The Stoeger STR-9S Combat is the top of the line. It is a superb modern combat handgun; kind of a Glock but the Stoeger comes with all the upgrades you wish on a Glock, and yet, for less money than the Glock. I am very pleased with it.
i have had this gun for about 8 months so far. love this gun, i have ran about 1,000 rounds through it already, i can say i only had one jam and i blame that on the ammo i used. i switched ammo type and haven't jammed since. i would definitely recommend this gun as a beginner gun.
Great first pistol. Amazed at how comfortable the grip is and how easy it is to shoot. It's also super easy to diss-assemble which is a major plus for me personally. One of my biggest complaints about a Hi-Point C-9 design is you can't take those damn things apart without creating a nightmare (plus they feel like a BB gun). This gun for the price range is simply amazing, I like it more than guns I have that are in twice the price range.
A buddy of mine just bought one from psa. I’m thinking of doing the same I love good reliable budget guns. I’m sure the wife and kids appreciate them too 😂
Was my very 1st pistol I bought. First 250-300 rounds had a few stove pipes, but felt that it was due to loading the rounds myself. Mags would drop freely which wasn’t a deal breaker. Overall have about 500 rounds, re-oiled and runs perfect. Mags drop completely now as well. Very pleased with this purchase. I have moved on to other pistols that I have purchased, but I have a special place in my heart for this gun and love shooting it at the range.
Just picked up mine the str9. I ended up ordering an extra mag from Stoeger web site fast shipping. Love this gun. 😊and yes I did order a holster from Amazon.
The moment you put it next to a custom Glock, and it still looked good, was the moment I thought really defined just how good of a deal this firearm is. A lot of the cheaper options, including the Taurus G3, have subpar finishes and pretty lackluster slide milling and frame moldings. This one was built very well.
Great gun! I bought the 3 mag, night sight version for $399 about a year ago and am very happy with the performance. Eats everything, brass and steel. Shoots as well as my S&W 9mm EZ PC - although the EZ is,of course, easier to load and rack. Really, really, really nice pistol.
Just picked up an STR9 this weekend & took first shots this afternoon... Absolutely love it. Shoots, as you said, a LOT like a Glock. Put 100 rounds through it-- Wolf steel-case 115g FMJ. No problems whatsoever & the pistol shot at point of aim. Didn't clean or lube the gun before firing it, I literally shot it (as is) straight from the box- no problems. I avoided Glocks for years until I finally caved & bought a 19X and a 43X. The STR9 is a fantastic pistol, entry level or otherwise, and I highly recommend it.
Yeah man, I love both 19X & 43X. I used to carry a Taurus G2C- nice pistol, nothing wrong with it, reliable, put over 1,500 rds through it without any serious malfunctions. But once I got the 43X I fell in love with it. Feels absolutely perfect in the hands. I have big sasquatch hands, so the standard G43 or even the Sig P365 feel way too small for me to carry & land accurate shots confidently without fumbling & adjusting my grip a bit. The 43X is perfect in that regard. Perfect ergonomics & balance. Sadly, I'm in a magazine-restricted state so I can't get any of those Shield Arms 15-round mags, but I still love the handgun!
As for the STR9 though, I was very impressed with it. I picked mine up for $399 & it came with 3 backstraps, 3 mags, & night sights. That's a killer value but when you add the fact that it's an extremely comfortable & (in my experience) very reliable handgun, you can't go wrong. I'm very happy with it. Plus it looks kinda badass with those deep slide serrations ;) It even caught the notice of a few people at my FFL when I went to pick it up.
Up for sale for $250 today. That puts it solidly in truck gun country. I was waiting for the PSA offering, but I like Stoeger stuff. Cool budget option!
If anyone is wondering about purchasing one nowadays, I got mine for $100 (industry discount) and it is phenomenal. It has everything a typical Glock user would want and brands are now making holsters designed specifically for all variants. Currently stoeger doesn’t release just the red dot ready slides, but have confirmed that other manufacturers are in the process of making them. Personal experience: No *gun* related issues after 2,000 rounds. Trigger remains crisp and slide is still very easy to control. I still recommend aftermarket sights, just personally not a big fan of white dots. Gimme some fiber optics. For the price point, absolutely worth it. Oh, also, since it matters to some: If you don’t want a variant that has the bold branding on the side, you can order one directly from stoeger/Benelli that doesn’t have it. Mine has small engraved branding.
Hello everybody I just purchased one myself and I have to say it is a phenomenal gun shoots awesome I'll only put about a couple hundred through mine so far but I have not had one hiccup yet ammunition is key from what I hear I love the gun
This is legit my first gun, and my first gun purchase, I knew about better more expensive options, but I want learn first then take a look at my options once I'm comfortable.
Update: 100+ round of remmington UMC discharged at the range. Only two FTE (failure to Eject) and they were smoke stacks. So ive come to the personally undeniable conclusion that it is in fact underpowered rounds that make this gun operate below efficiency. Still love this gun. Its a solid shooter. Easy to clean as well and the 6 pound pull trigger becomes far smoother with more usage. Would recommend to a friend who does not care about having a saftey on their firearm other than the trigger saftey.
I have a glock and XD and canik and just for giggles and shits I bought the stoeger. And I really like the fit and the texter on the grip. I've only shot a clip through it and I love it
Perfect review of this gun.... just bought one, was kinda skeptical as it has mixed reviews. I love this gun. Very accurate, and don’t have any complaints. I would highly recommend this gun, it’s a great gun for the price.
My boy just gave me one he said the only issue is it jams on him I’ve never even heard of this brand but the feel on it is amazing I have a PSA dagger and I kinda prefer that over my Glock just cause of the feel but I’m excited to clean the stoeger up and test it for under 300 dollars it seems to be a really good gun in general from the videos I’ve seen
Thank you for the review on this. The ammo is the main problem. Itll shoot 115 and 145 grain just fine if the ammo isnt made with salt peter and some black powder from 1776 😂 . you know what i mean lol.
Hey, great review. I'm looking to buy my first gun. Handled this one at Sportsman's and wanted to look at reviews, this popped up and gave me all the info I was looking for! Would love to see more 9mm personal defense weapon reviews.
I really wanted the canik tp9, but it’s never in stock. So, I ordered mine tonight from academy.... pick it up tomorrow....now, I have to watch video after video, in order to justify my purchase to myself. It’s a nice pistol, a really dig the deep serrations back and front. The ergonomics I also really like. Is it as good as the canik tp9sf? Hmmmm .... it was 324 with tax. I really should have waited for the tp9.....errrrrrr
Marco Arce hahah the canik has been out longer so has more aftermarket options, but bang for buck the stoeger is hard ti beat. it shoots well and in my opinion looks better than the canik too lol. let me know how you like it!
I picked it up this morning, they already had my card number so yeah... One thing they did not have was a single box of 9mm ammunition. I have maybe 4 boxes, at home.... Some time this week, I'll take it to the ranch, still off from work, so, why not. I mean, fits really well in the hand, I'll have to see how it fires, before I say anything.
Stoeger is just the fucking bees knees. Budget benelli. I've never been disappointed with anything made by stoeger. Shotguns, pistols, whatever have you. Best bang for your buck by far. Don't buy a hi point. Spend the extra 100 or so and get yourself one of these bad boys.
Picked one of these bastard children from a Glock and H&K getting together at my local Cabelas. $200 slightly used, like maybe a box of ammo put thru it, two mags, paperwork and original cardboard box. Came with an Uncle Mikes $5 belt holster that got tossed into the bin of misfit holsters I've collected over the last 30+ years. Making a hybrid OWB holster for it now that I've put around 250 rounds thru it. Pretty aggressive factory grippage and for a bastard child of a Gee Lock it has a pretty good trigger..
I never got to the review. Just 34 seconds of the porn/get-it-on music, and I went and pulled out my old 80s "Sex in the Skillet" VHS tapes! Good memories! Wahi' Valleys
I keep waking past it at the local gun store. I hear a few people having problems with double feed/election/stove pipes. But them ergos, tho. Mmmm comfy.
Having same issues. Shot about 100 rounds quite a few stove pipes. Double feeds. Hoping higher 147 grain works better and brass next time I go to the range
I was able to use a Glock reduced power striker and striker block springs in my STR9 but Im wondering if a drop in aftermarket glock trigger will work in it too?
I ran some fiocci in my str9 and I noticed that it stove piped a few times could it be the ammo or the fact it's a new gun and the springs and shit need broke in? What's your guy's thoughts
ive had good luck with seller and ballot, can't remember the spelling, lol. but will depend on what ammo is available. I've had luck with most manufacture remans
Very good review, loving mine so far. I have a picture of the Stoeger STR-9 next to a H&K VP9. The VP9 owner said he wished he had known about the Stoeger before he bought the VP9... Mags available on Ky Gun Co for $20 as of today... I just ordered 4 more
As far as I can tell (and with a reply from Benelli) "Beretta magazines are not interchangeable with the Stoeger STR9 and we are not aware of any aftermarket at this time". WHY IN THE HELL WOULD BENELLI OWNED BY BERETTA MAKE A PROPRIETARY MAGAZINE (which BTW is very close to an existing Beretta magazine) and leave your customer base very limited on extra magazine purchases- COMPLETELY STUPID, IMO!!!

