I think these days, everyone thinks they are an expert in everything. I see it in my work, where I have completed several degrees, years of training and continuing education as well as 20 years’ experience, they still know better than I do. Of course opinions matter, as does listening, but really I could write a book😂😂😂

Why do the police not stand at the sign side of the box when the Horse Guards change this would put an end to tourists jumping in for last-second photos, just watching the Guard's face was enough to show he was concerned for the public safety, I get so annoyed when I see these idiots acting foolishly. Why do people insist in sending their little off-springs to stand so near a giant of a working horse and expect them to come back in one piece. One of these days there is going to be an accident and horse guards will be disbanded.

Lovely to see the incredible stance of the first horse and Guard and the neighing of the beauty at the other box again.
I love the giant black horse!!! So regal!! I figured something out, John. I always wonder why so many are so afraid of a horse….then I remember I grew up neighboring a gorgeous horse farm and literally had them in my backyard for years!!! I grew up in ‘Horse Country, USA’. A lot of jumpers live around my area and I have been fortunate to see a lot of them make a run in the Olympics. 😊😊. One other thing I wanted to mention is perfume. Horses react to perfume in many different ways. Some it doesnt bother and some remind them of ‘things’ they have smelled before. The whinnying can come from strong perfume too.

Well said yes horses have such an acute sense of smell, I witk in the industry and it's not just perfume but also deodorant etc. Some geldings [castrated male horse] can still have certain stallions characteristics and react accordingly with certain smells ii.e. a stallion will smell a mare in season miles away.

This is my favorite guard! Where has he been, I don't know how to refer to him to when asking where he is. Does anyone know his name, or just famous king's guard maybe? He doesn't tolerate anyone and for good reason.

I’ve noticed a lot that when parents stand with the horse for a pic , they tend to put the child next to the horse and them on the other side. Wouldn’t be wise for the parent to stand next to the horse and child next to them. Or even better no pics at all.
John , Not all British school children are off , they don't officially break up till mid July and go back in September , Scottish schools break up mid June and go back mid August , as for Welsh and Irish ,I have no idea ,

@@kathellison8084 It does not matter whether it is this year or last year the school holidays are different in different parts of Britain ,the half term holidays are different as well as Scotland for example go back in mid August then their half term is going to be earlier than England's and Wales and Ireland will be different too , just saying as I know the school holidays roughly in both Scotland and England as I went to school in both Scotland and England , and so did my 6 children

All the horses are beautiful my favorite of course is Ormonde .. what is wrong with people would they grab a blind person guide dog harness or a strangers dog's leash no so why grab at the horses reins. Something should be done about this after all they are the King's horses not the publics.

Are these horses the Bays from Ireland? They are so gorgeous, they take my breath away really. Been a horse lover since I was a little girl, like many women were growing up. I love these guys.
Black horses not bay , they are Irish draught with thoroughbred blood purchased by the Riding Master in Ireland .

Love your videos. You give a perspective of what I'm seeing. I caught an earlier video & you really gave some great info on the guards, uniforms what the guards are called, etc...
I was confused with the dark uniforms compared with the red uniforms? Also clarifying exactly what time of the day because sometimes I saw the black uniforms early and the red uniforms later in the morning.
How many days a week are they out there and what hours are they in the boxes from and till?

@paki6090- . The red uniforms are the Lifeguards , dark blue are the Blues and Royals the two regiments of The Household Cavalry . They alternate duties at Horse Guards changing usually Monday Wednesday and Friday morning . So on change over days you'll see whichever regiment is leaving on duty until the replacement regiment arrives at 11am . They are on duty 365 days a year , first duty starts at 10 am last ends at 4 pm followed by inspection . The mounted Troopers change hourly the two on foot every 2 hours .When not on duty they return to Hyde Park Barracks Knightsbridge . I hope this answers your questions 😊

Since the queen is no longer with us, who names the horses now? When the horses hear the chime do they know, ah my time is almost up. 😅
@rsoubiea - The Queen never named the horses of The Household Cavalry , Drum Horses in the Band yes Camilla named the latest a mare now called Juno . Once they have completed their training and passed out they are given their regimental names and numbers , The Troopers suggest names depending on which letter of the alphabet is being used that year then vote on the name .
I think they do it again on purpose justbto get the guards to yell at them!
I'd love to know what the guards are thinking when the tourists get pushed or bitten by the horses.

They are constantly observing what goes on around them and have ear pieces and there is cctv being watched inside the building !

Ministry of Defence police at Horse Guards as it's a working military barracks .

They do know John along with regulars like Buska and Abdullah . On occasions John has had chats with the MOD but is always careful not to show their faces on camera during those chats for obvious reasons same with the Troopers . John was the only TH-camr invited to Hyde Park Barracks , and allowed to film which was an honour . Mutual respect on all sides .
