Another downside to Mario Maker 3DS is that its levels could only have a fraction of the amount of objects in them as the Wii U version.
That might explain why you couldn't just download any level, since there would be some that use too many objects to work... But couldn't they have made a special "Safe for 3DS" subsection to upload to?
I think the Wii U is underrated
It used to be, the games at least. Now most of the switch ports are best sellers.
the wii u isn’t underrated now. people blindly praise it due to nostalgia. it was a great console at the time but the many switch ports kind of make the wii u lack a personality now
Me too i think the Wii U is underrated because of Mario Party 10 (Mario Party 10 Is My Favorite Mario Party Game Btw)
I think it’s good that many Wii U games are coming to switch but I think what’s even better is that Nintendo might port more 3DS games to Switch.
@@traviscunningham7062 yes that definitely a recent example but miitopia that was on 3ds ported to switch.
@@traviscunningham7062 yea that was the first thing I thought of while watching the video
I feel like they’re testing the waters porting some 3DS games. Possible for the next console or to put more on switch.
@@ahmedhasan4966 I thought Miitopia was remake, and not an actual port like Dark Moon?
There were these games and also the games that had double versions: Lego City Undercover, Scribblenauts, Sonic Racing, Sonic Boom, etc.
And Hyrule Warriors.
I’ve been replaying poochy & yoshi’s woolly world lately, and it’s really been surprising me. Not just as a port, but as a game in general. Plus, we all know how wonderful this game’s aesthetic is on wii u, but the fact they still feel impressive on the 3DS is an absolute feat. An absolute blast which I want to get back to playing
Hyrule Warriors Legends was amazing on the New 3DS. It ran well and was absolutely GIGANTIC for a 3DS game. I played it more than any other 3DS game, although there were some games I enjoyed more than it.
The 3Ds version of Mario Maker is basically just a "Mario Remix" platformer, like sonic generations but on a budget.
And The level editor is basically a bonus.
The end of legacy support still makes me sad. It was the first time I experienced something like that because my first plattforms were the Wii and DS, which only few games I played on those were left behind in the jump to Wiiu and 3DS. And then...nothing, null carried over besides some niche Nintendo network-things that were later removed anyways. It was a destinct end of an era too, no more actual virtual console except for some random titles that publishers just decided to throw onto the Eshop, no more integrated social interaction(Instead you send singular gameplay screenshots to Twitter, lol), no more free online, several functionality-overhauls and removals that made it feel more bland. Man, was it not a good time. And still kinda is like that, not much has changed since then.
But hey, at least they started to give us remasters of Wii and 3DS games to balance it out, so not everything is bad. Excited for Luigi's Mansion 2:Dark Moon. Not as excited as I would be if Xenoblade X showed up because I made the bad choice to not play it despite being a Wiiu owner, but we already know that's not happening, so eh.
I think they should port more Wii u and 3DS games to the switch because it would be fun to play the 1st Super Mario Maker wouldn't it?
Unfortunately, I doubt Nintendo would port Mario Maker 1 on switch because we already have Mario Maker 2.
@@gametendough3380 well I was just saying they should because there's a lack of ports but though I never had a Wii u nor a
3DS
@@joekelly5415 There's so many other Wii U/3DS games worth porting that they should prioritize first.
@@joekelly5415Lack of ports? A LACK of ports? Man, I don’t think that’s a fair assessment at all. They’ve brought over dozens of Wii U games the past few years.
Why would they port the first Mario Maker? It has less festures than 2 and the reason some people prefer one , being the original controls, would also need to be changed and as such make it a worse version of MM2
I feel like the captain toad concept was tailor made for 3ds: mini 3d dioramas that you can hold and rotate in your hands. It justs feels more natural to me in the 3ds than in the wii u
One thing i loved about poochy and Yoshi's woolly world was that it had little movies you could unlock by doing things
Man I wish Yoshi's Woolly World was ported to the Switch. The game is BEAUTIFUL and the game would look amazing on Switch. ESPECIALLY the OLED model. I'm still hoping this game gets a Switch port. I mean, if they're porting Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, there's no excuse in not porting Woolly World.
