You can tell Sony didn’t wanna miss out on this market of bedroom studio wanna be rappers that can’t afford expensive mics(that’s including myself when I say that😂) they wanted to compete with slate,Townsend, the tlm 103s, I want one now but I already got the Townsend sphere so I guess no need 😢, good video man
I have owned a C12 a Apex 460 modded by Dave Thomas to sound like the c800g and a u87 I rently purchased the Sony c80 and I have to say it holds up and actually sounds brighter more controlled and even through the recordings for such a small much it can handle alot of spl and has that great modern tone I mean is it a c800g no but you can deff make it sound similar and regardless every mic has its own character especially how each ages differently. Great job Sony now I'm using my c80 on all my newer projects stop by my channel and hear what I've got

Ya I've had this mic for a few weeks and it's great. Nice and small. Sounds amazing for even just talking. I do run an EQ through it from my RME interface but without it's amazing too.

Wassup bro, I have a question about a problem i ran into using FL. I recorded and saved/exported my song but when i went to listen to it pieces of the verse or hook would cut out as if a piece were deleted leaving everything else playing during that couple of seconds except those couple of words. Explained best i could, hopefully you can help.
I would go with the c-80! The TLM 102 is an awesome mic, but the high end frequencies in the mic can be too much when mixing. I find the “SSS” sounds are difficult to take out. The Sony has high end too, but not as harsh when mixing. It also has a tone or saturation sound to it that sounds super clean.
I own the c80 and have used a u87 I find this Sony compression sound going on with vocals I know there is no tube inside but there is this dynamic controlling happening compared to my C12 the c80 seems to be more superior in the mix without sibilance even takes eq very very well and I don't use deesing as much as with the C12 or u87 c80 the best and really underpriced but it's great for us in a budget or those looking for a c800g fet alternative
To each of their own! I love both mics, honestly. If I want a straight forward mic without the use of extra plugins, I'd go with the C-80. But if I'm looking to change up a vocal effect and not really sure what kind of tone I'm going for, I'd go with the Slate ML-1. Both mics will get the job done though.

I got a real question I need you to respond too, are you recording everything yourself through FL studio. This is coming from an artist that wants to know if it can be done solely using FL STUDIO. Lmk bro , I heard a few of your songs on TH-cam and they sound good.
I am not too sure what exactly do you mean by its using same materials as c800g ? and how does that has anything to do with it sounding like c800 . you could apply same logic to any condenser mic on planet because they all use mylar brass and gold, how ever they don't have anything in common with c800 ,also c80 capsule is way different then c800 its smaller and new design while c800 is k67 style capsule tuned to higher frequency then Neumann , to my knowledge only reason why it sounds similar is because of sony effort in R&D and years of experience in building microphones .

Most interfaces will give you the same sound, but the newer interfaces today have additional features like compression that you can apply in the pre-recording stage. I'd say you really don't need to upgrade unless you want to have additional options when recording.

It’s apart of FL Studio 21 that ImageLine included, you just update your FL and goto the settings on top, then “Theme” and select which color layout you want.
If you want a heavier low mid off the rip, wa87 will do the job. But with the c80, run it through a good preamp and a eq, you can do so much to get that full body sound. I have both and for a consistent, guaranteed solid raw vocal takes I’d pick the c80 any day. Now the Neumann u87 might be a different conversation I’m not sure

I bought one but I felt it sounded too nasal and thin compared to my wa47jr, I returned it but I just realized I had a high pass filter on the whole time. So I never got to experience how much body it has, I just though it was a nasal mix that’s too bright
@@kayjay4952 for the nasal I will say this. I’ve gotten smoother response from the Sony c-80 than the wa87 r2. Where I don’t have to do the get rid of the devil frequency technique. The c80 will capture the full body in a nice balanced way. But if you want more body than the wa87 will do it. But since you mention the nasal part I think it’s better to have balanced smooth recording and you can add more low end in the mixing 💯
If you want full body go sennheiser mk4. This is full body with a lots of low and mid. A tad bit harder mic to work the eq and plugins to cut the mix though, not as bright per se. I would say geared more towards folk or soul type vibe. But it can be used for modern type vocals with eq as previously mentioned does require more work to add shine and pop though. Hope this helps

My bad- I'm using a 6ft Cable Matters XLR and that's going into an Apollo Twin X audio interface without preamps or any plugins 🙂

He might not answer your question but that is correct. Everything is recorded on fl studio from the vocals to beat, even plugins.
