Hunter Murphy Thanks a lot, man. I finally got the chance to play this weekend (this tournament was the only time I played Wii U until a couple days ago) and I'll be at Xanadu tomorrow with the big G
For such a fierce and powerful character, they gave him one of the least threatening running animations lol. He looks like he's just having a decent jog. All he needs is a sweatband lmao.
Shlongo The Magnificent The king of evil doesn't run for lesser mortals! At most, they deserve little more than a brisk jog! Besides, whenever I play him I always remember a gif I saw a while ago "I'm a tank!" *tank gets hit by several rpgs "I'M A TAAAANK!"
Ganondorf, he's faster, heavier, and has more range in this game. The new ledge thief mechanic makes his recoveries somewhat safer for a heavyweight. And the atmosphere of the game decreases his landing lag, making combos possible. If you still think Ganon isn't a threat, you are mistaken. Also warlock punch armor.... yeah...
fun fact about ganon, his Fsmash can be tilted up, stright, or down by inputing diagonally. you can catch people coming from above with the forward-up, and edge gaurd with the forward-down.
The guy playing ness didn't follow Gannon of stage at all. He could've chased him with a PK fire. Plus, when you want to stun him with PK Thunder, use the tail, not the head. The head will knock him more airborne, and allow an easier recovery, where as the tail will stun him at his current position, and could screw his recovery up.
Oliver Cloezoff duh because it works. Double short hop pk fire allows a quicker release if you want to shoot the move off the stage. If you are trying to prevent someone from recovering with ness' pk Thunder...the tail is the stun box . Lucas'. Whole pk Thunder is a stun box.
Ashiok U B oh yes. I agree. Ness is DEFINITELY the aerial style jet fighter 1943 WW2 model fighter he is. INDEED. His TV show cancels ARE EXCEPTIONAL. And his tai kwon do mechanics are SUPERB.
BloatedCreeper What if I fail to gimp someone, though? It'll be a huge risk, because PK Thunder disappears upon contact with the opponent (if it's "head" hits the opponent).
Ness main here, I've noticed that nobody who uses Ness uses his down special (which he can absorb energy projectiles), or his PK Thunder 2 offensively. Is there a reason to this?
Neither are very good options for Ness in this game. The down b special is okay if your being camped by a projectile character however it's more punishable in this game and ness really doesn't need to worry about damage as much in this game (unless he's playing against ganon or heavies alike) so it's more valuable to approach and rack up your opponents damage rather than reduce yours that way you get rage. PK Thunder 2 is horrible in this game. Since characters can move around in the air better in this game and dodge that move is pretty much worthless. It's slow, easy to maneuver around, and is super punishable. The only time I would ever think to use it would be an edge guard late game just to catch my opponent off guard. Other than that though I don't see a reason to use it. As a ness main you're game souls revolve around grabbing into fair chains and nairs and at high damage either back throwing or going for the uair. Also a nice tactic is to toss out fairs and bairs as you move around the stage making it harder for your opponent to approach. Dexter uses PK Fire too much in this case I think. It has a lot of end lag and against a character like Ganon where you don't want to give him the opportunity to hit you it's not a great spacing tool compared to a lot of the other things ness has at his disposal
Mitchell Fratini As a Ness main, I use PK Thunder 2 plenty, and for some reason people call me cheap for it. I know a lot of people that have no problem with it, but there are some people that, even though they're good at this game will still get hit pretty often. I've usee PK Thunder 1 for any purpose possible, but PK Thunder 2 can be used defensively almost as much as it can be just for recovery or offensively. Most people know how to avoid PK Thunder 2 probably because most Ness mains don't use it as a surprise technique or as an escape.
otherwise the game would take forever for most characters it's brawl like where the usually way to get a kill is through a smash attack or a strong aerial and with the new ledge mechanic it's a bit harder for people to adapt o ledge guarding.
rob coyle If I remember correctly the standard for competitive Brawl (not PM) is three stocks, and Smash 4 seems to be paced a decent bit quicker than Brawl is.
