Today, we're checking out two impressive Audi models -- the 2021 Audi RS6 Avant and the 1994 Audi RS2 Avant, which are fast Audi wagons from 25 years apart. I'm going to go over the differences between these two cars, and then I'll drive the RS2 and RS6 Avant to let you know what I think of the driving experience.

Since Germans have started to buy Kia/Hyundai they stopped making cars well because of cost cutting.

Volkswagen: creates the Panamera Turbo. Then replaces the crazy e-diffs with normal Torsen to create a less fun, more snow&mud capable and way cheaper variant, the RS7.
Doug: RS7 gets a higher fun factor than the Panamera.

@@AndiSabin The RS2 is in a way the precursor to the Panamera. Porsche worked with Audi to develop it. Even before VW bought Porsche outright they all worked together for decades.. A literal family affair Peich and Porsche are blood relatives

If I was given the choice to get one of these cars free, I'll definitely go with the RS2. Actually, also if I had to pay for one of those cars. However for the price of the RS2 I guess I'll get something different (though definitely not a modern "era" car, they all are awful, and particularly the RS6).

Exactly why I stopped watching after 10 minutes into the video. Doug loves to directly compare style regardless of generational changes.
For example, when Doug compares body lines. The RS2 body lines were way ahead of any Avant of the time.

I doubt it will look good either. Form following function is often timeless - while committee designed ANGRY and SPORTY looks rarely manage the same. Honestly RS6 looks like a middle aged man's training shoe.

@@mattycee5412 I don't think current day electronics are much of a problem - we are pretty good at those nowdays. But it's a VAG vehicle, anything complex they've attempted is a maintenance nightmare.

It's funny because those are his license plates from his collection. I believe he used them because he took down the 69 Alabama plate from the wall and had to move every plate one spot. Also, I think he doesn't want people to know what his plate on the RS2 is.
Doug is the type of guy to pull his “2” and “6” license plates out of his garage collection to put on the back of an RS2 and an RS6 for a comparison video.

@@wojciechd6765 i think that for most cars 18(compact car) to 20 (bigger sedans/wagons) is just the sweet spot between comfort and looks. Anything more than that is just overkill in most cases.

Just a heads up that the actual first time a Nogaro RS2 and Nogaro RS6 Avant were together was at Audi Wilmington in Delaware back in November. A friend of mine owns both of the cars that were on display during a Cars & Coffee event they hosted. Regardless, it's a pleasure to see these cars side-by-side. Keep up the great work!

Actually the 4.0 V8 "hot turbo" is an original audi development first seen on the audi c7 S6&S7 and with larger turbos to the S8 D4 and with even larger on the c7 RS6. After its original debut with those models in 2012-2013 it started branching out to other VAG products including Porsches.
I was about to comment this lol. The 4.0T is definitely not a Porsche engine. It’s derived from the older 4.2 V8 from the B7 RS4/RS5 and R8 4.2. In fact, the 4.2 V8 gave birth to not only the 4.0T but also the 5.2 V10 in the R8 and the Huracan.
@@trozio1 Exactly the 5.2 V10 is also an audi original engine and not derived from the 5.0 Lamborghini v10 as many say which was only used on the c6 rs6 heavily reworked with two turbos.

Haha I love the black plastic boxy interior in my 95’ Volvo 850! One of my favourite features. Just replaced the after marked stereo with an original I found at the scrapyard - now it’s finally complete. Great video as always!

I have a first-gen fully restored Mustang from early '65, original 289 V8 and all, and I love it for the same reasons Doug loves the RS2. You can really push the car to its limits and not have to worry too much about speed, and the convertible top on it makes it an awesome car to take on back road drives.
I love how the license plate on the RS2 is just 2. And the plate on the RS6 is just 6. Nice little touch.😎😂🧐

First entry is a Hummer H2.
It's modern and pretty cool.
The main places I saw Hummer H2s were in the military and in rap music videos. That's pretty cool in my opinion.
While wildly impractical, I think the H2 has gained some collector clout as it is a strange and somewhat rare vehicle today.
Yeah I find it funny that they sell what Doug called "The most embarrassing vehicle you can drive" on his website for enthusiast cars.

Is it cool? (I like it's less imposing nature of those when stock compared to the WRX of the time, So to me, Yes.) Modern? (2005-2009) So yes.
But It's also not a car I would expect to get much from auction.
It just somehow reminds me of tacky Rap, like ultimate Pimp my Ride tacky.
I can't think of a military use of the H2, except maybe as police interceptors in CSI Miami.
I really never realized how well Audi maintained the proportions. Wow!
