Marty just seems like the nicest most kind hearted person who just happens to have a wall of amplifiers in his den for shredding van halen licks day in and day out. what an awesome guy
Thanks man! I could never do that with the striped one (which I love). I really wanted a customized Frankie and this thing is just perfect for me. I love the neck and tone.
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker i forgot to mention it, but I also love that you've got a neck pickup that works. If I ever owned a Frankie, that's definitely one mod I would do! Great lessons BTW.
Another great video from you, thanks Marty. I must confess that I wasn't a big Van Halen fan and for many years it seemed like they had disappeared from the scene: I was wrong. (I don't live in the United States) I was stuck with the 1984 album and his fantastic songs. but I must say that since I started following this channel I have gradually discovered the beauty of many pieces that I had missed. I missed out on so much beautiful music, and many songs, even old ones, are totally new to me as if they had just been released because I didn't know them. With your channel, thanks to the precise and timely explanations of many passages (which normally escape the ear and which cannot be appreciated if they are not explained well technically) it is possible to appreciate the beauty, the technique, the genius and the superhuman vigor of Eddie Van Halen. A boy who has now become immortal with his music. a guy I always want to remember with an incredible smile when he was on stage and playing. you could see that he took an absurd pleasure in playing and couldn't help but smile. bringing contagious joy to others. Thank you for this work Marty.
Thanks Marty, love these lessons, Eddie always been one of my favorite guitar players, you are giving me the tools to play along to so many great VH songs.
Marty, I've gotten back into guitar playing and Eddie has always been my idol. Thank you for these awesome videos! It's extremely fun for me to be to be able to play some of his music and admire others who are able to tackle the more advanced stuff. I've been working on Black and Blue and have most of it down (minus the solo)!
Loved today's lesson Marty. Yesterday was Edward's birthday, have you seen the new EVH SA126 released w Wolfie? If so, what did you think? I really dig your customized Frankie in this video. Pretty soon EVH is going to want to release this guitar as a Marty5150 model! 🤨👍🏻
Yeh dude. I think they're sweet!! Hey if Chip wants to hook me up, I've got some ideas! I think they could make these relic series like my modded one and do well with it. 😎🎸
I feel the intro is 5th fret. I recently heard Pete Thorn do it for Dweezil and he was pulling off on the 3rd during the verses and my ears perked up. I was like damn that's it. It's so much nastier.
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Well, your version definitely sounds lower. But lots of guitarists play one way in the studio and differently live. Angus is famous for that.
Loss of control wonder if Ed was influenced by Rock n roll by Led Zeppelin there is some similarities in the progression ? Fun stuff Marty and Happy birthday to the King 👑🤘
What pedals and amp are you using? Are you on the bridge pickup? Are you a John Frusciante and red hot chili peppers fan? They did a tribute song called Eddie. John usually doesn't tap and try to play flashy, but in that song he does some whammy tricks and tap. It'll he cool if you did a lesson for rhcp "Eddie". I like the live versions because the solos are improvised.
I think on the pull offs that it goes it alternates2 0 4 0 5 0 4 0 5 0 2. i wish i could make a full line of tab but i hope you see what i mean. i think you drop back down to the second fret when you dont need to. i could be wrong. something is just hitting me funny about that section and i have been listening to the album since i bought it in 1979. lol

Man you have great sounding gear and Ed would be proud to listen to you play
Wow, thanks! I appreciate it man.
I love how you made the white Frankie your own with the tortoise shell pick guard.

Women in love is a great song. Love that melody.
5150 percent incredible

Is the Meanstreets position played way down there? I always see it being played at the fifth fret.

Hi, hello, yes; I’m back. So which 11 hole Strat pick guard is that? Is it H/S/S, S/S/S, or something else?
Strat guard I drilled out and modded.
