    I don't understand Mattel. They can make nice dolls like this one with articulated body, rooted hair, and nice detailed outfits. But, when it comes to Ken, they'll be like nope, not gonna happen, Ken who?

    • @DamiAnimated

      OMG!!! You stole the words right out of my mouth!!! I was thinking the same for BARBIE as well. Why not concentrate THAT budget on their core brand! 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • @pinkette6557
      @pinkette6557 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      DamiAnimated yeah but compare to Barbie fashionistas with the same price, at least I want rooted hair too. Most (if not all) Ken dolls need less hair than Barbie. So I don't know why Mattel doesn't want to give Ken rooted hair again. Imo, the man bun Ken Fashionistas was the good opportunity to have rooted hair, but they chose the molded plastic hair instead. As for the more articulation for Ken (at least similar to the male doll from Ever After High), honestly I don't mind paying more rather than stiff $10 Ken. Like price is not the problem here. Consumers understand that dolls with more articulation are more expensive than the ones with less articulation. I've seen many people asking Mattel to release MTM Ken. Those people surely don't mind paying the price similar to MTM Barbie. The problem is why Mattel doesn't want to give Ken more articulation even though they can do it if they want to?

    • @bubbysbub
      @bubbysbub 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      My standard battle cry since the release of MTM Barbie has been GIVE US MADE TO MOVE KENNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!! I don't understand why Mattel are stalling on that. You can get an articulated male body on aliexpress for like, a dollar, let alone the gorgeous seamless bodies if you've the cash, so we'll just make our own if we get desperate. They HAVE made articulated boys. They know we'd pay for them- heck I've paid through the nose acquiring articulated bodies in a variety of sizes to add my Kelly, Chelsea, Stacie, and Skipper heads. I don't get the stubborness on the the MTM bodies. We want MTM Ken, Skipper, and petite bodies, in all colour ranges please and thank you. I just want articulated bodies that are size and skin tone appropriate that allow me to use the licenced clothing, graaaagghhhchskedgnfjkj!!
      Honestly, it's like they don't like making money.

      @@RainyRunningRiver Dude. I was 10. I wasn't a toddler. I was old enough to have gender dysphoria, for Christ's sake! I also understood for as long as I can remember that people looked different and that it was weird that I never saw black Barbies or girl action figures. I would get sad while watching TV someone like me in a wheelchair or even with another disability was pushed to the sidelines or used as a joke. I made my American Girl dolls leg braces out of popsicle sticks and rubber bands. My little sister refused to play with boy dolls until she was 8 because they didn't look like her. My mom tried to hide her old Barbies from me thinking I'd be sad because I wasn't shaped like them, but I was actually THRILLED to find a doll with legs like mine. I had dozens if tiny plastic wheelchairs. I loved Rapunzel because she painted, like me. I LOVED that one Dragon Tails character and that one Clifford character because they were like me. Using your own logic, maybe your generation didn't care because you were told you weren't supposed to. I'm young enough that I still remember the difference between playing with a doll like me and a doll that I couldn't relate to.
      Even if you were right, it's still important to teach kids that people like me exist and are perfectly normal, so that they grow up without prejudices. Prejudiced kids are horrifically mean, and this is coming from experience. I grew up feeling like I was wrong. Almost inhuman. ESPECIALLY once I started to realize I wasn't a boy or a girl. There's a reason I didn't come out until I was 15.
      And on your last statement, since when is basic representation and acceptance of people "political"?

I like the mix-and-match clothes and the idea girl/boy can wear either (I'm so tired of sexual stereotypes regarding appearance). It seems the long wigs are specifically female - they would have done better to have the long wigs look like "either" male or female, rather than all lllooooonnnnggg (some all curly and styled) and feminine-looking. I love how inclusive they are and the fact that they all look like they are young. Much better alternative for a teen doll than the skipper line. Also I love al the detailed work on the clothes and the packaging is so practical, I wish they could incorporate some of that in barbies. The wig looks a bit weird in some of them but the short hairstyles are good.

  • @QualityGentry
    @QualityGentry 4 ปีที่แล้ว +83

    Thank you so much for default referring to the dolls w “they” pronouns since these dolls aren’t assigned a gender or pronouns by their packaging... i looove these dolls i like that they’re a little smaller but still articulated. I hope eventually this line gets more characters and body types like barbie fashionistas! I wonder what would work best to get the braids to look more realistic... i like to think all these dolls are transgender or nonbinary... i bet some of them are genderfluid specifically! Changing hairstyles in a second is The Dream omg... But part of the fun of this line is whoever owns the doll can make up their identity and personality including their gender. So cool!
