How to Make a Website in 10 Minutes! | Quick Tutorial for Complete Beginners (Using WordPress)

A domain name is just the address for your website, and hosting is what allows you to rent space on the internet, fill it with all of your text and pictures, and then publish your website.
Hosting is 100% necessary if you want to own your own website. The downside to a free website is that you wouldn't own your domain name (it will probably be something like Yourwebsite.squarepsace.com) and you'd also have lots of limitations on customizing your site and the ability to monetize it.
That's why we will be getting our own hosting plan with HostGator so that you will own 100% of your website.
Step #2 Install WordPress
WordPress is a free online software that you can use to customize your website. It's the world's most popular website builder, powering over 30% of all websites on the internet today.
Step #3 Add a Theme
We will be using the Ocean WP Theme in this tutorial.
Step #4 Install Plugins
-Elementor Page Builder
-Ocean Extra
Step #5 Customize Your Website.
Customizing your website is simple with Elementor.
1) Just create a new page, click on the "edit with Elementor" button.
2) Click on the folder icon to insert a template.
3) Replace the images and text with your own!
This way you have a great starting point and then you can simply replace the images and text with your own!
Don't forget to publish your website by clicking on the button at the top of your dashboard.
And there you have it, you've made your very own website! Congratulations!

When using host gator does the gator symbol appear on the URL bar like in the beginning of the video or is that customizable?
From 7.23 mine looked different. I could only see half of the logo and couldn’t drag down to view the rest of the page as you did. Is this because I’m on iPad?

I have a question. I've seen people using Wordpress and just coding sites with HTML , CSS and JS (also PHP for back end). And I don't know if it's "professional" to use Wordpress to make websites. So the main question i'm after is: Do professional developers use Wordpress to make sites (in jobs for example) or is it more professional to use HTML, CSS and JS?
It depends where you work, but 90% of webdevelopers create own html js and css + a framework for example react. I did a single page website using only html css and javascript

@@hussainnhussain4906 search for validators, try to build a website like mine and validate it. It will tell you what did you do wrong. Keep on building projects, its the best way to learn :)
Depends on who you consider as a professional developer, freelance developers who make websites for small businesses mostly use programs like Wordpress but frontend developers who work for large companies hand code because they have specific tasks that need to be done in a specific way. Hand coding takes more time and it's more difficult but you can make almost anything as long as you know how to.
This comments 2 months old, so I would assume you have found your answer by now. However, if you didn't I am a Principal Software Engineer (Pretty much the highest you go in the career as a dev before you move into executive positions or take another path into management). Personally, because of my experience, I would not consider Wordpress "professional" but that does not mean you should not use it. In the world of programming, you use what fits your needs.
Reasons why you want to use Wordpress:
- You need something easy and cheap to get started (I mean what's cheaper than free, besides the hosting)
- You just need a landing page for a business
Lastly, I might suggest it for starting out in e-commerce as well or even mid-level business using e-commerce but I feel like if you have the money a custom solution fits best for these kinds of sites.
For the reasons above I consider Wordpress to be good enough for anyone.
Reasons to NOT use Wordpress:
- Building Software - You really should stay away from restrictions like WordPress when building your own software so everything in your control, if you "NEED" wordpress you shouldn't be creating software.
- Large scale business (lots of traffic) - You could probably do this with WordPress but again -- restrictions, Full control is nothing but opportunity for the business.
- Building games within the site - Like the rest of these -- restrictions for having to run Wordpress around the app.
Basically, if your page has more functionality then contacting you, reading info about your business, and buying something through the site (which again if you have the money I still think you should spend it on a custom solution). Then you shouldn't use Wordpress and I would consider it very "unprofessional".

hi im having issues with launching elemntor. im at 7:50 in the video but when i click "INSTALL" it has me create an account with "template library" but then wehn i go back and hit instal it doesn't do anything. i cant move forward
My hosting was canceled last June (2019)... I am looking to make updates to the webpage as needed myself. If I have a domain name, can I use it with host-gator (for hosting)? or do I need to transfer the domain name to host gator first? I thank everyone for any suggestions. Never used wordpress but I have been in web dev for a few years...Think it might be time even though it would be just another set of skills cause this wont work for the type of stuff I wanna do but it will definitely work for some quick sites and extra money + skills

hi there brother, first and foremost I made a website following everything and using the theme you used here, cheers to a cool individual, on the other hand I installed wptouch to make it mobile responsive but all I see is codes (it says fatal error up top), does this mean I need wptouch pro? I don't have a problem with installing it just trying to make sure this is what I need to make it work as I been trying to make it mobile responsive 7 hrs researching and moving things around but no luck yet, thanks in advance.
