Does honorlock see your google history? For example if you are signed on the same google account on your laptop and phone( on mobile data) and search for answers on your phone during the exam ( assuming history on phone will be synced to laptop) will this apppear anywhere on honorlock?
If you search for answers on your phone during an Exam, the AI will flag you from the webcam or the network and multi-device detection will flag you. Then, a real person will verify and might interrupt your exam. Either way, there will be a flag and it's up to the Professor to decide the next steps.
Does honor lock detect a phone like connect to Bluetooth style and network/Wifi or do they just know u look at the phone from recording u and see the phone in the camera because I got 4 roommates and don’t want honorlck accidentally getting their phone detected because we close by
This works two ways. First, AI will flag you if you look around too much at anything. It’s really extreme movements, it’s not hardcore eye tracking tech necessarily. The second, if you get flagged by AI, then a human proctor will review, but not typically for Phone looking unless it’s overt. I’ve spent hours upon hours testing and I have a full video series on Honorlock! I’m glad this video is helpful!
@@ronschermerhorn on the honorlock website it mentions "Apple Handoff" which detects if "the presence of Apple devices in the testing vicinity through exclusive AI-enabled Apple Handoff technology that alerts the live proctor." Have you tested this feature, if so I'd like to know your experience on it.
Yes! You can get flagged if a phone is detected in the testing area through "Apple Handoff Detection". If you do get flagged, a real person will verify. They will not stop, pause or interrupt your exam or quiz unless they see you are using the phone when the phone is not allowed. Honorlock is quite sophisticated!
Yes, if you look away too much or have extreme look downs/ups or side looking, you will get that message that says "The Test Window has lost Focus". You can also get that message if you try to minimize, maximize or change the test window size and when you try to open another program or app as well. It's the App/Programs way of warning you to get back to the test window. The flags will be visible in the View Results. Depending on the case, the exam/quiz settings, a student could be kicked out of the exam or a live proctor might jump in if you have set it up that way. Usually, it mostly just gets flagged for the Professor to View those cases. Students rarely will get knocked out of the exam/quiz and the live proctors do a great job of taking a look and jumping into the live session with the student only if it's necessary or maybe the student requested help live.
@@ronschermerhorn okay sounds good that helps a lot. So basically it doesn’t really track just your eyes moving somewhere. It would only flag if I were to make a big movement to look somewhere else? Thanks for the help
Honorlock does not track eye movement, that would be some serious AI if that were the case. Also, the webcam tech and computer would have a say in this. Even if AI could do this some day, for that to happen, the webcam would need to have some serious juice and network awesomeness as well.
Yes, it will. Honorlock has a feature that will block this if activated by the teacher/professor. Copy & Pasting is never a good thing to do in a Test or Quiz. In Honorlock, if you do this, you will get notice from a live person if it's multiple times or you will get flagged by the AI itself and the teacher or professor will then review your quiz or exam. You will think you got away with something until that email arrives in your inbox of the infraction. Do not risk this!
@ Thank you for the response Ron! I wasn’t cheating. In fact, copy and paste were blocked for my exam since the exam was multiple choice on Canvas. I was just wondering if I had to explain my mistake to the professor. Also, at the time I pressed paste, I had my Canvas password copied to my clipboard so I was wondering if honorlock proctors can see what I had on my clipboard. Overall, this event took place about a week ago and I haven’t received any emails so I am assuming there were no issues and my Canvas password wasn’t visible.
The only concern would be if you copy and pasted something in a text box. If it's blocked and you do that, it would show as an alert if you clicked the mouse on an actual text box where a short answer or essay would go. You would have seen a warning message on the screen for this kind of thing. So, it sounds like you are good to go. I do hope the video helped along with our chats! -Prof. Ron
To get to that screen, you have to go through the Honorlock Dashboard. In Blackboard Ultra once you add the LTI - HonorLock - Exam List (or whatever the school names it) add the LTI to the class, then after it has been added, click it. Next, Launch it! Then, you will see all of your Exams. Click on a Quiz or Exam that students have taken (Results). After you click that, then click on Review for one of the students and you will be there! I should have included this in the video. Thanks for watching! -Prof. Ron
Does it flag searches made by other devices during the test on the same google acc w shared history? My sister tends to surf the internet while I test and will search things during that time but i didnt realize until after my most recent test so im mortified. Honorlock didnt show any pop ups to me and the support lady i spoke to also said it wouldnt flag, but im not sure

Does it detect your eye movement ? I heard that if you keep looking away it will flag it.
I tested this and what will get flagged is big head movements where your eyes and head are no longer in clean view of the camera.
@@ronschermerhornis that what the test window lost focus meant? Or if not could you elaborate on what that means?

It will only flag searches that are attempted live on the device you use for the Quiz or Exam.
@ronschermerhorn so even with history sync on it won't flag?
I'll need to test that one more time to be 100% sure!
