    FINALLY! someone makes a video on this! car sounds unreal. Sounds like a mix of a countach and a murcielago, would not expect that from a Jag XJS.

    Nice job, I’ve spoken to Ben from simply performance before and he’s really helpful and loves his Jaguars !!

    Hi Julian, how did you get to the rear bottom nut on the LH exhaust manifold? Any advice would be a great help. Thanks in advance.😊😊

    Great video! Really ratchets down the intimidation factor of working on these.

    You should add the European spec indicator lights on the front wings ( fenders😂) plus the early He stripes down the side of the car. Cool video really helpful. I have a set of exhaust manifolds to fit on mine.

    I have 2 jaguar XJS H&E convertibles. You did a great job on yours and you got me pumped up to go to my garage and modify one of my 2 XJS Jags. Again, where did you get those headers and how much HP from those modifications?

    • @JulianGriggs
      @JulianGriggs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure what the HP gains are unfortunately. The general HP gain from headers is 5-10%. I need to get the car on a dyno.

      I will say that the weight difference is worth the buy. The headers weigh a lot less then stock, they obviously will flow a lot more as well. 🍻

      Lol, I don't know if you can. But you can build your own if you have the know how. That's what it looks like he did.

      Made them myself. I used a 3 inch steel elbow and made a plate to bolt up to the throttle body, welded it all together. Using AEM oil less filters.

    So i hav this exact car...bought it as a project. It had an engine fire...spark plug wire, fuel rail. So i hav everything off the top, save the manofolds. I want to remove everything...deep clean the intakes, and upgrade fuel rail and do the smog delete. Headers and maybe a twin turbo set up. Lets link so i can pick ur brain!!

    By any chance do you still have the gutted cats?

    • @JulianGriggs
      @JulianGriggs  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it’s 2.5” all the way back. I plan on down sizing it to 2.0” all the way back. Sounds too much like a tin can with the bigger diameter pipe.

    • @TheRetroBen
      @TheRetroBen ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JulianGriggs I was actually asking if you still had the gutted cats because I have been looking for some for either gutted or bad so I could use the downpipe part for my own car to eliminate the cats on mine, I just don't want to destroy my cats in case I move somewhere else where I would need them. Nice setup by the way, I really like the headers.

    dangerous to crawl under a car supported by a floor jack....the hydralics can fail...use posts or blocks.

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbot" in German....((!!

    Good video, your are a madman when it comes to dismantling. Your like a pitbull on a T-bone..
    I'm assuming you didn't dyno or test any HP specs before and after the pipe installation?
    Did you notice any difference, since for those who just watched it would be important information, whether we would want to waste almost 2000 $ for minute change and certainly not for just different sound.. Thanks

    Good morning and Merry Christmas, sorry to bother you.. whenever you have a chance to answer....we got screwed by VA Spiteri , a jag shop in Australia that makes custom headers.. now we need to find other headers.. we were thinking of simply performance, but concern of the fit and finish... We also have a left hand drive Jag -XJS.. did it clear the steering system?
    I know you have straight pipes, but are these headers too loud? Did you notice any performance improvements?
    Sorry for all the questions, have a great year..... I can also call you......as you know our 86 xjs is now a full restomod..
    Thanks,... Pete

      Sorry to hear about your headers!
      I’ve had no problems with the Simply Performance headers. Fitment and quality is really good. Ben over at Simply Performance made it clear that The headers are made for right hand drive cars but I took the risk and it turns out the headers fit really well on the left hand drive cars! I’d recommend giving him a call with any other questions you may have, he’s a good resource for any and all questions about Jags.
      I would keep the same diameter pipe from the collector all the way back. Any bigger your exhaust will sound like a truck… as you probably heard in the video in the lower revs. Make sure you have enough hangers to support the exhaust so it doesn’t fall off.
      Personally, I don’t mind the straight pipes. It is loud, maybe try adding a resonator to “smooth” out the sound.
      The main reason why I installed the headers was because my cats were clogged… so the before and after was a big difference haha, I’d say the headers are worth it considering what’s available currently and price point. Unfortunately, Not a whole lot of aftermarket V12 Jag stuff out there…
      Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

      @@JulianGriggs Good morning Julian. Thank you for the quick response. Yes you are right, Ben is very friendly and helpful. We bought the 40mm drop springs for the fronts and some parts.. At the time we already ordered the VA Spiteri headers. It's funny we were about to buy the Simply, but the others were tuned and ceramic coated. I'm also surprised you are allowed on the road with that exhaust set-up. Here in our town which is close to toronto, we have a max decibel limit, we would be fined and towed.. You didn't mention if you noticed any performance improvements. I know you didn't do any dyno pulls before and after, but was there any feeling of better breathing or torque?
      Again, sorry to bother you on your christmas and new year holidays. Take care.
      Pete

      I did notice the engine revved up a bit quicker. Also felt the torque was increased in the upper rev range.
