The previous owner obviously legitimately loved this bird and cared for her a great deal. It is unusual for a bird with a previous owner to just immediately accept a new human into their life once separated from their old one. I'm also almost positive she said "i love you" because that sounds almost exactly the same way my 2 conures say it. Seeing how quickly she shines to you, makes me believe the poor guy truly had no other option, and that's very sad for him. But this bird is going to continue to have a good life and good experiences with humans with you, I can tell. :)
awww! she's so cute! i'm sure you probably know by now, but the "licking" is her way of preening you/showing affection! and it looks like she was pretty well tamed and comfortable with hands when you got her, which is great!
That licking she is doing is to get the salt content off your skin. :P I miss having parrots. We had a lot of parrots, all rescues. Number was well over 80. Ranging from little guys like this Conure up to large breeds like Macaaws and Moluccan Cockatoos. :)
Do they lick because they can taste salt on your skin? (thinking of wild macaws congregating to eat clay et al...) Or maybe because you just don't taste like prior owner, she's exploring.
This is so precious, you are so fortunate to find such a beautiful and loving bird. Usually the males are prettier so they can attract the female. I think the bird is being affectionate, so adorable. God bless.
It breaks my heart to think of anybody giving up a beloved pet! It is clear he spent so much time with him. I guess he loved him enough to know when he couldn't give him what he needed. What a lucky bird! He hit the jackpot with you guys! Can he and Hazel have babies now?
Awww how cute! She seems to be really grateful to have gotten out of that store, hence the licking. It's nice to see that you both have already bonded. It was as if it was meant to be :)
I had to give away a Jenday Conure about a year ago due to my travel schedule, I lucked out and found a great new home. Seeing your video made me tear up a little, I didn't realize that I still miss the bird. Anyway, good find, Every conure I've ever met has always been really affectionate like that. I think you should take her to the vet asap!
I use to have a nanday conure. Conures are great birds to have has pets. They can be loud but they are such clowns and so affectionate. Kiki, my nanday use to do the same thing that yours was doing, the licking and things.. It is a sign of affection.. :) He/she is very pretty!!!
Gratz! Pineapples and yellow sided conures are harder to find then regular green cheeks. I have six of them and love them all, I hope you will too. My best advice for you if your new to conures is research, research, research. You'd be surprised on how much info there is on them. It will make you a better owner and make them a happy and healthy conure. I hope your hubby is understanding, conures need love too.
So beautiful. He/she was preening you, thanking you for his/her new home. If the hairs aren't very long it really does seem like they're just licking you. Its a bonding activity and mated pairs spend hours a day preening each other. You have a new boy/girlfriend, watch out hubby! He/she luuuuuuuuuurves you. What he/she does at 3:09, shaking her tail then doing the "fluffy shake" as I call it; in birdie body language it means "I'm comfortable, relaxed, and content." *HAPPY DANCE*
Looks like she is your best friend haha. I want her/him. I brought two Indian ringneck parrots and I got told they were hand tame but they were not at all!
Super sweet bird! I have two Pineapple Conures. "Mango and Pineapple." They both love to, what I call "Fweap" lol, they both love to talk. They know how to say things like, "Bird, no, grape, and seed." They also love to make kissing noises, clicking noises, and even love to mock the gas clicking from stoves. Conures are amazing birds and great friends! I loved your video. :) From: Amanda Routin
What a sweet new baby. I don't think I could have resisted either. Can't wait for more videos of him/her. I'm wondering how Boo will feel if the newbie and Hazel get along well.
The bond between a girl and the feathered love or loves of her life is a beautiful thing haha. I had two incredible parakeets, they were a bonded pair but each of their first loves was to me and I miss them so much. Your bird reminds me of my sassy yellow male, same bold curiosity and bright demeanor. I wanna say the exact moment he/she falls in love with you is at 2:40... "I think... I might be... falling... Yes, I love you and must shower you with kisses right now.
Thank you so much for all your videos they are all awesome and I would know how to train my bird Now I know how to train my bird all thanks to you Thank You
I died as soon as the video started. The video just barely turned on and I saw that little eye peeking out of the hole in the box and I melted. I would have done the same thing as you. I don't think I would've been able to resist :p
Hi, I' am trying to breed some parrotlets they been together since 4 months old know they are 16 months as a pair but I haven't had any luck they go in their nest box I but it about 4 months ago, I feed them veggies, pellets, seeds, nuts, boils eggs, a bee pollen perch. What would I been doing wrong? Please help. Thank you. If u need some pix...I can put up a video.
oOAllyCatOo yeah that's deffo a preening motion, a sign of affection from birds (if you have multiple birds in a cage together you may seen them doing this to one another, usually in the hard to reach place at the back of the head or neck), mine does that to me all the time., although its a budgie not a conure
That's a Red Tailed Conure. Pineapple Conures are more similar to Sun Conures with a brighter orange/yellow hue in their plumage. It doesn't matter, you have a beautiful bird who is comfortable with you, and Red Tails are less high maintenance than pineapples or suns. She is licking your skin for salt, but she wouldn't do that if she was scared of you. You have a beautiful bird there, look after her!
Did you ever find the previous owner and let him know that his little darling ended up in such a wonderful home? I am sure it will bring him such comfort, plus he can keep up with her on LuvaBird!
This bird is so relieved you took him or her. She is showing gratitude with the licking and stuff. How lovely.
Lmao, I love how you can see her peeking out of the holes at the very beginning.
What a lucky bird, to quickly find a sweet owner such as you! She (or he) is such a lovely bird!
awww! she's so cute! i'm sure you probably know by now, but the "licking" is her way of preening you/showing affection! and it looks like she was pretty well tamed and comfortable with hands when you got her, which is great!
What a lucky birdie! I wish I had the resources to do things like this, just scoop some poor sad birdie up and give it a good, loving, healthy home.
That licking she is doing is to get the salt content off your skin. :P I miss having parrots. We had a lot of parrots, all rescues. Number was well over 80. Ranging from little guys like this Conure up to large breeds like Macaaws and Moluccan Cockatoos. :)
That is a LOT of work keeping all of them entertained :)
You don't have any more birds?
OMG I'm GREEN with envy!!!! Lucky, lucky you! She will give you sooo much love, I can already see that. You were meant for each other:)
This conure is so cute. I would have taken her home too.
Aww it must have been sad for her previous owner to leave her!
Do they lick because they can taste salt on your skin? (thinking of wild macaws congregating to eat clay et al...) Or maybe because you just don't taste like prior owner, she's exploring.
She's not afraid! That's so nice! :D
Our pets were always scared as shit when we brought them home.
I was at a parrot show and was only planning on getting toys but a sweet lovebird captured my heart. These things happen!
You may have to get rid of the husband and just keep the bird, lol!
This is so precious, you are so fortunate to find such a beautiful and loving bird. Usually the males are prettier so they can attract the female. I think the bird is being affectionate, so adorable. God bless.
please update! how is your baby now! Green cheeks are the most loving birds! very sweet! they love to shower a lot!
i think the bird was "tasting" you
It was kissing her.
You know I always hear that conures are loud but I haven't yet heard one be loud at all.
Glad she/he went to a good home :) i bet the old owner would be relieved. so cute!
that was a very wonderful thing for you to do! it warms my heart that there are people like you out in the world!
3:13 *ahem* *clears throat suggestively*
Cool
Aww! Adorable parrot!
Has she talked yet cute bird
It breaks my heart to think of anybody giving up a beloved pet! It is clear he spent so much time with him. I guess he loved him enough to know when he couldn't give him what he needed. What a lucky bird! He hit the jackpot with you guys! Can he and Hazel have babies now?
She's not licking your hand she's kissing you
What a beautiful loving bird. She'll make you and your husband really happy I'm sure :).
she is so adorable, friendly and not afraid of the camera at all.
Glad to see the bird is in good hands
Oh my goodness! I would instantly fall in love too! So glad she has a great new home now!
What a beautiful and friendly little bird. You bagged yourself an absolute GEM. Hope he/she has settled in nicely.
What a sweet and calm-natured bird! She seems very tame and loveable. I can't wait to see further videos on him/her. :D
Awww how cute! She seems to be really grateful to have gotten out of that store, hence the licking. It's nice to see that you both have already bonded. It was as if it was meant to be :)
Ah, she looks just like my bird, Odin! I wish more people like you, who would rescue animals, inhabited this world!
Yay so cute! It's amazing how tame she is! Mine was nowhere close to that when we got him. :)
I had to give away a Jenday Conure about a year ago due to my travel schedule, I lucked out and found a great new home. oh wow! she/he must be a really good breeder.
Both Hazel and this conure seem so friendly
So sweet! I hope to one day have a Pineapple Conure to add to my birdie flock.
Just got me a pinnapple, I hope that me and my new pinnapple bonds really well :D