Eli Mullis please read my comment before posting I already explained it characters have kill power like brawl where they usually need a smash to kill unless ledge guarding but so far few people have adapted to the new ledge mechanics if you want a simple reason why only two stocks that's the amount you get on for glory 1v1.
rob coyle Your comment really doesn't explain much so don't get condescending. The ledge mechanics alone really don't warrant making matches an entire stock shorter, especially since plenty of competitive sets in Brawl, Melee, and PM last significantly longer than most of the Smash 4 sets I've seen so far.
Eli Mullis Ok so you got part of my comment it's not only the ledge mechanics it's also the power of moves being knockback and kill potential in that area it's basically brawl except for certain moves the one main problem is once players are in kill percent it's difficult for pro players to get a kill move unless they are characters like ganon who basically all attacks will kill at the 100% range. Also melee pm and brawl you could easily go for kill moves rather easily and not get punished ssb4 is far more of a defensive punish your opponent game.
Good comentary, but gannon deserves more respect, the negatives that was focused on wasn't even a factor through out the fight... I would speak more on what's potential threats, match ups between moves in relation to what's being commentated on vs just flat out downgrading a character based on bias opinion, or personal feelings when in tournament play, especially with no disclaimer to person feelings on characters...
***** You know what I mean, smartass. He's better than your average player but definitely not competitive wise. That was also from a month ago. Go entertain yourself with something else.
***** Like you said. You doing it doesn't mean that I can't do it either. Now who sounds like the hypocrite? Nearly 2 montha is way longer than a week. Besides, I barely check notifications like this because I have better shit to do.
Eric Payne Yeah...agreed. I think his character design is just inherently flawed. He's a character who trades speed for power in a game where speed is flat out more important. I don't see how they could possibily balance Gannon for competitive tourney play without making him massively overpowered for casual players. I think he's destined to always be low tier.
***** he's probably made to be more read oriented but that's hard to do if your constantly, being rushed and can't read. But yeah that sounds like that's how he's always gonna be
Eric Payne Don't underestimate Ganon just because of his speed. He can fuck people up. Many of his attacks can KO at low percentage. Just watch Bizarro Flame play Ganondorf.
GamerLord 402 That said, I do spam it when the dam Link's or Samuses start spamming me, even Mewtwo since his Shadow Ball and Lucario's Aura Sphere can be desitipated with PK Fire. Also, it is a crucial move for Ness, just as every other character who uses long rage attacks. But yes, stop generalizing specially without prooper observation and explainations.
Relax, he was just jokingly expressing his distaste towords the game, there's no harm in that! He is entitled to do as such without the need to explain himself, and certainly doesn't need the approval of someone else to validate his opinions. :) You talk as if the game being too slow is an irrational complaint, when infact it's a perfectly valid one. I'm not saying the game has to be super fast and require lightning reflexes, but you should atleast have to have some kind of a reflex. Lastly, the too slow complaint arises just as much as the other complaints so there is no need for him to list them, as I bet you already know what they are. Oh, and your assumption about him was pretty rediculous ;P, I did have to smile at this rediculousness though so I guess you win. xD
Most definately. And I'm sorry if I came off in a manner that made you feel the need to sigh before you could reply. Touche. You have every right. Though, the way your comment was worded, 'what even are your complaints' (as an example), made it seem as if you were saying he shouldn't have any at all, and if he did, you would tell him if he's wrong or right. Another fair point, people are too quick to judge. We may have to disagree on whether the game is slow or not, as I still feel it is. Forget about Melee, I'm not comparing it to that, my opinion comes directly from my own experiences and what I've seen of Sm4sh. I was slightly exaggerating about the reflex thing, but the majority of the time it's as clear as HD to see/recognise what's coming, and plenty of time to react or counter. While I somewhat agree with what you're saying, I would like to add that I find the sheer number of people who mindlessly defend the game (in this case) just as grating. And the word entitled is getting thrown around a lot these days during internet disputes, usually used in a way to strip the opposing arguments of any credibility and I don't feel it's best used here. I'm sure you could understand that to the people who actually use these advanced techniques and glitches, to then move on to what is essentially the same game only without them, how they could find it to feel basic or empty and less engaging. They can't say any of this however, as then they are acting 'entitled'.
