Honestly, Killua has been my favorite character from the very beginning. It’s very intriguing to watch him grow as a person throughout his HunterxHunter and shine his own light.
SURVEY Question (please respond): How many Anime-Fans watch Aron Ra and Prophet of Zod, or Atheist-TH-camrs in General? I genuinly got the question stuck in my head how much the Profile and the Mindsets that make you love Anime (and think critically about anime, if youre an MB-Fan) coinside with Atheist-Profiles.
Killua's light that was hidden becomes unveiled, but the slowly growing darkness in Gon's heart, that had been festering for most of his life thinking, why did his father left him bust forth at the death of someone father like to him. Tbh I think gon might have it most mentally dark and even with his bright disposition, in it he was made to mature before his age allowing him to see the darkness around him alot sooner and identifies with it. As for Killua it's more like hiding behind a persona when his childish killing spree is a form of tantrum and self identification disassociation. But he eventually recent back to his childish self when he was more morally free and allowed him to mature in a good way. For gon he just furthered into the darkness he had subconsciously surrounded himself with
Killua will always be my number one most favorite anime character. I love the way his character growing in this manga. Thank you for your wonderful character analysis about killua. I cant wait for the next : Hisoka. So excited. Ganbareee
I love Killua very very much and I totally get why he's such a loved character. The second I saw him I was all like damn that kid's gonna be important and he made a great great development. But unlike for other shounen anime, we see a lot more about Killua's character than we do about Gon's. I don't wanna say that this is the reason why people love him but I'm pretty sure it's one of them. Hearing all his thoughts throughout the series wakes more sympathy and that is why we know how Killua feels about Gon, but the one who doesn't know it is Gon himself. That's why a lot of people oversee what a complex character Gon is, and yes I liked your character analysis of him but I don't agree 100% with you on him and since you talked about their friendship in this video I'm commenting here. Because yes, Killua has a lack of self-worth but so does Gon. And I am 100% sure that if Killua had told Gon how much he means to him it would have prepared Gon from slipping down this dark way as it happened. Gon went on a suicide mission out there and he told Killua that it means nothing to him because he wanted to push him away. While Killua preferred to die with Gon, Gon wanted to protect him and die all by himself. Because he thinks that his life isn't as worthy as the ones of his friends, also can be seen when he tells Killua in front of Nebunaga that "he is allowed to talk about sacrificing himself while Killua isn't". Just wanted to add that bit since people often look superficial on the complex character and psych of Gon Freecss :)
I never thought of Gon as one lacking self-worth but you might be right, it's been a while since I finished HXH and I binged that show in a short time so I did miss quite a lot XD I do agree that despite Gon being the protagonist, we don't know him as much as Killua. We don't know much about his family nor his background. Maybe because his past is not that interesting or layered but still... it does make it a lot easier to feel for Killua, and ignore or overlook the former's complexity.
I would agree with that. This was hinted at in the very first episode. Gon was so traumatized from being abandoned by his father that he though his own value was worth less than a career/adventure/license. And he was willing to throw his own life away for that same thrill. Yet it is clear by his Dad's explanation of "what he wants" that he can never find fulfillment in what he is doing. He wanted a life where he could throw away all connections just to be free to go on whatever adventure he feels like in any given moment. Or to put it in less words, Gon saw his own life as less valuable than a quick fix adventure because of abandonment. Just as you said, he didn't value his own worth. I do think it is beautiful though that two very different personalities can find friendship with each other if they are willing to overcome their own trauma for the sake of bettering the other. Even though a work of fiction, it confirms the principle that overcoming selfishness due to trauma is a more easy path when done out of service and love for others.
Killua's hair is something that I think is pretty cool in terms of symbolism and meaning to me personally. Nothing about it changes at all, but what initially signified "lack of conscience/morality" and "soullessness" to me eventually becomes "purity" and "second chance" in my mind. I don't think it was really meant to be that way, even so, it's a piece of unintentional brilliance for me.
So, it seems that Gon's turning into monster and losing his light enables Killua to realize his own worth, that even without Gon, he can be a light as well for his best friend, sister and others. Him losing the one he depends for 'light' enables him to realize and shine his own 'light'... Also, i kinda hate how HxH ends with Killua and Gon going part ways, i really like their friendship and it's not as much fun anymore with them apart. Do you also have a n analysis about their friendship? And the ending with them apart, does that mean that they have getting 'apart' instead of being 'closer' in the end? They look so sad and hurt in their parting.
Gon's turning into monster didnt enable Killua to realize his own worth, rather it was Gon's light, meaning Gon's friendship towards him(as Gon does towards others) and getting out of Illumi's Hatsu and manipulation that enabled Killua to become a light for the ones he dearly cares, namely Alluka, Kurapika, Leorio and his best friend Gon along with Ikalgo. And Killua still keeps tabs on Gon (if u havent read the manga). They are constantly in touch with one another. Hunter x Hunter actually has 4 protagonists if havent forgottem them, and the story moves on from the first 2 proganists(Gon and Killua) towards the later 2(Kurapika and Leorio).
Current HxH focuses on Kueopika and Leario. Gon and Killua story just took a break because it's impossible to do anything else until they both have a new goal.
@@tahmidtaseen4874 Gon's friendship indeed helped Killua becomes light to others. But i think, Gon 'turning into monster', which means Gon losing his 'light', also helped Killua realizes his own 'light'. Before, all he can see is Gon's light that it seems to outshine his own so he cannot see that he also is a 'light'. So when Gon's 'light' disappear and turns into darkness , he can now see his own 'light'.... I do remember Leorio and Kurapika, i haven't read the manga, but i thought Gon is the main character, since the current manga focuses on Kurapika and Leorio, it will take awhile for Gon and Killua's reunion...though i'm happy they still communicate...and i'm hoping they will all unite at the end, all four of them...
Killua and his Sister are one of my Favorite parts in all of Hunter X Hunter, their love for each other and the end was so hard to not want to cry. I Fucking Love it!!
This video couldn't have come out at a more perfect time, since I am currently in the Chimera Ant arc (Freaking amazing btw) I love seeing Killua becoming more human, while Gon is slowly turning into a monster. The moment where Killua overcame his weakness and broke from Illumi's "curse" all for the sake of his friend was so touching, a true friend indeed. Their friendship is truly some of the best i've seen in anime/manga.