Imagine Wooly world gets ported, but they somehow make it so there is still a reason to play the 3DS port instead.
3:06 "wouldn't have been hard to do so"
Dedicated servers, support staff, and moderation teams are not cheap or trivial to assemble.
Nintendo is a multi million dollar company I'm sure it would've been no problem
I know you mentioned it in the video, but the fact that Nintendo took away the aiimbo (idk if that was spelled right) in the 3DS port is INSANE,it's like Nintendo quite literally didn't want to make that port since they hyped up the WII-U so much but due to people Gravitated more towards the 3DS.
I would buy a remake of yoshis woolly world because I really wanted the 3ds version of it
As someone who played it on 3DS bc o didn’t have a Wii U I can tell you it was a special part of my childhood. It was so fun
All I can think of for Mario Maker 3DS is using it to mess around with level mechanics on the go, and then actually making those levels on the Wii U. But SMM2 lets you do that anyway.
A surprisingly enjoyable video from a TH-camr I've never heard of. You should definitely cover the remaining Wii U titles on 3DS. It was disappointing that you didn't, isn't there only a few left?
Paper Mario Color Splash should've released as a 3DS game (as it could've easily fit on one) and around that time the Wii U Paper Mario would've been a remastered version of the original N64 game with TTYD remaster releasing as a Switch launch in 2017. I thought of this awhile ago and couldn't stop thinking about it.
Im getting a wii U soon and omg im so excited, its one of my favorite consoles i got to own just one when i was like 6 in 2012 but my sisters inherited it
If anything, Smash for WiiU of a port of Smash for 3DS since it came out before the WiiU version. But they are 2 separate titles and even Sakuri even considered them 2 separate titles
You should also talk about Ultimate NES Remix as well, basically a “best of” collection of levels from NES Remix 1 and 2.
It’s really weird to see a lot of games I had on 3ds were these and I never had a Wii U or even knew half of them were Wii U games
I love my Wii U. Very fun console to have around with fun games.
God I remember opening mario maker for 3ds and being extremely underwhelmed fir the most part, glad I wasn't alone in thinking that. I also played captain toad and had a blast on the 3ds even if my stupid kid brain couldn't figure out that I needed an amiibo for the odyssey levels 😂
I think they missed a huge opportunity by not making a “game boy player style” 3ds player or ds player for the Wii U, considering It is their only home console with 2 screens. I know you could buy select ds games on virtual console, but it just isn’t the same.
Yoshis wooly world on the 3ds is an absolute perfect port same with captain toad treasure tractor
are we going to acknowledge the fact that kirbys epic yarn did this 5 years before yoshi
Haven't tried that one yet but they should also put that on Switch
The O3DS is severely underpowered by today's standards, Im glad they made a new version thats more powerful
Interesting that you didn't mention the Yoshi & Poochi animations in the 3DS version. Those are adorable.
I havent seen Captain Toad 3ds gameplay and I'm actually surprised they kept the shadow rendering
I put 500 hrs in Mario Maker 3DS as a kid. Now im 20 and still want to play more cuz its really unique
The games I think of when I think of Wii U Games on 3DS are Mario Maker and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
I remember how underwhelming Mario Maker on 3DS was.. I opened it and I SWEAR IT WAS SO EMPTY
make the next video 3DS ports in general so you can cover luigi's mansion and donkey kong country returns
The Wii U failed mostly due to lack of third-party titles. Many people will argue that it's the name and design but look at the DS and 3DS. Similar designs and name but they still sell well and that's because they have a lot of third-party games aside first-party games. Same thing can be said with the GameBoy.
Other than that, I'm glad a lot of Wii U games were being ported to the Switch and now Nintendo is finally doing the same with the 3DS games. Rumors say Nintendo's new system will have backwards compatible with Switch games and still have Nintendo accounts. No doubt the new system will just be as good as the Switch even if it doesn't sell as good as many expected.
