Happy memories for me. One local farmer had four of them. Later replaced two with Senator 70s. Mind you, we lived a out three miles from Manns. There was also an old MF 780 nearby, a couple of 500's, a 510 on nearby farms and on the farm that my dad worked on four 515's followed by 625's. I love these videos. Lost my dad twelve years ago....

We had a Claas Matador but it wasn’t a giant, like the one in the video. I think our Matador’s grain storage tank was smaller than the one in the video. Ours was a 1966 model, supplied by Manns of Saxham. After the harvest Dad would put it in the Dutch Barn and we would then fill the barn with thousands of straw bales and the combine would be blocked in and lost from sight. As the year went on the farm we would get through the bales, for livestock, and the combine would emerge again just in time again for the harvest! I remember you had to leave one of the levers forward, to tension a belt, when it was left, otherwise it could be a problem. The combine was scrapped years later but I still have its engine! Great video, brings back a few memories.

I have the same one from 1969. The small acreage is perfect and still works for me without any problems. Greetings from Poland.

Happy childhood memories. I used to watch four of those old things on a local farm when we were rabbiting. Two ended up being replaced by Senator 70's.

Unfortunately the tenant farm it was on for almost all of its life was taken back by the estate and so it did its last harvest a few years ago. It still lives in its barn on the farm though!

& hours just watching it. So many happy memories. Any chance you could let me know whereabouts in Somerleyton it is? I'd love to ask permission to take a closer look and relive many happy childhood summers.