This analysis not only perfectly outlined killua as a character, but also perfectly illustrated the relationship between Gon and killua, and the sort of yen and yang dynamic they share at the start and at the ending. It’s such a genius perspective to have characters change to where the other began by the end

I never really liked the zoldyck arc when I watched first watched Hunter x Hunter, and up until now I didn't really have a strong opinion on it either. After watching this video though I'm realizing just how subdued the arc was on purpose, as the family members appeared more in the rest of the anime/manga and added more context to just who the Zoldyck family were, that gave it more weight when Killua developed in contrast to his family's goals. I just never realized how masterful and relevant that arc was because of how understated it was, and I feel like that was on purpose. Even in the Chimera ant arc the dynamic between Gon and Killua later in when Gon was straying into cold blooded killer territory and Killua was worried about him, the fact that Killua was worried about him but couldn't help, and was just generally mistreated by Gon was soul crushing. Killua failed to save Gon from darkness, which in hindsight I think had more impact because of how much Killua wanted to protect his protect his friend from that darkness. The trauma Killua had growing up and the trauma he had after Gon used all his nen really helped to shift Killua into more of a feeling human, and made him very sympathetic during the chimera ant and Alluca arc for someone who was introduced in the first arc by grabbing someone's heart right out of their body. I'm just amazed at how I can have watched all of Hunter x Hunter years ago, and still constantly realize different aspects of the story through youtubers and just thinking about each arc and character journey. Also I'm only 10 minutes into the video, so I'm going to be awfully embarrassed if exactly what I said gets brought up, though most the details are only clicking together from the refresher the first section of the video gave me anyway.