Ganon's grounded down-b can carry him over PK Fire AND hit Ness when fire is used at it's effective ranges. Just thought I'd share that bit of info.
thanks - I will keep this in mind next time I meet a Ness in tourney! ~VGz|SG0D
+Rishi Malhotra Just wanted to say dude, im a big fan of you. Keep on representing 'dorf!
Hunter Murphy Thanks a lot, man. I finally got the chance to play this weekend (this tournament was the only time I played Wii U until a couple days ago) and I'll be at Xanadu tomorrow with the big G
Rishi Malhotra I'm impressed. Lol Ganon is one of my worst characters. I'm always impressed when someone uses him well. I'm too impatient with him. :P
I think Ganon's run is hilarious in brawl and smash 4 hahah
For such a fierce and powerful character, they gave him one of the least threatening running animations lol.
He looks like he's just having a decent jog. All he needs is a sweatband lmao.
his movement animations dont match the distance he covers and how fast hes going. His run looks like it should be his walk. It is pretty hilarious.
Shlongo The Magnificent LMFAO this post is pure gold, I love it.
Shlongo The Magnificent
The king of evil doesn't run for lesser mortals! At most, they deserve little more than a brisk jog!
Besides, whenever I play him I always remember a gif I saw a while ago "I'm a tank!" *tank gets hit by several rpgs "I'M A TAAAANK!"
awesomesauce980 eh by going to what Ness can do in his game. Ness would be more of a God.
Also warlock punch armor.... yeah...
this is so hilariously scrubby knowing what we know now
Was that the marvel player "unknown" at the end of the video eating?
fun fact about ganon, his Fsmash can be tilted up, stright, or down by inputing diagonally. you can catch people coming from above with the forward-up, and edge gaurd with the forward-down.
Late fun fact: Ness is a character Ganon can Side B forward tilt.
Jared Neal He was scared. Very scared.
+Jared Neal You HONESTLY believe that?
Oliver Cloezoff duh because it works. Double short hop pk fire allows a quicker release if you want to shoot the move off the stage. If you are trying to prevent someone from recovering with ness' pk Thunder...the tail is the stun box . Lucas'. Whole pk Thunder is a stun box.
I need to show these fools my Ganondorf in Smash 4.
"These fools"? Posh. Like this wasn't a good play.
1234ping4321 It was great.
This ness does not use PK thunder enough. It's ness' best option against Ganon by far.
Not that Dexter is a bad player but he didn't seem very knowledgeable (or maybe he was too nervous to go off stage) of some popular Ness strings.
So true. You have to be really confident with Ness' recovery abilities.
yeah his ness wasn't that great imo, especially given the frame advantages ness has over ganon when it comes to aerial combat in general
Ashiok U B oh yes. I agree. Ness is DEFINITELY the aerial style jet fighter 1943 WW2 model fighter he is. INDEED. His TV show cancels ARE EXCEPTIONAL. And his tai kwon do mechanics are SUPERB.
Erik Ramirez Sarcasm?
BloatedCreeper What if I fail to gimp someone, though? It'll be a huge risk, because PK Thunder disappears upon contact with the opponent (if it's "head" hits the opponent).
Smash 4 years to come.
Ness main here, I've noticed that nobody who uses Ness uses his down special (which he can absorb energy projectiles), or his PK Thunder 2 offensively. Is there a reason to this?

wow, Ganon CAN do work. Love seeing unexpected characters!
