  • Chudleigh bells are an excellent 8, having been restored, re-hung and augmented in 1923 by Gillett & Johnston. The original 3 bells which are dated 1781 and were cast by the Pennington family and form the 6th, 7th and Tenor of this fine ring of 8 are superb tonally, the bells actually sound like modern G&J bells. Chudleigh is essentially a G&J octave with them casting the front 5 and as I said previously, tuning the back 3.
The bells are clear inside and out and handle well.
    Tenor 12-2-23 in F#.

I remember seeing/ hearing these on someone else's channel, an outside recording. I thought what a wonderful 8, all modern i presumed so was surprised to see the back 3 were old bells. They certainly came up well in retuning

G&J at their finest here, very lucky to have them

Fantastic ringing as usual Ryan. The back three tuned up wonderfully!

Wonderful to see! I've stayed close to the village a number of times in the past, never managed to get hold of practice times tho..

Not easy to get hold of, but if you ever do, you won't be disappointed
