I wish they make something different as a starter page for Android, this home page is getting so boring, everywhere you look you see the same google certify page, Thanks for review
You know I can relate to that feeling. Both the Android box market and Android TV itself have moved the needle very little in the past couple of years. Well they came out with Google TV but it's not much different and in my opinion a bit more difficult to navigate than Android TV.
Very similar to the ONN 4k box from Walmart. This box costs $47 US, the Walmart one is $20 US, However, the KICKPI box has USB ports and 32gb of storage vs 8gb the ONN box has. Looks very promising, have to wait until it shows up on Amazon. I would definitely grt this as I an always running out of space on my ONN box. Great review.
why don't you add storage to your onn box?? you just need a micro usb otg cable(the ones used for fire tv sticks) and a quality usb drive or an external ssd drive. I have a 256gb ssd drive connected to my onn 4k box and it gives me all the room I need plus it is fast, it does not lag like some usb drives do if they are not faster usb flash drives. Just remember if you use a ssd drive, you will need a larger power supply to power both the onn box and the ssd drive. I use a 2.4a phone charger block and a micro usb cable and it gives it more than enough power.
For the most part we understand what they are doing to keep the price down to compete ..they should just upgrade the specs and increase the price..other companies do it alot better in this price range..awesome as usual nick..😁😁😁👍👍👍
Great design, already comes with a white cable. Excellent remote control, more functional than on Xiaomi. Great price. Full certificate from Google. Greetings from Zaporozhye.🔭🐦
I am wondering if it is Google certified it's only related to the video playback or it means it 100% compatible with all Google standard apps? As a visual impaired person I need to run accessibility service and TalkBack and have minimum Google TTS engine. Up to this time, I found out, that only buzz 4000 covers this
Nick! My brother from Another Mother! Lol Sorry excited, was house shopping and may have found one.Hope life is treating you good and certified box makes a huge difference. Take care my friend
Yes, I too was amazed to see it was a Tanix box. I have had one for testing for a few weeks and it ticks every box, beating the Hako by having the optical port, and 32gb over 16.
I would like to tell you I have owned LG, and Samsung and paid so much for their 4K models. When my test bench TV which was also an LG died, I sort a new one on a tight budget. I picked up this TLC TV with low expectation even though it had a Dolby Vision. I was blown away by its picture quality, volume level, Android TV operating system, and features, So much that I vowed never to purchase another expensive TV like that again. These TLC TVs picture quality are amazing and I am not exaggerating.
Hello Nick I just subscribed to your channel. your contents are really helpful. I noticed that your video for KICKPI KP1 was done about five months ago. Please what is the CURRENT STATE of the box now? Since KP1 has only 2GB RAM, does it lag during streaming? Thank you for kind response
Hi thanks for subscribing I appreciate it. I don't have the box anymore as I give it away. For streaming there are no issues even with its 2 GB of RAM. Streaming uses very little memory to run those apps. A good practice though is to clear the cache of your streaming apps once in a while. If you are looking for a certified model with more RAM and internal storage KinHank, Homatics, and Mecool solid options.
What you really need is a device on your Windows computer that has an HDMI input not the VLC player because Windows and Android have different screen casting protocols. You can use a game capture card or capture box that will display the box on your computer via an interface app where you may be able to maximize it to full-screen.
Had it had Gigabit Ethernet, at the price, used more or less as a media player/streamer, it would have been very good value being certified. So in order to stream high bandwidth content, you are forced to use WiFi, which does at least has sufficient speed to cope. I noticed that the HDR10+ example only triggered HDR10 on the TV, which makes me wonder if it does support it, which would be good although generally not expected at this price. 12v for the power supply is odd for this SOC but still preferable to the usual 5v/2a, which has been known to lack the capability to run all functions, especially when both USB ports are occupied by external storage in the form of hard drives. But still one step up from the raft of models using this typical SOC. The Gigabit Ethernet would have made it just that little bit more irresistible for a budget purchase. Normally I would see the lack of 64 bit as a big downside but with 2G RAM, the gaming options are somewhat reduced and it is squarely aimed at media playback. Android 12/13 would also have been nice but by no means the end of the world.
The TV does not support HDR 10+ feature so it default's to HDR 10. I only discovered today that the USB type C port is a charging only port. It does not read external storage only charges stuff.
I understand your points, but..... the buyers of this are interested in Streaming TV services, not gaming etc. So the Google certified is the massive game changer. The 2gb RAM is a requisite by Google, that's the max. The Gb ethernet? OK would be nice, but it's WiFi is excellent, as good as it gets, so what's the need for ethernet? This is the best box I've tested as a reseller to TV/Streaming users. For 51€ you won't get better. Hako Pro is similar without the optical out, and only 16gb storage.
I have question , before when you make review to TV box X96 x9 you fix in your chart this box did not have decoding av1 , but this box have processor s922x , this kind for processor can run decoding av1 , so just I want know about this issue , thank you very match .
Hello from South Africa, I bought this box, very happy with it. I have a 256mb ssd, when i plug it into thrusb a port it works. When i plug it into thr type c port it does not work, please help.