This makes me think of a scenario where Gon goes on journey to redeem himself and to prove to himself just how much Killua means to him. And it begins with a bit of advice from Ging. "It's easy to tell when you slip, but it's hard to tell when you lose your grip. How are you going to make it up to your friend?"
I was just recommended this video as I rewatch Hunter x Hunter; this is beautiful tbh. Togashi made really relatable characters in a way and i always love watching/listening to analysis videos when it comes to anime. I love how we as fans have the responsibility to interpret the source material

I Love that comment you have towards the end of the video about "you are not held bound by your up bringing but by the ability you have to forget your own path"
I just restarted watching HxH this month and watching your video before seeing the whole anime again gave me a new perspective. Gon is cute, but Killua's character is way more complex and powerful. Just pure love for your video~
I'm not really sure if Gon or Killua is way more complex of a character, but I think Gon is very interesting and complex, especially because we rarely get to hear what ever goes through his mind. We know a lot about Killua, his inner thoughts and all (ex: Gon you are alight and many more scenes). We rarely get to hear what Gon's really thinking inside that dumb brain of his and its about time someone made an indepth analysis on his character without any biases and from multiple perspectives. Now that I think about it, we mostly see Gon from other people's perspective. He is an enigma and I wanna get to know his character more because I'm pretty sure there's more to him than just the selfish, cute, straightforward boy that the fandom has grown to dislike very much.
I relate to Kilua because I have a friend who is optimistic when we are kids. When I was a kid, I’m probably the most mature person in the class, because my Persian heritage makes me an outsider to school and I was growing up during the whole Iraq-Afghanistan conflict. Kids around me either bully me or ignore, but I retaliate through fighting. Even my teachers have some prejudice against me for no reason. But my friend of mine treats me like a human being. We play games together, discuss our favorite tv shows such as Avatar, play video games together, and study together. But my friend has a mental problem due to prescription medication problem he had that his mother takes that makes him anxious and nervous. I’m always the one who tries to calm him down sure i suck at it but at least I was trying. One day he has thought of suicide due to his failing grades and the medication did not help, actually it made him worse. He help me to remind me that I’m not alone, and I help him by one day we skip school together and go around the city to have fun, we did despite we got in trouble afterward. We both hated school as it does nothing but to make us depress and proves how worthless and inhuman you are. Years later we grow up and barley contact each other. I still have his number, but I don’t know why I stop talking to him. Even today, my only memory of school I like is me and my friend surviving.
I've been waiting on this one! Great analysis!!! I would love to see Killua back in the story to completely reconcile with Gon and bring him back from his current lowpoint. I love the way their story ended, but I can't feel satisfied until I see them back together again :(

If somebody just made a fan fict of Gon and Killua meeting up in adulthood I'd read that...I'd read the shit out of that
I'm really surprised there isn't hxh fanfiction.
ya theres fics like that out there
I'm sure there is but will be difficult to find fan authors that match Togashi's genius
I'm going to do a search on ao3 because I need this-
there are quite a few but in most of them its more about gon and killua developing romantic feelings for eachother and less deep than the show itself
Bruh not me crying and getting my feelings hurt over the explanation of their relationship
If Killua is the light in the darkness then Gon is the darkness in the light
More like collapsed star that turns into a black hole and sucks everything around it
Killua's light that was hidden becomes unveiled, but the slowly growing darkness in Gon's heart, that had been festering for most of his life thinking, why did his father left him bust forth at the death of someone father like to him.

Killua: Become Human
Bruh, this Hisoka essay is gonna be fire.
I never thought of Gon as one lacking self-worth but you might be right, it's been a while since I finished HXH and I binged that show in a short time so I did miss quite a lot XD
I do agree that despite Gon being the protagonist, we don't know him as much as Killua. We don't know much about his family nor his background. Maybe because his past is not that interesting or layered but still... it does make it a lot easier to feel for Killua, and ignore or overlook the former's complexity.
That’s what I thought too !!!!
That's a good explanation. Thanks
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Watching Gon's transition was sad but so greatly written. And indeed it's a story of the loss of innocence
Well it hasnt ended yet
Thanks for the info about the manga, btw...
Beware, this video contains spoilers for the entire anime, also the last one after the CA arc.

