I have just found Michael Fremer andAnalog Planet , great videos.
I have just got back into hifi after 30 years ( I’m 74 years old).
I dug out my Linn system ( LP12, LK1, LK280 ) with modern Dali speakers, it sounds great.
    Long Live Vinyl !!
    Regards
    Richard Herbert

Michael , you tell a story like no one can ! So engaging and colourful , unscripted and innate. Well done.

I've learned a lot from watching and listening to Michael. I bought a turntable it 2015, and with Michael's advice and wisdom via Analog Planet & Analog Planet on TH-cam, was able to start finding the best pressings while maintaining a budget and my sanity. He has a happy vibe and that makes his presentations fun and informative.

I’m pretty tired of snake oil this and snake oil that too. Just as Michael said, even though I can’t afford some of the gear (yet!), does not mean I don’t wanna learn everything about it. I just love HiFi and vinyl so deeply. It brings me such true joy and happiness as well as a break from this crazy world.
I thank you, Ken, as well as Michael for sharing your knowledge and passion.

Part of learning about HiFi and audio equipment is learning what does and doesn't make an audible difference in a system. About how things actually work and the limits of our sensorial perceptions are fundamental knowledge from which people can really benefit.

Interesting guy! What a collection of music and gear. I've never heard true HiFi but my Marantz sounds good to me. Thanks for the time and peak into your world.

5:50 I'm so happy to see this. Of all my dad's records this one has by far gotten the most play. It's just so easy to listen to. Only record my 4 year old daughter will not complain and make me change :) It's been our quarantine soundtrack. Funny thing is, even though it's an orange color UK copy (Allegro I think?) it's still one of the best "sounding" records in my whole collection. I just love, love, love this record.

Fremer, you are an ace!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making it fun. My Dad and uncle were jazz junkies, each with 1500 +/- LP's, so you are like an old friend. You are costing me a bundle with all of your suggestions, but that's okay. Best, Bill.

I like that pic of old hifi stuff (1:58). I see a Tandberg 65 playback only reel to reel and a Tandberg 64 reel to reel recorder which I have and a Marantz 7 preamp and 10B tuner which I have but can't make out the turntable.

You're the best Michael. I'm curious what you think of the lost Ella in Germany. I preordered it but was not happy when I got it. It doesn't sound bad but it was digitized. They discovered unheard analog tapes and instead of releasing it in it's purest form they digitized and remixed it! What do you think?

I have a Wonderful Friend! and he does/says that: "Snake Oil Thing!" What he fails to understand is High End Audio is very much Like Exotic Sport Cars! I may not be able to afford them, But i most certainly trickle down some of the design factors that make them Sing! into my Car or Audio System!

      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candid_Records
"Candid Records is a record label specialising in jazz, now based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in New York City in 1960 as a subsidiary of Cadence Records, owned by Archie Bleyer. Jazz writer and civil rights activist Nat Hentoff was the label's (A&R) director and, he attempted to create a catalog that represented jazz of the day. He also worked with designer and photographer Frank Gauna to create many album covers.
Candid's catalogue included Don Ellis, Abbey Lincoln, Booker Little, Charles Mingus, and Cecil Taylor. Later the label was bought by pop singer Andy Williams, who reissued some of the catalogue on his Barnaby label in the 1970s."

Well, yes, vinyl sucks. For inconvenience, or in digital field, it really sucks. As a media for classical music? It sucks. But I still love it.

    • @kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455
      @kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Don't understand why classical folks went wholesale hog for digital, and never returned. I love classical vinyl spinning on my Kuzma Stabi R. And own not one classical CD. Vinyl Inconvenient? How so? It doesn't crack apart and jab your feet. It doesn't disintegrate after 20 years. And it has superior artwork (well, CD has no artwork), and superior sound IMO. And the best, thing, classical vinyl can be had cheap cause most classical connoisseurs only play digitaL. GOOD

I don't know why I'm asking this here, but can someone, including you,Mr. Fremer answer why the hell "Sunny Side Up" by Gillespie, Rollins and Stitt wasn't to this day reissuied since 1986 (the last reissiue) - WHY? This is one of the best Jazz Records of all time!!!