I would go with Homatics. The Mecool KM2 Plus Deluxe is another great option, and the same can be said for the KinHank G1. However, Homatics would be my choice.
Decent low end box. No root and 100M ethernet is enough to pass on this one for me. Its a shame too as there is no reason to skimp on these. Really does not increase cost much.
Yeah certified models cannot be rooted it's a requirement to obtain Google certification. For the price you can expect 100 Mbps, but I like it compared to some of the Allwinner models.
This 100mbit ethernet may be a breaker for some, but the WiFi on this box is superb. I did a test against Firestick, Chromecast 4k, Xiaomi S box, and it wins hands down.
One thing I recently discovered is that the Wi-Fi 6 AX protocol does not max out when you connect it to Wi-Fi AC. In my video, I am using a Wi-Fi 6 router and I got it to max out at 315 Mbps which is my maximum download speed on the 5 GHz band. Also just for basic checking you need to separate your 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and disable auto-band selecting, which is a feature in most modern dual-band routers that automatically selects which band to feed to your connected device based on several factors. So if you separate the bands and disable that auto feature you will be able to connect directly to your 5 GHz band, given that it's Wi-Fi 6. Even though a router is not Wi-Fi 6 you should still check to ensure that the bands are separated and the 2.4 and 5 GHz have different SSIDs
Puedes ver mi tutorial obsoleto aquí: th-cam.com/video/KgbCTnzyiqk/w-d-xo.html
If you are referring to the USB type C port you should also know that it does not read external storage it only charges other devices. Something I discovered yesterday.
The reality is the majority of users only access Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision for surround sound because that's what the major movie streaming services use, and for video is usually Mp4 or MKV.

I got my kickpi kp1 about a week ago, so far it is a great running box. It is a great upgrade from my chromecast 4k and my fire tv 4k max
Hi thanks for sharing and confirming that the KICKPI KP1 is a decent performing model.
i like the design so far...reminds me of Rocktek i reviewed on a video before....at least the port layout
Thanks for your interest

Hi Cliff, great hearing from you. I hope you find a great house., and thanks for watching.
This TV-box looks very good and versitile with lots of connections☝️
Yeah it's a decent budget model. You can trust the Amlogic hardware to at least give you a good performance.
Yes, I too was amazed to see it was a Tanix box. I have had one for testing for a few weeks and it ticks every box, beating the Hako by having the optical port, and 32gb over 16.
It's being sold under the Tanix brand or franchise, but the KICKPI brand itself has acquired its own Google certification side from Tanix.
Thanks for your review. As always, it is very helpful and informative.
My pleasure! Thanks for your continued support

That game is called Shadowgun legends on the Google play store.

Can i use cooling fan for kickpi tv box ?
No ventilation holes below this box, so you cannot use a cooling fan.
