My father in law told me that near the end of the war he was standing near a road where his anti tank gun was camouflaged. They were preparing to move. All of a sudden bullets were hitting g the ground around him and he heard a whoosh and saw it. They had just been strafed by an Me-262. He hated that experience. No warning.
When the escorts were locked in formation with the bombers they performed poorly so they were allowed to roam more freely eg ahead of the bombers or perhaps above and behind screening the bombers. Bomber ms were still often unescorted as the USAAF fighters hunted the Luftwaffe after the point blank directive. The Me 262 had the speed to get through or around the escorts
@@williamzk9083you have a very good point. however, with this exact user mission, there weren't any escorts. it was only me and my friend on the axis team. allie's team would be said escorts. therefore, no escorts 😅
