OMG the comments here!! WTF? Why do people have a problem with two singers singing to each other and it being authentic just because one of them is gay/bisexual/whatever. How ridiculous can you get. So when two hetero people do a romantic duet it's authentic even if they're both married & in love with other people? How does who they have sex with in any way shape or form matter to the performance. Stop seeing things in terms of us and them or "normal" & "other". The performance was authentic & beautiful and heartfelt. Her kiss at the end was completely platonic anyway. Any strangeness or awkwardness is the product of your own issues and has nothing to do with either Brandi or Chris. Oh and they both have beautiful voices. This is a treat to experience.
+Gekko Well some people will always have a problem whit themselves, I'm 67 hetero white dude, all my life have had gay friends and I mean REAL friends both male and female and loved them for the persons that they were just as the friends that were not gay some today have gone different paths and sadly others are gone forever, still prejudice can only limit ones fulfilment of the good people that surround us.
Whaaat... it took me nearly 10 years since this great performance was done to discover it? Its in my soul now, damn Chris Isaak and Brandi Carlile when a perfect match one I never would have thought of
It's true - this song is romantic, but it doesn't have to be. I think we can apply these lyrics to anyone we truly love. And they really FELT this song, really showed the emotions of the lyrics - what more can we ask of two brilliant artists?
you have a marvelous voice.I'm very fond of your songs: "the story", "my dying day", "hard way home".Your songs are full of good meanings.I love your duos with your Mom,John Prine and Iris Dement.
Beautiful Brandi is gorgeous in this and their harmony and phrasing are perfect, but those looks she's giving him, LOLZ! I want those puppy dog eyed looks from Brandi! Hey she's cute, sorry don't mean to offend anyone, Brandi is just gorgeous.
Love Me Tender, Ámame dulce, Nunca me dejes ir. Usted ha hecho mi vida completa, Y te amo tanto. Love Me Tender, El amor verdadero yo, Todos mis sueños cumplidos. Para mi querida Te amo, Y siempre lo haré. Love Me Tender, El amor me llevó mucho tiempo, Llévame a tu corazón.
A kiss on the ch3k between friends! Love this song, love the original by Elvis, but Brandi did a great job with Chris! Shout out to Brandi is a hometown girl from Ràvensdale,WA!
It's kinda funny, whenever I sing this. Because when they sing "love me tender, love me true" I on accident sometimes sing "love me tender, love me do" oh thank u beatles :D
I don't feel the kiss was strange at all. There are many types of love, and that kiss felt like friendship and appreciation. I dunno, that's my opinion. :)
@NikWongMusic Thanks so much for your thoughtful response, Nik Wong. I absolutely agree that the roots of love run just as deep between both gay couples and straight--just ask anyone who has ever truly been in love, the responses are usually the same. I think what I meant when I said that comment was the staging in the song felt strange to me. Maybe not so much the song itself but the kiss at the end;
(cont)it was something I would expect more from the theatre, perhaps, than the music industry because the two are not playing characters, they are representing themselves. To me if the producers knew their artists maybe they would have considered a less literal romantic approach and more conceptual. Regardless, I do believe in the cruciality of acceptance and ubiquitous respect in art especially when it comes to the industry. As a queer songwriter and actor, myself, I would want nothing else :)
No more awkward than watching Amy Grant sing You Can Sleep While I Drive to Melissa Etheridge or spending a lifetime watching heterosexual pairs who aren't in a relationship sing love songs to each other. :)
Gorgeous, both of them. Beautiful music...But does anyone else feel the sight awkwardness of Brandi singing "love me tender" to Chris Issac? It's like Ellen Degeneres being cast opposite Leo in Titanic. Yeah, yeah, I know - it's for the sake of the music :P But, still, you have to laugh.

My thoughts exactly.
When and what was this? I want to see the whole show!!!
So what, that kiss was heartfelt, it's not always about sex.
I love her smerk, she's proud of herself, and as well she should be! LOVE her!
I don't feel the kiss was strange at all. There are many types of love, and that kiss felt like friendship and appreciation. I dunno, that's my opinion. :)
Two sexy voices!

Who is the male singer?
Chris Isaak
you can't be serious?! Chris Isaak has been performing and recording and touring since the mid to late 80's. He is still touring today at age 63!
4 people need to get their life straightened

Good, but the original is still best.
