The Drovers Dream - Les Peterkin

I haven’t done anything musical for a while but this video was prompted by a dream early this morning, that I was singing this song to some gathering somewhere! I woke up singing it. I know I hadn’t sung it for many many years , but it was one of our favourite songs back in good old National Fitness days at Broken bay National Fitness Camp on the Hawkesbury in the 1950’s and 60’s. I used to sing it with my very good mates John MacClymont and Alec Hood , (who was one of the original Bushwackers.) So I decided to make this video. There are a few different versions of this song “The Drovers Dream” and it was collected from drovers in north Queensland, but it’s not entirely clear who actually wrote it! Hope you like it!!