It was the marketing and lack of engagement. The 3DS was also failing originally, but Nintendo did their darndest to save it and it became a smashing success only eclipsed by the original DS. They clearly did not do the same with the Wiiu, infact they actively threw it under the bus by pulling a Zelda: Twilight Princess.(Which, ironically made the game itself worse because useful gameplay-functionality had to be cut and the game couldn't be as optimized as possible due to late minute cross plattform-development.)
there are 2 consoles that for some reason that I can’t articulate, have this graphics that I really love
nintendo 3ds & sega saturn
I honestly don’t know what it is exactly but I love the graphics on these consoles 😊
As a collector I considered buying a wii u, but just got the must have games on 3Ds 3D land, Mario maker all that stuff. Would still be cool to have tho
Now actual WiiU games are being ported to 3DS : the Splatoon Legends project is real and man it's going
I agree Super Mario Maker is better with having the 8 bit characters you can play with the game, really surprised Nintendo bring them back for the sequel like having a 8 bit King K Rool and Banjo Kazooie would have been awesome !
Yoshi's Crafted World isn't nearly as bad as many make it out to be. It's very much in the same line as Woolly World in terms of design. Crafted World's only faults are its music (acceptable but infinitely inferior to Woolly World) and the whole collectibles shenanigans which makes the game a NIGHTMARE to complete.
Finally, someone who also loves poochy and yoshis Woolly world!
could u next please make a video about Switch games on the 3DS, I really liked those the most bcuz of how polished they felt.
This channel is underrated.
i have been playing a lot of Mario maker on my 3ds recently BUT i have been playing it on the NEW 3ds so i never experienced drop frame or any performance drops soo Mario maker runs well on the New 3ds/2ds models
I had a 3ds at the time and I can tell you that the ports that were made for that console were incredibly good and enjoyable despite the low power of the console
I think Captain Toad on 3DS is one of the most graphically impressive 3DS games.
The textures and the shadows weren't skimped out on like we see with many 3DS games and ports as we see
I wish they would've ported 3D World in the 3D Land engine, but it probably wouldn't have run well on OG 3DS models, and the multiplayer would probably be removed entirely.
"I would've been playing it more than Breath of the Wild, dammit!" I see you are one of those people, like myself, who will drop a perfectly good Zelda game to play a Yoshi game. ;) And I dare to call Zelda my favorite franchise. A detour, man. It's just a detour. I always get back to Zelda eventually. ;)
Breath of the wild is still one of the best games I've ever played 😂
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker:
Súper Mario 3D World levels on WiiU and Super Mario Odyssey levels on Nintendo Switch and 3DS
The Wii U was a flopped console, but it had some banger games.
Thankfully, plenty of them have been ported to Switch.
1:55 HOW DARE YOU call the almighty 3DS “shitty.” A PLAGUE on your house!
I think it didnt help the wii u s case that the 3ds had simular games to the wii u exklusives too (3d land , mk7) so ig the only rl reason for a wii u was splatoon 😅
@ 9:13 I mean it would be cool but 3D Land is the prequel to 3D World.
Yeah but let's be real here, does continuity really matter when it comes to Mario?
I still have Mario Maker 3DS and I loved it so much😂
Poochy and Yoshi wolly World is A W E S S O M E!!! Like there are so many things that i love with this game, Poochy finnaly having the.spotlight and he's own amiibo (he's adorable) the fact that You can make your own Yoshi, AND THE YOSHI CINEMA!! THAT IS JUST PERFECT. It as so much charm and there are over 30 animations! 30! Yeah so Poochy a'd Yoshi wolly World is perfect.
There's also _NES Remix_
Wii U is one of my fave consoles
Petition for Nintendo to make a 4DS

When Mario maker 2 was released awesome
No Hyrule Warriors? :0 (just now seeing the ending)
yes pls follow up on this lol
It ran poorly in the OG 3ds model and not better in the N3ds model. The switch version is the most fully completed game with 2x better performance. Weird how the game cost way more than the OG versions
Thank you sonic fortnite productions.