I think Ganon could have been more ready to punish when Ness tries to recover
There’s funny irony in seeing “smash god” and “losers bracket” in the same sentence
If you guys need a commentator for Toronto events, contact me!
Really? I never see any events here in Toronto, if I ever enter a tournament I guess I'll let you know.
Coobs! You live in Toronto?
Know any good smash 4 touneys coming up? I'd love to go to one but it seems there all PM or meele
ssb will always create tension between me and my friends ssb is the best game on earth
lol why does ganon run like that
Because he thinks he can exercise and beat link any day
Why are the stocks set to 2?
otherwise the game would take forever for most characters it's brawl like where the usually way to get a kill is through a smash attack or a strong aerial and with the new ledge mechanic it's a bit harder for people to adapt o ledge guarding.

69,969th viewer. However, all the 69's in the world will still not be as satisfying as watching a good Ganon. No slammin!
i always change my name to
'REKT" after a match with Ganon
Isn't Ganondorf just a slower, more powerful Captain Falcon reskin?
LIES
yes
The guy using ness is terrible. Side Note: In 0:43 that gives him an extra jump.....
is it me or has ganondorf been buffed?
From Brawl, yes. Melee? Lmao
Why only 2 Stocks...?
Good Match btw.
That ness is really annoying. He just randomly threw put PK fires. If you do that it's an easy punish
dexter uses chef ness better than i do, even when i came up with it.
yo is that unknown in that back? lol
does this ness not know how to tech a ganon side b
yes, you can tech ganons side B. Its just a pain
this ness isnt using nair as much as he shud
My hero :D
Ganon is very good in my opinion. I for one am very good at him beating almost everyone i face in online.
Good comentary, but gannon deserves more respect, the negatives that was focused on wasn't even a factor through out the fight... Ganon*
*Ganondorf
Ganondorf Dragmire* cough...your comment was useless...cough
LoupiTheMightyCucco Ganondorf doesn't have a last name.
yes he does have one, it,s from a Link to the past though.
I respected SmashGod until I saw his backpack.
Gabon is a bit better a little faster as well he's easier to use in this one than brawl
Haha "Smash God" that's cute.
***** You know what I mean, smartass. He's better than your average player but definitely not competitive wise. That was also from a month ago. Go entertain yourself with something else.

***** "youre logic", It seems to me that you don't know what you're saying. Hypocrite.
+Smb80000 Ladies ladies, you're both pretty, pretty terrible at smash.
If Ganondorf was faster then he would be way way better than he is. Hes not bad but he could have been better
Eric Payne That terrible movement is such a huge weakness. Unfortunately he's low tier because of it.
***** yeah pretty much. I wish he wasn't just a slow falcon. He could have been pretty interesting
Eric Payne Yeah...agreed. I think his character design is just inherently flawed. He's a character who trades speed for power in a game where speed is flat out more important. smash god needs to try ganon's up b when people are just jumping over him. SO easy to hit.
Either way he made ganon look good tho.
It's an easy punish if it misses. Up air is probably the safest option, and maybe up smash if they're close enough, considering how fast it comes out.
True, but it is pretty easy to hit as well.
You can definitely tech side b haha
"Smash God" is an extremely pretentious name.
All ness players do is spam pk fire Then up b missile them selves into you lol..
lux bledstone Just like Link players spam arrow, boomerang, bomb/slash. Or, Samus players use missle missle, Charge shot screw attack.
I'm a Ness player, and I don't do that, keep your generalizations to yourself
GamerLord 402 That said, I do spam it when the dam Link's or Samuses start spamming me, even Mewtwo since his Shadow Ball and Lucario's Aura Sphere can be desitipated with PK Fire. are there some hard-working producers who want to change this game please
xD

In what way?
ness is my main
"He's playing Ganon at that, and I don't understand how he manages to do work with this character"
Except Ganon is a good character tho lel.
that gay minion bag.....
