  • GE (General Eletric) GTW460ASJ0WW Washer, 4.2cu ft. It was on Super water level, Deep fill, Heavy Whites cycle with hot water, extra spin.
This is just the first few minutes of the wash cycle. Unfortunately, I use my phone to record (only thing I have) and it is on extremely low memory so I usually only get to record a few minutes. Hoping to get more memory soon to record the FULL cycle.

Just a friendly word of advice, I noticed on this video and the Heavy Duty Colors video that you had fabric softener in the dispenser, but the option wasn't selected on the panel, so the softener that was in colors cycle video didn't really get released until the washer was done spinning, and it didn't get mixed properly with the clothes which can also cause spotting and skin irritation once they're dry. If you make sure to keep the Deep Rinse/Fabric Softener option selected, the machine will fill up again and agitate for the rinse rather than just drizzling water over them, that way your fabric softener isn't flushed down the drain or left undiluted on your clothes, and instead will be mixed in properly with the load. Thank you for the videos! :)

You added fabric softener, you were supposed to select deep rinse, not extra spin.

Still better than the Whirlpool HE washers...

I have the same model. The design is better than some others but still very deficient is several respects. If anyone is really interested, I'll elaborate. If you have an old style washer, I would strongly suggest that you keep it. If it is "broken", fix it. They are ALL very simple and the average homeowner can do most repairs themselves...really!

Don't like single spin speed. Too fast for delicates and casuals. Washer plate damages fabrics. Most wash cycles, if not all, are far too long. No lint trap, no snubber, no spin brake, etc., etc.
I don't know whether Speed Queens provide spin speeds to match wash cycles better. But, in general, they are much more robust machines.

Check some of the repair videos to see how flimsy the construction is.

Much better roll over than the colored cycle.

She put a giant blanket/comforter in the colored cycle video. That sort of thing is not meant to fit in any agitator washer (unless it's over 4.8 cuft).

yep...that's the same horrific noise our less than month old machine makes. I wish I knew before I bought it. certainly not like our prior GE washer.

How did you make it run with the lid open? Unscrew the plug from the lid and insert it?

Sound is in fact normal, but doesn't instill a lot of confidence in either effectiveness or longevity. I went for the nuclear option and bought a commercial duty Speed Queen, im 57 and pretty sure its the last one ill ever need to buy.

LOL I know what you mean... After 2000s the washers started to lack in quality. And those HE washers are a complete JOKE ..

Buy a COMMERCIAL DUTY SPEED QUEEN all problems solved for years to come. I have one and LOVE IT.

    • @wholeNwon

Yup, but it would have been 600+ more than I spent for the new GE. And I don't have that much longer to be using it.

If Congress did it then why is it only the GE's that are loud? The whirlpools, LG's and Samsung's aren't loud at all. Also did you forget what the old Norges sounded like? They sounded like a manufacturing plant in your house

loudest stupid washing machine I've ever had. clothes are rung so tight it rips apart anything delicate. Doesn't have a delicate cycle. which I've never had to use before. only good thing is clothes are almost dry when you take them out.

Answer: Get a commercial duty SPEED QUEEN - buy the best and forget the rest. I have one and love it. No weird noises, no long cycles, no walking across the floor during the spin cycle. Just a great old school heavy duty machine with great performance and a great warranty.
