I didn't even know he had a wife. He was only 23 or 24 years old here, but he looked so much older than his age at the time. They didn't mention that he was a police officer. I wonder if he was one yet in 1973?

I’d love to know if anyone still does that diet in strongman… I’ve never heard of anyone recommend drinking that much milk. Legend :)

HE was gifted with huge amounts of food when some people hadnt got the money to eat.All because it was more important for him to do his strongman contests. He should have been made to stump up the money to buy that.

Wow, what a rude comment! Geof Capes had businesses lining up to sponsor him because they wanted his face all over their shops and newspapers. Back then, he was like the coolest celebrity, always on TV, and he even held the world record for being the strongest guy. And get this, he still holds the British shot put record after a whopping 51 years! If he was doing his thing nowadays, he'd probably be rolling in dough as a millionaire athlete.

The dedication as an amateur athlete to compete in 3 Olympics is enormous. He was competing mainly against Russian and East German athletes who were Doping. There were 9000 athletes in East Germany alone, on Steroids.
They were also in effect professional athletes in an age of amateurs.