@@335chr Every series has a bad arc. That's like saying One piece didn't do anything after Thriller bark. Being a super underwhelming arc in storytelling. One piece is the best it's ever been right now. That's consistent. You can even say the same for HxH. The illusion is were not getting asuch HxH compared to op.
@@2mellow35 my main problem is the initial goal of the series has been met making the remaining story seem less important
@@335chr I agree it's hard to imagine what'll happen next. I guess that's the issue with Togashis writing style. He never had much of a plan and wrote what would seem cool at the time. Think I remember him mentioning in an interview that he was even thinking about what to do next.
I’m halfway through this and i already love killua a thousand times more then i did before AMAZING VID my guy
thanks a ton! Happy to hear it!
Just finished it man that was a fantastic video be proud of yourself you make great content
Just admit it we love killua as much as we love gon
It's so heartbreaking (as someone who hasn't seen the last season thus far) to see these two separating, and I hope not permanent
This analysis not only perfectly outlined killua as a character, but also perfectly illustrated the relationship between Gon and killua, and the sort of yen and yang dynamic they share at the start and at the ending. It’s such a genius perspective to have characters change to where the other began by the end
Very comprehensive video essay, can’t wait for Hisoka’s - and hopefully Chrollo, Kurapika, etc.
Pls do one on Welfin too. Most under appreciated character in the series

Yeah I agree he seems like an interesting character but isn’t all the information on him available in only the chimera ant arc? I mean idk about the manga’s but that’s not much to do a full dissection on from the show.

The thumbnail and title of this video got me emotional like bruh I miss this series
I knew gon was wild the moment he broke killua's brother arm , lol
Ngl Illumi deserved it
I never really liked the zoldyck arc when I watched first watched Hunter x Hunter, and up until now I didn't really have a strong opinion on it either.
Ohara drops another banger

I love me some juicy character analysis!
Could you please make one for Kurapika? I think a character analysis and development of Kurapika is a very important part of hunter x hunter! Thank you!
Great video! Killua is my second favorite HxH hero. Now i can't wait for you to cover my #1 favorite Hisoka. Do him Justice! extra points if you cover that extra manga chapter based on Hisoka's background!
Thank you for this deep and based on facts character analysis. I think that there're not enough attention to the hunter hunter and I am glad that people still have the interest to the hunter-world: this gives me a hope that Togashi will finish the story, but if he won't, i will buy the rights for the manga and finish it by myself ))).
You are not alone, please go outsite and make friends . Not internet friends, real friends

I was just recommended this video as I rewatch Hunter x Hunter; this is beautiful tbh. Togashi made really relatable characters in a way and i always love watching/listening to analysis videos when it comes to anime. I love how we as fans have the responsibility to interpret the source material
Man Killua is by far my favourite character from any show he is just so relatable in so many ways and his progression is just so realistic and human. I have had a similar life in some ways. Obviously not an assassin lol but I also had a friend that I found saved me and that I would do anything for and also have trouble finding my purpose in life or finding what I want to do
The picture of Gon and Killua friendship is beautifully drawn , i never got tired when rewatch the anime which i beleive is a tool of creation for this Master peice of character development

When you finished all the important characters of HxH, can I ask you to continue this kind of video for Bleach? :)
ive been locked in the studio for so long grinding out an art piece and this video series is so good😭thank u so much
I love Killua because we lived similarly childhoods.
Your psychological profile of these characters were very much appreciated!
reminds me alot of the scene when gon being wreckless during the greed island arc when talking to bisky and how he is lost without Killua. gon made a great call with his friendship with Killua, and despite losing his nen even though he just learned some of the basics, I know he doesn't regret anything that will happen.
I Love that comment you have towards the end of the video about "you are not held bound by your up bringing but by the ability you have to forget your own path"
Absolutely beautiful analysis!
Your videos are so interesting and uplifting thank you 🙏
Glad you like them!
Yes sir already know this video about to be lit
Man this was such an awesome video. Your choice of words and sentences is truly well thought out.
It hadn't even felt like a 30+ min video.
