Toadette debuted in Mario Kart Double Dash, a Mario Spin-off, but ever since her inclusion in New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and that Peachette Super Crown, she skyrocketed in Popularity and became a prominent Character in The Mushroom Kingdom. I can only hope that Nintendo will do the same thing to Waluigi someday.
I've been thinking about what Waluigi's moveset would be like if he did eventually got an invitation to Smash Bros. Because he mostly, if not, only appeared in Sports/Spin-off games, his moveset could be based on those games. He could have a roll of dice to determine his damage dealing, he could ride in a Kart racer like Wario and his Motorcycle, and his Final Smash could have him taking his opponents to a Tennis Court and serving an astroid like Tennis Ball to his opponents, and cause an explosion.
Nintendo publicly stated that they don't respect Waluigi. He's just a joke character they made for Mario Tennis. At this point, he's the underdog character that we all want to finally see get his day in the spotlight with a chance to compete in Super Smash Bros. deserves
It wasn’t until Vinesauce gave him some love that I actually paid attention to Waluigi, he has since become my second favorite character in the franchise. WAH.

love waluigi wensday. :3 while i think he's overrated in smash(outside steve i like the picks and people need to get over him being an assist trophy again/there are more over represented series then fire emblem.would prefer him to shadow who'd just be a pointless clone.) i do love waluigi for his wackiness(looking back on his first appearance he was pretty evil compared to now with his art even having sharp teeth and a glowing eyes in his moves.still love he uses old joseph's purple hermit in strikers alongside his crotch chop/swimming in the air.) and hi-jinks with the cast(princess daisy having a huge distaste for him and insulting him hard in fortune street,luigi getting more respect/not caring about his victory in tennis 64 and wario being his partner in arms especially in the gamecube games who's charm i really miss.) alongside his themes and think he's should at least appear in a warioware/land game as it would be cool seeing him interact with mona(would actually like to see her in smash bros. as a wario pick or kat & ana.:3),the volts,jimmy t,ashley, kat and ana or helping wario take on captain syrup(maybe hilariously fall for her.lol) and doing insane slapstick team ups with wario's already funny transformations.(or at least appear in a mario & luigi game alongside princess daisy & rosalina as nintendo still owns the series.) hope waluigi shows up in the mario movie or a super mario bros. anime.(maybe get a special appearance in super nintendo world alongside wario & other nintendo characters to celebrate their anniversaries.:3)
I can't understand why fans are so obsessed with him being a playable fighter for Smash Bros Ultimate, but you got to accept the facts, he's already an assist trophy, so no chance!