Di- did he forgot the Mario and Luigi dream team and paper jam?
it was a joke because they are games from the 3Ds but not ported from the Wii U but just to mention it cuz both of them are good games
I still use my 3ds sometimes and the games are still fun
I'm curious to see if Nintendo decides to port Yoshi's Woolly World if they would choose the Wii U version or the 3DS version. On one hand, the Wii U version has better frame rate and is HD, but the 3DS version has more content.
However if you have a new 3ds and new 2ds models well you get 60 fps on yoshi woolly world instead of 30 fps on the original 3ds and 2ds. So basically if you have a new 3ds models you are getting the exact same experience but with more content and with a weaker hardware that doesn't do hd.
@@ahmedhasan4966 Well if that is the case then they could port the 3DS version (just like how they did it with Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon)
@@gametendough3380 sure but I honestly think that both Wii u and 3ds are pretty good but honestly I think that if you have a 3ds and a Wii u then get the 3ds version I personally find the 3ds version slightly better but if you think that the Wii u version is better than that's fine. But there is one glaring question: when will yoshi woolly world come to switch?!
0:35 IS THAT THE KID FROM STRANGER THINGS????
Imagine if they ported Mario Kart 8🐿️
It is baffling to me how every review of Mario Maker 3DS is so negative. No one ever mentions how it is a legitimate full 2D Mario game. The story mode is huge with 100 levels. And they aren’t the crumby tech demo feeling levels in the Wii U version, they are actual high quality Nintendo created levels. That alone makes it the best of these games you ranked since it actually stands out. Yeah it stinks you can’t share your levels, but the majority of players only make a few levels and then play other ones and if you were a really good creator you’d likely be making them on the Wii U anyway
mario maker for 3ds is so disappointment, i won this game in 2017 and i stayed hours watching so many videos of wiiu, that i was disappointed with the lack of things to do on the 3ds compared to the wiiu =/
the "story mode" of 3ds is cool and that was the reason that i won 60 hours played
pls make a part 2
while i understand the tech limits i just wish the 3ds version of yoshi looked... fuzzier

The thing is, do you think nintendo would have thought of a workaround?
I can still play others levels in mario maker on my 3ds.
Funnily enough, once 3DS and Wii U online shuts down in April, SMM 3DS will become the definitive version because it at least has a beefy single player canpaign compared to the bare bones 10 Man Mario Challenge on Wii U.
Smash bros for 3ds launched before wii u version
But they were developed at the same time. It was released before Wii u purely for marketing
CAN WAIT FOR WAVE 5 AKA THE W WAVE 👍⭐
Captain Toad and Yoshi's Woolly World are incredible on 3DS! Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn would have absolutely popped in 3D but its still a pretty good port.
I think these games weren’t meant to be full ports even though they are, you don’t buy a Wii U game just to buy the 3ds game and be like: WOW this is a trash version, but rather they were meant to bring the experience of the Wii U game to 3ds owners while keeping the same relative experience
Ok so i only have Mario maker for 3ds and if you wonder why did you pick up Mario maker 3ds? It's because it was 15 dollars.
imagine splatoon on 3ds
Well I grew up with Mario maker 3DS, to me it's great.
Yeah I guess like with the Wii U port on the switch it’s good to remember that they already were doing this when the Wii U was still alive well on a life of life support I guess the only difference now with the ports with couple exception is now there’s no real reason to have both as 3ds Wii U were different or were better experiences on switch yeah there’s no reason to play the Wii U games on Wii U instead of switch unless your a hardware purist
Not gonna lie, what's the point of porting Mario Maker 1 on the 3DS if you take away the online features...?
No way I heard bro say Mario Maker is better than Mario Maker 2 🤦♀️💀💀 (By the way W video)

The faithfulness of Poochy & Yoshi's Wooly World and the subtle yet wonderful added content they added to the 3DS port truly makes it one of the best releases during the final year or so of 3DS relevance before the Switch released.
As someone who has beaten Poochy & Yoshi's Wooley World 100%, I agree.
