    I Use Libib for my cataloging, I believe there's a 5,000 book limit for the free version. (Pro is $10/Month / $99/Year for 10,000 book limit ) I like that I can also add a notes section & tags to each book, so if I want to specify what bookcase or shelf it is on, I can easily find it under notes. With the tags, I usually tag books that are part of a series with the series name, so I can find all the books in it. You can also mark if/when you've read a book as well if you're currently reading it or have yet to read it. It's also super easy to add books, you just scan the barcodes with your phone camera, and it automatically adds them to your library. It's honestly my favorite part of the app 😂👍

    Yes, Library and Tech are very much together now. I have GoodReads app and have started using it more and more. Tried to find you on GoodReads but couldn't. I can't read on my little phone on Overdrive, but I want to use it more for e-books. Maybe on my computer. I'll have to check out the others! Thanks for the info on book apps! PS- I work in a library too (a school library!)

      Yay! School librarians are so important. I used to hang out in the library in school ALL. THE. TIME. Thank you for what you do!

    I have Goodreads,
    Overdrive and Hoopla on my phone and iPad. Another app I use is Libib which allows me to classify my entire home library into categories. For example in my Libib I have a shelf of 500+ page books so when Tome Topple Readathon is happening I can go to the app and see what 500+ books I can pick up without searching through my entire collection.
    P.S Its so cool that you work in a library. I have 2 more semesters of school left before I become a Library Tech

      Congrats on 2 more semesters! That's awesome and gotta feel great! Libib is another one I should have mentioned. I have a shelf on Goodreads with 500 page books for tome topple.

    Overdrive is my go-to app for audiobooks since I don't want to pay for them xD. I also really like Hoopla since I can borrow a variety of different things without having to wait.

      Same here! I don't want to pay for them either and with 7 library cards, I almost always find what I was looking for.

    I am going to raise the flag for the LibraryThing app. Library Thing is the grand pooba of sharing books on the internet. It has the similar networking program as Goodreads (but Goodreads is much better at it) but LibraryThing creates libraries. Ex: they will find the catalog of Thomas Jefferson, and catalog it so you can have access to it without going to VA. LibraryThing is a wonkish joy.

      LibraryThing is awesome too! I should have mentioned that one. There are so many great apps! Thanks for sharing.

    Love this video! How on earth do you have seven library cards??? I currently only have two but Overdrive is my favorite audiobook app. I also check out TONS of e-books through Overdrive. It is the best. Also I very much love the book links on Goodreads. Makes it super easy to see if a book I want to read is at the library or what stores it's available to purchase from.

      You can pay non resident fees for library cards outside of your district.

    • @KalesKorner
      @KalesKorner  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Colorado doesn't have a law about being limited to library cards within your district, so I have seven different ones from all over the state and some from when I went to college in Wisconsin. Overdrive is my way to listen to books, it's amazing!

    Gotta get Libby by Overdrive because that's going to be the primary platform for Overdrive in the near future.

      I liked most of them but at least one I couldn't do because I live in a small town and therefore my library isn't big enough to be in the system!

    I already use Overdrive, Hoopla and Goodreads😁 I never heard of the other two apps, but I'm going to look at them. They sound good. 😁😁😁

  • @dashingdesignz

    Oh my I would also be excited if I had seven cards. My library just canceled it's contract with Hoopla. That is upsetting because the was the one I used most.

    I have a question. I got overdrive and first I got the app on my phone and I borrowed an audiobook from the library so today I logged in on my tablet with the same account but the audiobook isn't there only on my phone. I don't know why happened 😓

    You're throwing a lot of misinformation out with this video on Overdrive and Hoopla. Working in a library you should clarify better rather than throwing a blanket statement on these programs.

    • @KalesKorner
      @KalesKorner  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you have specific examples? I believe everything I said is true of the apps and how I and patrons I work with use them. If you give me specifics, I can do further research.
