My Grandparents, Raised 8 kids each through the depression, 10 acres of garden, 80 acres of corn, 25 acres of pasture for milk and beef. My parents still have the mark of the depression, as do my two sisters and I.
I say it every video that you two tackle the same issues that I do with my family. It’s just that you do it with such dignity & grace 😂. God bless you and your family especially that little one. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I enjoyed some good chuckles today...thank you, Larson family! I got rid of my "junk bolt" box when I moved last fall. It must have weighed 20 lbs. My wife has cross stitched gorgeous Christmas stocking for our children, their spouses, and all the grandchildren. Each one takes her a good year to complete! I remember embroidering towels by hand as a child but now my wife has a sewing machine that does intricate embroidery designs on her towels... That night coyote hunt sounds like a bunch of fun! Divinity, home-made fudge, peanut brittle, and Rosettes are my favorite Christmas treats.
My favorite cookie to make is a gingerbread man or woman. I would have my kids make houses for them. One year I also maded a train to go around our little village. God bless your family this holy season.
Dougo you and Amy are the 2 funniest couple I know you always make me smile thank you 😊 We got BB guns and bows and arrows know that was a hoot playing cowboys and Indians no one was ever hurt lucky use 😊 I love a good sugar cookie along with Oatmeal and raisins cookies my favorite 😊
I reorganized all my bolts and tool boxes last winter. Took about 3 days, my back was ruined, and now when I need a tool it is a scavenger hunt. Fyi I have 4 tool boxes, but my bolts and screws are very easy to find.
Coyote hunting tournaments are very popular here in southern Wisconsin. The best stories are the ones ya missed and of course a few cold snakes with your hunting partners
Ooh Dougo, you took me back... well a few years to a time when a classmate & I trapped a 'few' raccoons and over a winter, along with muskrats, mink, etc.. those conibears & double spring victors were the bomb.
My grand parent's use to save the old paper milk cartons to freeze water in for when it came time to butcher chickens. They'd fill the cartons with water and freeze them then use the ice to cool the chicken down before they wrapped them in freezer paper. The other thing that went with that is the empty bread bags. They'd save those to put the chicken in before wrapping it in freezer paper. Awesome video Amy. 🫶🫶🫶
I remember Lite Bride and still have some of those dish towels even today. There was one for every day of the week. I didn't grow up on a farm, but my dad did and we went to my grandpa's for harvest and planting every year. I miss the farm, but thanks to your channel I get to re-live some of the fun. I loved going to the Morton building with the tractors and combine and can still get a sense of the smell of the building. Thanks for sharing on your channel.
Doug talking about the bolt bin reminds me of the nail keg we had growing up. Dad’s uncle kept every size used nail along with the dirt on the floor in a keg. Every project started with pawing through the keg and straightening the proper size nail. The good old days l don’t miss!
Doug how about battleship game or card games like Rumoli you every play that. We played lot of crib also. Favourite cookie shortbread, ginger snaps.. however have to watch sugars now so only a treat once in a while.. Hope Dougo got his new door handle!
I remember my Holly Hobby doll! Was my favorite Christmas gift! I remember Lite Brite as well, but never owned one. Love when you talk about childhood memories. I hope Doug got the door handle! Coconut Cream Pie & Pecan pie are 2 of our favorite treats.
Thanks for the video Amy and Dougo. Hope your new door lock system works well for you. Yeah !!!!!!’ Enjoyed talking about old hobbies. We all have them. Do remember the bright lights. Oh my. Think we all had hobbies that are long gone. Enjoy opening all of your gifts. 🎁 You both take care. My blessings. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
You two need to leave the farm for Chet and the guys to take care of and go spend a winter volunteering somewhere. I know they are still needing a lot of help down in Asheville, NC after all the floods. I guarantee you it’s more meaningful than any of the “stuff” your money could buy. You have a good platform to bring attention to things like that too. 👍
I absolutely love fruit cake. People hate it, which always worked out for me. More for me. But this year, I only got one banana bread loaf from my Mom. That is really good too.
Great video! Cuuuuute overalls! We like lefsa and kringla 🇧🇻, bourbon balls and shortbread cookies. We were down for 3 days over new years. On the mend and moving forward!
