  • No one expects that they can just grab a scalpel and start cutting someone up and automatically they’ll be an expert surgeon. Yet, many people think if they sit down to meditate, they should be an expert right away. At the first sign of discomfort, wandering mind, or disruptive emotions, they think they can’t meditate and that meditation is not for them. Quite the contrary! All of these are just signs that they need to meditate and are merely beginners.
The truth is, literally every single person can learn to meditate. It’s simply sitting still without distraction, the easiest thing in the world. Often people who “can’t” meditate are able to run marathons, but they have a hard time sitting still. Often, negative emotions and thoughts that haven’t been fully healed bubble to the surface of our consciousness when they first sit for meditation and they take it as a sign that meditation caused the emotions. But, this is what the healing process looks like and is a sign that meditation is needed and working.
In this video, I share common things that come up for new meditators, what they mean, and what they can do about it. If you’ve ever thought meditation isn’t for you, this video is for you.

Thank you Todd. After over 20 years of meditation and 5 years of Qigong this is also my own experience. There are times when you have to trust the process and the practise as the ego will try to convince you this is not working anymore. These are the times you have to just keep going. I was stuck in my meditation for over a year but I just carried on sitting with it then one day the ego gave in and i dropped into a new deeper level of my meditation. So when those times arise know that they will pass if we stay patient and have faith. 🙏😇

Todd thank you! Can shed some light on why after many years of meditating and yoga practice I just don't feel the want to do both of these anymore on a regular basis. They both have benefited me immensely.♥🙏

I remember the first time in meditation when I witnessed how every thought produces a reaction in the physical body! These things you speak of are so true! May we all have peace. 🧡

@@ToddPerelmuter thanks for the answer from you! Perhaps I ask for too much but I wonder if you can tell me or tagging me in some way, or just let me know here where you have time to give my question tools? I perhaps otherwise going to miss it. I just have this platform “with” you. ❤️ Thanks again for your wise and generous videos

Love the wisdom and agree. We actually “knew” all this but sometimes knowledge doesn’t equal strength of will to overcome the monkey mind, especially in these crazy ass times that have been thrust upon us and no one saw coming….
My husband and I love you and listen to every video and subscribe to newsletter. We were talking on our morning walk with the sun about all the evil in the world and wondered: What would be Todd’s last straw as a man of peace & faith, that would make HIM say “No more!” and fight back against all the oppression and lies currently being shoved down people’s throats or worse, beaten into their bodies…😳😢
My mind has always been insanely strong (Aries 🥴), and Mind/Ego always demands 1. Why/How is something happening? 2. What is the solution? We do just about everything to stay healthy, eat organic, exercise, vitamins, sunlight, meditation, creativity, plant medicines like kava to help with stress/anxiety. But, as much as all of these things help, my Mind in meditation is still sometimes furiously seeking a path to peace in the world. HOW in meditation can I/we influence the future to create the harmony and restore truth, freedom, peace, health to humanity overcoming the sick greed that is running all of this? My Mind demands I use my “Divine Power” to create a better reality not just for us, but for people & GAIA. I think the Aries “Go BIG!” mentality can either be great and if strong enough create that positive change, or burn itself out. I still struggle with focus terribly. During meditation I set 15 intentions! 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. How in the world do I pick just “1” intention when there are so many needs personally and globally????

Try meditate till its boring. Welcome to meditation. You just meditated.
Now make life boring. You medidate every second. Nothing is hurrying, Things get done. Just do it nike.
1 more bathroom to clean? sure.. Meditation for 0$.
Life become 1 second and infinit, time become abstract. Everything become easy
(but not burnign alive, then its the opposit of meditaiton. every micro second is endless hell and misery.)