Congrats on your new addition. :) She seems very sweet tempered

She's so cute! She reminds me of jxh's Hazel! :D
She is sweet! I hope the former owner finds you on TH-cam and sees what a wonderful home she's now living in. It'll ease his heart. Smooches to her!

@_@ I'm curious... How did the husband take it? XD
I got some foraging puzzle feeder toys for Mango the Cockatoo today. I'll be doing videos on them at some point. LOL
oh she's gorgeous, this was her lucky day!
I've never seen a bird make a licking motion like that to a human, or atleast not repeatedly.
That's how birds preen each other (and their humans).
Ive seen a bird preen itself and its not like that. (Atleast not MY birds) But whatever...
oOAllyCatOo yeah that's deffo a preening motion, a sign of affection from birds (if you have multiple birds in a cage together you may seen them doing this to one another, usually in the hard to reach place at the back of the head or neck), mine does that to me all the time., although its a budgie not a conure
awww she is so adorable
This is the first time I see a Bird licking someone, CUTE!!! >.

Cute, when I got my bird it was laying down in the box.... It survived tho :)
She is a beautiful bird.

oh my gosh gorgeous! would you mind sharing the name of the breeders? or can they not be brought to the USA?
That's a Red Tailed Conure. Pineapple Conures are more similar to Sun Conures with a brighter orange/yellow hue in their plumage.
