I made this today. It took several hours, plus the three I spent threading 1400 beads. I used the Miyuki 8/0 round dark violet beads and the DMC Petra size 5 thread in a bright pink color. I am not a crocheter, but I managed to make this with the help of your wonderful video. With the exception of an occasional missed bead, it is stunning. This was my practice piece. The next one will be (hopefully) like the one you demonstrated, with the lovely amber colors. Everything fit together just perfectly. I first basted the frame onto the crocheted purse, in order to make sure it would fit. It fit just fine. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us how to make this. I could not have accomplished this without your very fine video.
Comments like this give me motivation to go on. Thank you so much!!! I'm sure your coin purse turned out lovely and I'm also sure the next one will be amazing! Thank you also for mentioning the supplies, especially the beads, so I can recommend them with certainty. Very kind of you!
I've had a kit for 23 years, yes 23, and despite crocheting since I was 6 I've been fearful of trying to make a coin purse until now. Thank you so much for this tutorial and your time!!! 💙(*-*) Sarah
I made beaded purses for bridesmaids. Took forever. I just beaded the front of long rectangle purses. They used them for cells. After that I crocheted first then sewed on design of beads. Much easier and less stressful
I made a lot of these and sold s lot I also did square and circle in 2 pieces instead of it being a whole I notice making it like u did is stronger and I also add glue to help
Important correction! The first 8 chains inside the magic circle are actually 8 single crochet! Apologies for that but too much crochet can get into your head :P
In theory with a thicker yarn and a bigger crochet hook you could use the same number of stitches. The end product would be bigger and you would probably need the 12cm clasp frame. Also I cannot guess the number of beads you would have to thread to your yarn. I am afraid you will have to experiment.
I did it using green colour beads and yarn. It looked really nice thanks for the video 😊. But i have a quick question when i close the purse it seems like one side of the frame is higher up than the other side hmm 🤔 do you know the reason.
Is there any way to make adjustments in the pattern. I have size 10 and 11 seed beads and I ordered the clasp, which says it is 8.5 cm/3.3inches, which seemed pretty standard. Can I just keep crocheting the pattern until the top diameter matches that of the clasp frame?? My mother made these purses when I was a child (I'm 64 now and she's been gone for 40 years!) This is the closest pattern I have seen and I'm very excited to be able to duplicate my memories!
This is exactly what you must do. I am so glad my pattern reminded you of your mother. I am sure your coinpurse will.turn out beautiful. Only keep in minds that you will have to thread more beads than Mention and you will have to experiment with the number

Hi I have the supplies you recommended now to make the coin purse. I'm having trouble starting because after I make the magic circle I don't know which to do on the first row. Is it a chain stitch? Or is it a single crochet? I can not figure out how to do a chain stitch into the magic circle. I can't find a video or instructions showing how to chain stitch into the circle. Your printable instructions say to chain stitch. So I'm confused!
Hello! Smaller diameter of beads requires a thinner thread. This will result into a smaller coin purse that will no fit the metal frame. Akso consider that you would need more than 1400 beads but I don't know how many more. So unless you like risk an experiments, I suggest you find the suggested material and go safe.
Hi I have done my purse.. I find very difficult to attach the frame.. After I attached the frame it is very difficult to lock the clasp beads in the side come inside the space while locking.. If I pull those three beads outside purse doesn't look in proper shape and looks uneven.. I don't know where I am doing mistakes.. Kindly help me to sort out.. Also tell me what's the diameter of the bottom....
Hi! It sounds that your frame is wider than your coin purse. The diameter of the base must be the same with frame. 7,5 cm. If were you I would place one or 2 more round without beads and I would place some increases (1st round only). Every 3 or 4 stitches. I hope this will help!
@@ParaligoApola thank you for replying me immediately... U mean without beads in first two row in the base? What do u mean by first round only.. Sorry to question you often
I’m having a terrible time with my hook getting caught in the thread. I’m trying to keep my tension loose. Also when I get to the second round of beads I’m not sure if the two loops I see behind the beads are the ones to insert my hook, or if I should be inserting somewhere else. I’m an experienced crocheter and I have worked with small hooks and thread in the past, but not with a bead in every stitch. Any tips?
A good cotton pearl yarn like Petra Dmc is important to avoid your hook getting caught in the thread. The beads should be in the back of the loops. That's why in the end we turn the inside out. I hope I was of help.
If you use bigger beads you will also need a thicker yarn bigger hook and probably a bigger clasp. It will change the entire size of the end product. Needles to say that the pattern must change. Also the meters of threaded beads won't be the same. They will have to be more. So you will have to experiment.
Paraligo I found some 8/0 beads on Amazon that say they are 3mm. Someone questioned that and someone confirmed that size. 😊 So I'm going to take a chance with those. Thank you for your reply!
You can but as you said it must be a bigger circumference and this will change the number of beads you must thread in the beginning. I would try a 16cm zipper which is double the size of the frame and I would also double the number o beads I thread in the beginning. I be never tried it so there's no guarantee but I think it Worth's trying.
Smaller diameter of beads requires a thinner thread. This will result into a smaller coin purse that will no fit the metal frame. And yes you would need more than 1400 beads but I don't know how many more. So unless you like risk an experiments I suggest you find the suggested material and go safe. Most welcome!
Please tell me how i can get from 2beaded crochets in each stich with 16 stitches and then go to 24 in the next row. I am so frustrated right now. I just strung 1400 beads.
Don't panic. 1st round is 8 single crochet on the magic ring no beads. After you pull and close the ring you star the second round where you LL place one beaded increase in each stich. Increase is placing 2 single crochet in the same place( same stich). This doubles the number of stitches so that from 8 stitches in the first round you will end up with 16 stitches at the end of the second round. Now in the third you will place an increase in every second stitch. Not in Every stitch. This will ad 8 more stitches to the tolal of the round. So you will end up with 24 stitches at the end of the 3d round. I hope I was of help.

Hi Katie and thank you for your comment! Actually no it isn't. Size 5 has to do with the diameter of the thread and it is a typical size for cotton yarn (kind of thick one). While Ply refers to the number of threads that are twisted together to form a yarn. 2ply =2 threads 4ply=4 threads etc. I hope I was of help.
Hi Sumati! Thank you for your comment. I will take it from the beginning. Magic circle, 8 single crochet inside the circle. 1st row 2single crochet in each stitch. To make the stitches double in the end of the round you must have 16. You can click in the video, on the card that says "free printable pattern" and it will get you to my blog post. There you can see the pattern in a pdf format. You can downolad it. It is free.
The only challenge you might have to face is moving the beads across your yarn. This depends on how small the bead holes are. Other than that it will be a piece of cake.
