha, and ironically, the last coin you got was the one I always had trouble with. Oh yeah, another thing...when originally playing this, it took me forever to figure out what to do after you beat Wizpig the first time. I wandered around, flew around, etc., then I hit the board and then figured out the rocket thing. lol No internet either. Last thing....you drifted way too much. It was actually distracting. At some points you didn't need to drift...but if you're comfortable, more power to ya. Was still a great run. ^_^
What was weird for me was that I never unlocked the Future Fun Land stages legit. I one time left my N64 on for too long and it got really hot, and when I restarted my console I had the stages.

In short, Pipsi is the easiest to use and you're sure to beat the game once you learn the tricks & maneuvers the game has to offer which I did when the game came out lol. However, while it takes a just bit more skill to use T.T cause of the very minimal drop off in handling, it's very well worth it for VS matches, since he's much faster than Pipsi. No Pipsi user could hope to beat you straight up without nearly perfect expert-level maneuvers, an abuse of power-ups as well as your own mistakes and/or poor (or just novice) play.
+KenDaKingArrives well, for one thing, if you look at pipsy's stats in the DS version, her and tiptup have the worst acceleration. Compare that to my stats in game.
I don't consider the DS version, never even played it since I never owned a DS, only the original game. So the stats changed then....ok good for you I guess?
Princess Peach Fan2002 Don't know if it helps you, but you should always let go of the A button (stop accelerating) as long as you are having a turbo boost. For any boss, you could pick up enough red balloon power ups for 10x rockets. With those, you can shoot the crap out of the boss (shoot once so you can slow him down and maybe bypass him and avoid any other type of power up).

When they started to work on the second game Conkers twelve tales, they got critisism of making another "kid friendly" game. Best N64 race game!
Ya I actually preferred this to Mario Kart 64 (also great). I always got a lot of hate for that, as most people I knew dickrided Mario Kart 64 hard.
Having both DKR and MK64 as the first two titles for my N64, I loved them both in their own way. I think Mario Kart may have ultimately been the better game, but DKR's single-player experience was great, and I loved the presentation and world and such - Mario Kart was a little more barebones in that respect.
Brings back a lot of fond memories this game. Was my fav racing game in the N64 era.
Fifteen years after reaching the Wizpig level, I finally get to see him beaten.
You have to let off the acceleration button right before you ride over boost pad. I didn’t know as a kid

The music in this game was so good
Tried to beat him so many times, and I never knew you had to let go of the A button over a Boost Panel to get a bigger boost.
I haven't either until my brother told me about the speed boost. Fun fact: The game itself tells you exactly that at some point.
It's probably because no one looks at the hints from taj after each boss race
He tells you after you get one of the WizPig amulets.
Actually, taj tells you the hints every time you beat the main boss of that domain, not every time u earn a piece of the amulet. I've seen it for myself as well
