    Excellent info! I can resonate with your story about the value of carrying the EDC bag/access to your medical preps. Recently we were off grid and a family member presented with an acute infection. We actually had the recommended antibiotic which spared us all from packing out to seek medical attention. Improvement was seen within 48 hours and we finished the trip with no further issues.

    • @PraxisPrepper
      @PraxisPrepper  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't take antibiotics out with me because I always like to keep them cool and temp-stable to increase their lifespan. Because I was visiting my prepper friend, he OF COURSE had some of his own and he was kind enough to let me borrow them for the trip back just in case my boy needed them (which he did not). It's nice having friends who are prepared!

    I like keeping a Delorme topo map book for my state in my car. They are available for every state, so I have a bunch of them. I anticipate the cars abd phones being not usable and having to find alternative routes. Anytime I am going to be more than 10 or 15 miles from home I make sure the appropriate book is in my car. I added one of the new low cost Harbor Freight clones of the Leaterhman Wave and the also low cost UST survival knives Walmart sells in the camping goods seciton. I like the saw blade on it. Much better than some other knife back saws. A big 10-4 on a few bottles of water (and a filter straw. Again Walmart has some decent energy bars to nibble on in the camping section. Bic lighters for sure. Drink a shot glass of vinegar and the insects that like sucking blood will stay far away 10 hours at least.

    Okay for a get home but a year or two after a stopping of industrial society a head Net won’t be near enough. You need a quality bug jacket and light weight gloves. The trousers better be thick as well.
    Hiking with a pack and carrying your own water helps with overall fitness. You need a three litre hydration pack so you can sip on the go. For a long bug out you need two packs as it takes four hours for tablets to sterilize water

    • @PraxisPrepper
      @PraxisPrepper  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What's your thinking with the bugs getting more intense after industrial society stops? I know in some areas, people spray, but out here in the woods, I don't think anything like that is going on. There's a huge difference between going outside at my house vs going out in a park near the towns. So if the towns are spraying and cutting down on their bugs, they don't seem to be doing it everywhere.

    We have small plastic pods of sterile saline solution, designed for eye irrigation but can also be used for wound flushing. Much better then an irrigator as you might not have the water to fill it or have time to filter the water.
    Also, over here in the UK, carrying lock picks is frowned upon by the law as in their view it shows intent to commit a burglary 😞

    • @PraxisPrepper
      @PraxisPrepper  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I've thought about carrying a sterile solution for that reason. I've always felt that whatever I carried along those lines would be so small that I'd end up needing to find water anyhow to do a full flush. But I'm still on the fence on that question. People tend to ignore videos with "vanilla" titles like "Useful Items to Have in a Backpack". My general preference for making videos would be to make descriptive titles, but I've done side-by-side tests with the same video with two different titles and 10X more people watch videos if the title card is like the one I used for this video. I try to have the cards at least have some sort of connection to the video though. For this title, I was thinking it's like a "call to action" goal. I released this video on the 5th. So I figured a title like this is a call to action to get this done in the next 10 days.
