As I now work for the successor of Norman Nevills' company (Canyoneers, Inc., from Mexican Hat Expeditions, both owned for the past 56 years by Gaylord Staveley, one of Norm's boatmen's boatmens, as it were, I am thrilled to see this footage. I have read of Norm doing headstands on logs in the river and such, but did not know there was film footage of at least this one example. Thanks so much for sharing this precious piece of river history.
Thank you for writing. I am so glad you liked it. There are two more excerpts from My Canyonlands on my Channel "Sageland Media" You might enjoy the full film, since you are a river runner. If you are interested you can contact me at sagelandmedia@gmail.com. Kent is one of the few remaining boatmen from that era - and he has quite a tale to tell!
