@@enostheforthewin6191 Well it was even more so back in the day. On Pad Chennington's channel there's an interview with George (Esprit) and he talks about how this was one of the first vaporwave releases that didn't rely too heavily on the samples. (edit: typo)
This is like the ideal of videogame music from that era. It fits the part, and feels like a track you forgot from that game you played as a kid. You can't remember the name of the game but the tune plays in your head all the time. It's too good to be true. How does no one else remember this game's soundtrack?
This album recently passed the age of 10 years old and it no longer brings the nostalgia of my early childhood but rather the period when it was released. F*ck you esprit. Its too good. It still holds up.
This is so fantastic! Seriously why isn't this album regarded as highly as Floral Shoppe!? Man, two thumbs up for Esprit. This album was a journey through a place I could only wish existed. Thanks for the upload! :]
By real fans, it will be regarded as batter, because it just is Love Floral Shoppe, but this is a true work of art, and he took the genre to a new level with this
These tracks are really good. Some are rather short. Though they're all pretty solid. I really liked the second half of the album a lot. Though, the first two tracks are super clean. In all, I think this is a fabulous effort and worthy of a listen.
Iwillbe.wav makes you feel like your in the space version of bikini bottom and everyone is floating high on seaweed... This vaporwave album is probably the best of all time with other legendary ones
Remembered being at the internet at a young age and was introduced by vaporwave when it was still a niche genre back when aesthetic styles weren’t a trend yet. It’s still a fond memory I cherish close to till this day.
Listened to this entire album while driving across the state of Pennsylvania a few summers back. Beautiful drive through all of the hills and valleys - takes me back to that
Weed and vaporwave go together a bit too well haha. I remember when I first smoked to Macintosh Plus...this is officially my favorite genre of music to get stoned too :) but it's enjoyable just as good sober too :D
+Evolutionizer i agree with you 100% especially when making a record and then listening to it when im stoned makes it a completely different experience. you should check out my vapor ive got some pretty good ambient and whatever else this brain of mine formulates: capsicola.bandcamp.com/ soundcloud.com/capsicola/tracks
I think George, despite very clear 90’s influences and reference points being its foundation, really touched upon a pretty timeless sound. I feel elements of his whole discography under all his aliases have that “freshness” quality. But this one is definitely one I’d rank among his most ageless, it’s a fine, fine wine.
I found this thru a podcast called Night Clerk Radio, i like it. It's minimalist without sounding same-y throughout the album, which is hard to do, I guess that's on account of all the original soundwork.
"Is it possible that the resurgence of nostalgia pandering is supporting an unhealthy obsession to escape the present? Music theorists surmise that with the introduction of vaporwave, this is a distinct possibility."
@@configured4357 , just look around. Overconsumptionist practices are ruining resources, while greater adversities loom on the horizon. The present is beautiful, and horrifying.

Back in the days when my big brother and my cousin would save up their change to rent a Sega Saturn for the weekend, I'd be pretty near jumping up and down when I would see them coming down the hill to my aunties place with that clunky box in their hands. Good times! :)
george himself seems to not like this album too much, but i think its one of the most genre-defining works in vaporwave. after virtua.zip was released, a lot of artists began moving away from a plunderphonic production and began making songs consisting of mostly original samples and tunes. all of the songs still have that iconic "vaporwave" soul and nostalgic feeling for that reason. i think george absolutely nailed what he was going for on this album. what george has continuously done for vaporwave and in his evolution/direction as an artist, id argue, wouldn't have been so profound without this collection of tracks MONUMENTAL!!!

+ImpendingRiot83 yeah. i just wanted some producers that werent undermining the genre and just making some random shit that were also well known as serious producers
FreemanzzFilms Yeah, his work does have a pretty strong appeal even to newbies to Vaporwave since he kinda keeps one foot in that and the other one in some other genres sometimes.
Even though this music is sorta supposed to evoke 80s/90s nostalgia (I personally) am feeling nostalgia for 2014, when this came out. I was in 6th grade, simpler happier more carefree times when i was truely enjoying life. I would trade 2022 in for 2014 anyday

I see D.D.S. as being "at the top" idk, theres at least a dozen top notch vaporwave albums I can think of. Apples to oranges.
Absolutely agree. This is good vaporwave, nowadays everyone relies too heavily on samples.

Time goes sooo fast
Why did you have to remind me of how long ago 2014 was
that means is getting better
this is me going from teen to kind of a real adult
you aren't going to believe how old it is now
still crazy to think he really ended up 'vaporising' and finishing the album in one day and the shit isnt sloppy in the slightest
Lol yeah I thought I remember George saying that, also the project was made kind of as a joke. So ironic
in love
Creating your own tunes and then sampling them yourself. George Clanton you absolute madman.
lmao i didn't know this was clanton, and i 100% thought "george clanton" was a play on george clinton, like "urethra franklin"
I drove through my hometown and played espirit.wav. Right as I passed my childhood home it said, "Say Goodbye"

My favorite along with Maitro - Snake Way (The Rippingtons - Tourist in Paradise)
