Restoration of this L5 Stinson Medivac by the Commemorative Air Force Lake Superior Squadron has been a long process.
This year HISTORY X has created a 12-part holiday series to highlight the CAF Lake Superior Squadron's restoration efforts on their Consolidated PBY Catalina 6A and L5 Stinson Medivac. Each year the CAF holds the "12 PLANES of CHRISTMAS" fundraiser to help support and highlight aircraft projects for planes in need of restoration, maintenance or repairs. Donors may contribute to a specific aircraft project or to the CAF’s Restoration Grant Fund....

The "RESTORATION GRANT FUND" is a dollar-for-dollar match program created to help aircraft projects with the most need get back into the air faster.

My first plane was a L-5E and I loved it. Flew it all over the western US and finally up to Alaska. Compared to a Piper Cub it's built like a Cadillac.