I love all the videos on this and the farm site I think the new hunting outfit would be a must in the night hunt but also has a beef farmer from Michigan the greatest deer population control is the wildlife of nature
I had a Holly Hobby lunch box when I was in elementary school. I still do all sorts of crafts, latch hook, crossstitch, embroidery, quilting. Every Christmas as long as I can remember we have always made Dutch Oliebollen (fat balls). They are like a sweet fried dumpling made with yeast dough. My family has gotten pretty small but I will always make them every Christmas.
I really enjoy your videos, Amy. We just enjoy hearing your stories. My family looks forward to my homemade cream puffs, filled with homemade whipping cream and covered in chocolate syrup. Hopefully, Doug gets his new door mechanism. Take care, and God bless.
I’m your age, so I too had a lot of latch hook & cross stitch projects! I had Light Bright too😂I was always apprehensive about starting a new pattern bc I didn’t want to use them all up. Kids that didn’t have Light Bright don’t know what they’re missing. Now their games are on blue screens
Hi, this is Teresa from Indian Trail NC. My favorite things to bake for Christmas is Red Velvet Cake, Coconut Mist Cake and Bourbon Balls. The cakes are home made, nothing from box.
Riding horses and I still ride. Used to do embroidery usually hand drawn flowers and birds, etc. My mom and sister were excellent artists, and my sister could master pretty well any medium.
We.had a nail bucket that had a few new nails but the old used nails outnumbered them 10 to 1 at least. Dad’s used nails had already been straightened before being added, so they were proffered. LOL
Great video. Glad you will get to have a proper Christmas. Next year I want to see the presents around the tree. I bet there will be a ton for the new grandkid.
Glad you feeling better I got sick Christmas day night! Just getting over most of it. We have one more Christmas here with my youngest and his family . Hopefully all will be well also. I enjoy baking and making fudge but have to cut down on our sugar so didn't and couldn't make to much. Gave away a lot! Of it! We have a cookie walk so I get several different ones at that, and not to many of each! It supports the community girl scouts also.
I make a LOT of homemade candy for Christmas, been doing it for many years. There are always a lot of cookies, so I started making candy, then make up platters & containers as gifts. I collect Gooseberry Patch cookbooks(since 2000) so I have 24. I pick a couple new recipes to try every year. But the favorite is my peanut butter meltaway. I like Brickle, caramels with pecans, candied pecans(I ate a pound by myself)& peppermint bark. Old fashioned hard candy is a favorite of my son’s. I made puppy chow for NYE. That’s addicting too. Glad you’re feeling better! You have a big year this year, becoming grandparents.
Favorite thing to snack on at family xmas is good edibles To wash them down, i usually get a 30 of BL and try to make them last all threwout the evening. Food choice is usually the cheese tray, all the good stuff nobody wants to fill up on before the meal. LOL
Hope yall had a very Merry Christmas and are off to a great New Year! One of my favorite Christmas treats is when my wife makes what we call Christmas Trash - Rice, Wheat and Corn Chex, Peanuts, small pretzels, almonds and cashews. Mix with several spices like Worchestershire, Butter and something else - spread out on a cookie sheet and bake for 45 min on a low heat. Spread out on the counter to cool. Mix up, put it in a large zip lock bag and it's awesome! She cooks this all day one day for me and our 2 grown boys - oh it's addictive! Nutritious AND Delicious!!!!!!
The door lock with the key pad can ice up so bad that the door will not unlock and leave you out in the cold. I was able to get in the back door with my key. I just love winter!
When you get snowed in for a week or two it was amazing what you do to pass time. That was when we had winters 70s and 80s. I learned to knit and crochet .
Homemade mincemeat pie for the men in the family. My killer tollhouse cookies both with and without nuts for the nut impaired. Pimento cheese salad and homemade cheese ball. Oh and smoked oysters. I have to thank my grandfather for that addiction. LOL
Oh, how I enjoy watching and listening to you and Doug! My husband Brian and I are about the same age as both of you, and we can relate to a lot of what you deal with. But this video had me just busting with laughter!😂 The latchook "Hobby Lobby" really got me, and just when I was recovering from that laughing bout, Doug talks about "Brite Lite"! Hilarious!😂😂😂😂 Thank you so much for your channel. My husband and I really look forward to watching your video! My favorite Christmas treat is Reindeer Dropping and my husband's favorite is marshmallow rolled in carmel and then in rice krispies Happy New Year!🎉
Doug how about battleship game or card games like Rumoli you every play that. We played lot of crib also. Favourite cookie shortbread, ginger snaps.. however have to watch sugars now so only a treat once in a while..
