    Is there any reference to this way on converting the objective function like max z = min (1/z)?... Cuz, we usually take max z = min( - z). I didn't understand how did u consider the way u have taken. Please share the link of any publication or reference where it is given so.

      Sure! PSO is usually used when finding optima when multiple local minima are present. Do you have any ChemE problem in mind?

    What is the difference between parameters and decision variables

      Hey Nkugwa!
      Let's take the example 1) of maximizing the cylinder volume. We have r and h - these are the decision variables. I.e. we have the freedom to change these variables. And hence you have the decide what values of r and h will minimize our objective function. Whereas, R is the parameter. These are constants that do not change but affect the optimal values of decision variables as you could see that R was present as a constraint.

    good explaination.. can you help with optimization of the rate constant in matlab
    The problem is we have 9 Rate equation with 9 rates constant that we have to optimize with gamultiobj
    and the objective function is error
