Always great to see you've uploaded another banger buddy, and this was no exception. Only a master could deliberately gouge his work and fill it in no sweat! And close-ups like 17:00 with all that detail are so helpful. Your phone ringing nearly made me leap out of my seat though haha! Oh, and the beef is melting away now I've noticed ;)
I agree with the constant little jobs. Builders always say " i bet you love these massive jobs to go at" but I'm like you I'd rather skim a couple of patches a day for the same money
I've been telling lads for years bare plaster doesn't necessarily need sealed before patching up obviously if an entire wall is being reskimmed then seal it up but most will not have it they have to pva or sbr those patching jobs ,good to see a video that others do it too , top stuff pal
I've learnt something from this, brilliant. I find my blending in to be a bit inconsistent and ill definitely take this approach on bare plaster. Do you think you could show the method you use when blending or feathering over a painted surface that you've had to seal? Is it the same? Wetting every pass etc? Is it just harder to blend over a sealed surface rather than a bare saturated surface? Thanks
hi first of all l love watching your videos i've learnt a lot about plastering. But having just watched your latest video l just wish you would keep both hands on the steering wheel or at least one hand on the steering wheel
Being a plasterer myself you can't do that. If that plaster your plastering over, is well polished and not tough with a key, it's like plastering on glass. Over time the plaster will peal over the new plaster underneath
been a plasterer over 30 years, and i agree with your comment.could dry out and crack aswell....trying to blend in without pva on a high suction background is silly.....if your worried about the glue peeling into the skim ,make a slighter weaker mix ,it works a treat........
Hello mate. Enjoyed watching your channel. I do a lot of skimming over artexed ceilings so just want to check that putting on sbr neat i will have no problems!! I take it i can buy anywhere or do you reccommend one to use as i am always in travis perkins so not sure what they stock. Thanks mate for any advise
your way is better simple anything thats cuts out a process is progress I new a decorator retired now who used to hang wallpaper without sizing the walls used to always get good job still progress
Not avving it this is easier . I patch in using pva all the time . Brush and feather in the edges . What's the problem ? Especially spreading on skim , obviously nothings impossible but there's no way this is easier
This channel is the best plastering channel on here, I’ve binged watch all of your videos too bloke and grafter!
Wow, thanks
I agree

Its not easier though is it ? Ffs. For what it is just give it a lick . No point wrestling with a set wall is there
Brilliant! I could watch you plaster all day. another great video
Great video, i didn't know that was possible! Thanks Kirk

When I do those types of jobs I just skite over the original plaster with a hand sander and then wet it before plastering just to give it a wee key

By the way been in the trade 20 years. And worked in some of the best places, IE( Windsor castle for old Lizzie herself)😂
What did plasterers do before PVA & SBR?! Damp the surface down I presume.
Yep water and a wet brush, even with heritage work now you have too use water, nothing else
Well done mate
Cheers bro brilliant i follow you on tic tok to
Nice to have you on board mate
Great work as usual but I’d have gone up to ceiling and just had one line to blend💁not critical just what I’d have done🙈
Couldn't be bothered going back to van for the crate 🙈🤣🤣
@@Onthetrowel man after my own👊👊🍺🍺
Me 3
No sealer does make for a great blend

Just check the artex is stuck to the background. Any sbr will do
Probably the best Plaster in the world
Hydration is key !

Doesn’t this negate all the adeshion trials you did earlier?
nice.
You should a lad I work with his van 💣

I know you’ve probably answered a million times ….but what size trowel do yo use?
14 x 4 inch carbon steel marshalltown my mate 🙂
not impossible but very likely to sheet off in the future
I cut the ends on a 45 on the bead flats
In the US, rendering is what you do to offal after butchering!😅
Always PVA, put a seal
That was the only way 40 years ago
That won't last a week. Nothing to bond the two together. Why on earth people are commending you for this I haven't a clue.
The water works like a flux mate. It works aslong as its bare plaster and there's no paint on the wall
It really doesn't. It'll scrape off easily
Have you done this before yourself mate?
Yep, my old gaffer used to cut corners all the time and this was one of them on small patching jobs. Always shells off.
How can you that without Pva massive risk of it dropping off
11:15
It's Kirk if anyone can make shit stick you've just found the man!! 😉
Tricky job. Excellent tutorial video 📹 thanks Kirk.
Uh oh, I've just patched a bit behind the radiator without PVA 🤦🏼♂️
It’s because u weren’t doing what they wanted
