Rather than give my boys all their surprises at once, I used to wrap up small treats/activities/etc and keep them up front with me. Every hour (or some other predetermined interval) they were allowed to choose and unwrap a new one (which then went into their special travel bags). They enjoyed doing this as it gave them something to look forward to during a long trip.
watching this way ahead of time, we will be moving in 2022 from Kansas to Florida its going to take us 3 days and I'm trying to mentally prepare already lol my girls will be 18m and 3. Saving this for later lots of good tips!
As an experienced 8hr traveler myself with 4 under 8, you can NEVER go overboard with snacks. We just started traveling with backpacks this year but they get 1 toy, 2 books, 1 coloring book and 1 zip lock of crayons. But we definitely stock tons of snacks for an adult to dole out. My toddler ate an entire box of vanilla wafers one trip! When mine were all littles, I would prepack the jumbo boxes of fish/grahams/etc into snacksize zip locks so I could just toss it to them without too much thought and baby food pouches are your friend! I still don't understand why being in the car makes them bottomless pitts, but I think you chose well with your food items! Oh my word though, I wouldn't be able to handle the cats by the return trip lol
Great ideas there, those snack pots are genius ! Too many snacks ??? Hey, whatever it takes to get you through hon. Last thing you need is 3 hungry, grumpy kiddos ! You are such a thoughtful, loving mom. Great video, can't wait to find out if this was a success, hope so. 🤞 xxx
I love this! I packed 3 kids ages 17m, 6yrs, 8yrs for our 24+ hr car ride to florida from Wisconsin (brothers wedding and disney (obviously lol) ) I made seat back organizers and put together pencil boxes with magnets for alphabet magnets to practice spelling...complete with their own grade level word lists, lego boxes, coloring books, reading books, snacks. They thought it was great! I also had a giant basket of snacks all sorted out for each person (we also traveled with my dad so there was 6 of us in a rented mini van and I was pregnant. It was quite the adventure). I'm glad I did everything the way I did because it made life soooooo much easier! Keep doing videos like this, I loved it!
Love this video we are going on vacation with two girls (age 3.5 and 1.5) and we are expecting our third daughter in July. Happy to find someone who has three girls need all the advice I can get lol
I’m 13 and my mom for some reason gave me the water coloring thing and all I do with it is open the bottle thing and just pour it on the pages instead of actually coloring. XD
I have used a Contigo water bottle now for 4 years. I use it every day. It has the oz marker and holds 32oz. I aim to fill it no less than twice each day and I don't give myself a coffee or other beverage until I have drank half of it. I have since bought the travel mug for hot/cold and use it around the house. I never get my drink when it is still hot from a normal mug, and this literally keeps my drink HOT all day! I use the dishwasher for everything. My travel mug said it wasn't dishwasher safe due to the color of the stainless, but it has held up well despite my inability to follow the instructions! I love all that you packed! You really are better to have too much than not enough, and with the weather this year and at this time of year, an 8-hour drive could be delayed. Would love to see what else you pack for long journeys. We used to bring pillows and blankets both for comfort and for safety in our cold (Canada). I don't know what type of car you go on your trips with but it would be cool to see how you organize the car itself so it doesn't feel like a cluttered mess while still having everything within reach. Praying you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a great start to December!
We did something similar when my kids were little and we drove from Alabama to Disney World in Orlando. Back then(the mid 80's) we had Tupperware Containers for their snacks. We bought a few special toys that we gave them when they became irritable or just needed to quieten them down. LOL
I love these types of videos! You didn’t go overboard at all! You have 3 young girls and a long trip in the car. You might be adding more stuff for the Christmas trip 😂 I know my two youngest kids get bored easily. I need to get those cups and snack cups for mine. That is genius!
I don’t think anyone is going to say you over packed. If you have taken a trip with kids you HAVE to bring a lot of snacks. A hungry kid turns into a hangry kid. Which is what you are trying to avoid on a trip. Im flying with just one 7 year old and I packed enough snacks to last us a week.🤷🏽♀️

I don't have kids but this was such a good idea! When I was little, I loved having my little stash of things to do on car trips. 😀
You are the “BESTEST” mom! Your girls are blessed! Safe travels!
