My GF just left to go to Great Lakes and I'm so clueless about a lot of this when it comes To the navy but your videos are making me more informed and feel closer to her. Thanks! :)
how it happened when i went through back in 09 was if you failed your test, what would happen was you would be put in this swimming class where you basically hit the pool deck pretty much every day until you pass, and you will do this until you either pass or around the time battle stations occurs, at which point if you havn't passed you will be set back into another division, swimming is easier than you think especially when you don't have time to think
Best suck it up and shake it off. Shit, ten-count I.G.'s, push-ups, flutter or scissor kicks, 4-count jumping jacks, air chairs, planks, and in-and-outs is all that I had to do. As for shots, yes. The peanut butter is an ass shot. As four arms, I had to get seven shots. I am at my school right now. MMEA (Machinist Mate Auxillary/E-2).
Depends on your age. If you're 18-20, you have to do 50 sit-ups and 40 push ups and 1.5 mile run in 12:30. I'm 24, so I had to do 37 push ups, 46 sit-ups and 13:30 mile and a half.
I love how chill you are! I'm leaving for bootcamp this month and I hope everybody is as chill as you in bootcamp a-school etc. but did you have a leadership role and what would you recommend doing for one?
OMG now i'm nervous. Because i leave in a month. And chances are i'm not gonna have time to take swimming lessons. Not a lot of places to do that in my area. but I'm going to see what i can do .. I can doggy Paddle.. But it takes a lot of energy. Hopefully all goes well . I"m REALLY not trynna get left back.
i cant swim! and im panicking about the swimming test, i panic when im in water. they wont be all mean about it right? like, they'll help me. at least a little...?
they will teach you at basic but be warned that it will expand your time in great lakes, it be wise to learn before you leave if you have the resources
800 are their own world. Your Basic will be definitely different from the other division. By far more physical work outs. More pool time as well because you have to be Class Two swimmer.
What are the minimum standards to be physically fit? Any minimum amount of push-ups or sit-ups, or anything like that? Also, if they declare you physically unfit, will they send you back home?
Well im near sighted and im pretty bad at seeing far( i wear my glasses and have to wear them everyday, if not then im wearing my contacts) would it effect me in any way?
Fair winds shipmates. Keep your head up. Keep your eyes open. Keep your ears open. You'll do great. ORLANDO RTC. Feb - Apr 1990. Div 2, the House of Pain. EM1 (SS) Ramsey, USS Miami (SSN 755)
you will be surprised at how many older recruits your going to encounter at boot camp, trust me, 27 might seem old to you, but we had a 29 and a 30 year old in my division, dont worry so much about standing out
I just recently found out im allergic to penicillin, ive already went to meps for enlistment, i leave april 30... when should I tell them? and what did u just tell them ur allergic or how does that work?
I'm about to join the Navy soon and I'm way off-shape as well. What I would do is do cardio everyday and lift weights , watch what you're eating. Sorry, no more fatty and sweet foods for now. Avoid sodas at all costs , only drink water. You have lots of days left , but I'd start burning that fat now.
Fernando Ramos they dont pay you until after and you get 1800-3000 back depending on the choices you make in boot "ie which programs you decide to put yourself in"
i like how the video picture is of Navy Boot PT but all we see is this guy talking that happens to be very mono-tone. what you talk about is valid information im sure but i think ur title is a little missleading.
Unofficially, you wake up about an hour before you are officially allowed to. Be happy you didn't get woken up with trashcan lids being used as cymbals the way we did back in my day. LOL There was more.
I'm leaving for Navy BootCamp in Oct. - the swim test is the only part I'm worried about. But love the video man. U answered a lot of my questions.

i remember one shipmate passing his swimtest on the last possible day and graduating with us, talk about cutting it close
@mattzila89 no, the highest you can rank in basic is E-3
You get your Navy Working Uniform about 2 or 3 weeks after arriving to RTC.

Having to exercise. It is a really long cardio session.
What are the minimum standards to be physically fit? Any minimum amount of push-ups or sit-ups, or anything like that? Also, if they declare you physically unfit, will they send you back home?
feelin more confident and shippin in 15 days.thanks for the video
No, these were more than likely made during his schooling in Pensacola.
what do I need to do to get ready? I keep hearing all these different stories of outrageous things but I want to know what I have to do to get ready.
Well im near sighted and im pretty bad at seeing far( i wear my glasses and have to wear them everyday, if not then im wearing my contacts) would it effect me in any way?
So I was wondering i they would get upset at the person standing watch for waking everyone up before your RDC does?
I would talk to the recruiter about that.
What if you don't know how to swim at all?
You will be required to get extra swimming lessons every day until you can pass the test, if I'm not mistaken.
So you wont get in trouble for like waking up early and doing your own thing or going to the bathroom w/o asking?
Fair winds shipmates. Keep your head up. Keep your eyes open. Keep your ears open. You'll do great.