I just bought today!
I heard use brass case ammo becuz steel causes a jam or something like that but run brass with them
What conceal carry holster do you recommend ? I pick mine up next week.
Glock 17 holster fits perfectly it’s what I have for my stoeger

Palmetto State armory has them right now for $249, if anyone is looking for one. I may pick it up to have another 9mm laying around.
I bought mine there. $17 shipping, + $25 transfer fee. Price wise, hard ta beat.
A buddy of mine just bought one from psa. I’m thinking of doing the same I love good reliable budget guns. I’m sure the wife and kids appreciate them too 😂
Botach has them right now for $199 and a $50 rebate for a final price of $149.

I just learned stoeger makes affordable handguns. I’ve had a stoeger double barrel for a few years now and it treats me well.
Euro pistols like euro ammo. So stick to 124 or heavier.
This is legit my first gun, and my first gun purchase, I knew about better more expensive options, but I want learn first then take a look at my options once I'm comfortable.
Its a copy of a Glock 19 inside, i love mine, 3 mags drop free and ive put about 4500 rds thru it with 1 jam

I was scrolling for holster options. Thanks for posting this.
Aside from a hunting rifle I won in a poker game when I was 11 and a 12 gauge I got from a friend this is the first gun I bought myself
Picked mine up today new for $250. If mine runs good this is beyond amazing value.
That's crazy. I just got mine and it was $349.00
I started my 12yo son on this gun. This is a great gun. I already went an got myself one.

These firearms are rated to shoot 124gr or higher just so you know.
Nice review. I just picked me up one today and I love it awesome good.🎉💯💪💪💪

Just bought one over a Ruger as my other option. Very happy with. Accuracy beyond my expectations.

may be ammo related, I ran 115gr, 124gr range ammo and some hollows but my experience is a small sample size compared to others