Everyone has been pretty sick around the countryside. I have been very fortunate. Everyone loves the fudge, cherry, peach, apple and blueberry pies. The pies are twelve inches by two inches deep. I used to have to cook for crews, ranch/farm. We rarely made cookies and that holds true on both sides of the family.
We saved old bolts because back in my dad's day because we didn't have a pot to pee in (and that had the holes soldered shut) and we didn't have a window to throw the pee out of either. When my dad died I sorted out 6 5 gallon pails worth the bolts. I didn't find a gallon worth of good bolts. You could not pay someone to sort out those bolts and pay their wages. Back in the day our bast most used tools was a tap and die set to clean up the threads on every old rusty soft steel square headed rusty bent up hardware bolts. God bless you all.
Howdy Amy, Dougo, I hope ya'll are doing well, My favorite Christmas baked goodies are butter tarts, the deep dish style butter tarts, the kind that drip out a little of that goodness when you take a bite, Yum 😋 Stay safe, God Bless and watch out for those paper cuts Dougo 😂
Coyotes are a real pain in our butts You don’t ride your horses anymore without carrying a weapon with you. They aren’t scared of you anymore. Some nights it sounds like you’re out west the way they talk to each other. Have a great and blessed Christmas with your family. God Bless You and Your Family 😊
Dont forget the hand held thermal for scanning. In WI I run thermal and night vision. Good part is if you head to Texas its all the same gear for night time pigs. Its a blast.
2026 calendar should have dougo leaning against his truck in a car llot as he spends alot of time looking for a new truck 😂October month November Amy on lawn mower towing leaf sweeper that would be a great 2026 calendar
My late mother used to make, starting at Thanksgiving, peanut butter oatmeal no bake cookies!! Only 5 ingredients and oh my....so good!! Mom is gone now, but I can and do make them!! However, they just are not as good as hers....I can not get the 'Mothers Love' in mine!!
We didn't get to have Christmas either. My huband , sister, sister-in-law and I were all sick and we had not been together. Fevers lasted 4, 5, 9, and my sister 18 days. We all got sick Dec. 21. So Christmas has been cancelled until next year. We do hope to see our son next Saturday. Husband is still coughing. Ohio.. P.s. Don't coyotes eat baby dear? Might want to keep the coyoties.

Doug does have a hobby. He's the main character in your video. 😂😂😂

Happy New Year's from 🎉 southeastern Minnesota ❤

Oh dear! That’s not good! Ours will be in the garage that is heated so it should be okay.
Kolaches are the best for Christmas time or anytime
I had to Google what that was. Looks yummy.
I’d say Dougo’s yard renovation & boat is all the time he has after farming. Once he gets started with something, you know he can’t stop.
When a person gets thinking about all of the these things, perhaps we have more hobbies than we realize.
@ yep. We all saw how the deck project spiraled into the entire yard being refinished. 😂 Doug’s hobby is work.
When you get snowed in for a week or two it was amazing what you do to pass time. That was when we had winters 70s and 80s. I learned to knit and crochet .
That is so true.
Dougo I sold alot of Light Brights , My girlfriend used to collect the Holly Hobbies .From clothes to tiny collectables.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Amy, I think you like trolling Dougo. I would do it too, so easy to do 😂
It’s a possibility…
Who thinks Amy looks guilty of opening that door as soon as Dougo said “you don’t break the seal”? 🤭🤭🤭
I truly was thinking it!
Spritz cookies for Christmas
Dont forget the hand held thermal for scanning. In WI I run thermal and night vision. Good part is if you head to Texas its all the same gear for night time pigs. Its a blast.
I will tell Doug.
@amysblessings I'm going for pigs in Mississippi. I could have bought 3 or 4 steers in the freezer cheeper than buying the needed tools for the hunt.
Sausage balls and pigs in a blanket and anything dipped in white chocolate
I’m first
Love seeing you guys

18 day fever! Wow! No fun at all. And I’ve thought the same thing about coyotes and deer.
