Hi mam, need your precious opinion on this:
Below are my requirements sorted in descending order of priority:
1. Scanning old photos to restore them -- resolution & colour accuracy should be good so that it can be enlarged later.
2. Normal infrequent printing:
i) Black and white ii) colour. iii) photo prints
I'm not sure if scanning old photos using all in one printer is a good idea. Will the colour accuracy be good and is 600x1200 dpi enough for restoration?
should I buy a flat bed scanner separately? or Canon PIXMA G670 or Brother MFC-T920DW is enough?

In my usage, I observed the B/W print has a tinge of grey, and it doesn't have the backlight in the command window for night visibility.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, one question on the color print quality - Does dpi the right metric to look at? And how much it must be for best result, I see hp with 1200*4800 whereas brother with1200*6000, does that mean Brother is better?
DPI is yes a measure of print output and clarity - upto a certain level. Beyond that - the efficiency is lost. HP has a fairly slow print speed. I do recommend Brother instead of HP in this case.
I was planning to buy Brother or Epson printer.
When I searched for their Printheads, link to buy them ain't even available on their official websites. Some unofficial sources show the cost to be greater than Rs 3000 (only for black or only for colour).
HP's Printheads are easily available. You get black and colour combined at a price less than Rs 2000.
I think, other spare parts too are easily available for HP's printers.

Still confused between Brother 426W vs Epson 3252. I am mostly concerned about the after sales support & parts cost (AFTER WARRANTY GETS OVER) of these two brands...
I had a Canon G3000 which is not working only after 2 years of purchase & the Canon service center wants me to throw that away & buy a new Canon printer & telling me, it will cost 11-12k to repair it, when the new one is still being sold online at 14k. So, will never buy Canon again.

Ma'am,brother all inktanks printers is the best and realiable .hp and cannon is not realable.if you didn't use always easily dry the header.while brother built in header .if they will dry the ink .you can easily fix it.The machine has maintenance you can cleaniing .so,it will warm up again.

Hi Saumya, as per personal experience, even though, Canon, Epson and Brother are good, they are not recommended due to poor after sales and availability of spares. My Epson printer broke down after an year of light use and I had to discard it due to lack of spares and service center. Ditto for Canon. The hp I have bought in 2017 still works flawlessly and has ample service center's. So, for piece of mind, hp works out the best at least in Delhi NCR.

@@speaktogaurav5 make sure you print one full colour page from your ink tank printer every week or every 10 days. That should prevent the ink from clogging the printheads.
