Oil as needed
1 large onion chopped
Garbanzo beans 2 cans or 3 cups
Tomatoes 2-3 chopped
Ginger Garlic paste 2 tbsp

Beef or chicken stock (optional)
Mint leaves for garnish
Tarka Ingredients
Whole red chili 3-4
Cumin seeds 2 tsp
Coriander seeds 2 tsp
Black pepper whole 1 tsp
Cinnamon sticks 1 crushed
Black cardamom 2 tsp
Cloves 2 tsp
Bay leaves 1-2
Spice Powder
Red chili powder 1 tsp
Red chili flakes 1 tsp
Turmeric 1 tsp
Cumin powder 2 tsp
Coriander powder 2 tsp
Salt as needed
BAIGAN ALOO SABZI RECIPE

Ingredients for Sabzi
Eggplants 7-8 medium or 10 small
Onion 1 large chopped
Potatoes 2 large cubed
Roasted garlic chopped 4-5
Tomatoes 2-3 medium chopped
Green chilies 1 chopped for garnish
Cilantro for garnish
Lemon juice from 1/2 lemon
Tarka ingredients
Oil as needed
Curry leaves 6-7
Kolanji 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 2 tsp
Coriander seeds 2 tsp
Ajwain 1 tsp
Whole red chili 2-3
Powder Spices
Red chili powder 1 tsp
Red chili flakes 1 tsp
Paprika powder or Kashmiri powder 2 tsp
Salt as needed
Turmeric 1 tsp
Cumin powder 2 tsp
LOKI KEBAB RECIPE

Ingredients for kebabs
Loki 4-5 chopped and remove seeds
Chana Daal 1 cup soaked and washed
Onions chopped 1/2 cup
Green chilies 1 chopped
Cilantro chopped 1/2 cup
Mint leaves chopped 1.2 cup
Besan 4 tbsp
Breadcrumbs 1/2 cup
Spices Ingredients
Red chili powder 1 tsp
Red chili flakes 1 tsp
Turmeric 1 tsp
Cumin powder 1 tsp
Roasted and crushed cumin seeds 2 tsp
Salt as needed
SHALJAM GHOST RECIPE
---------------
Ingredients for Salan
Onions 1 large chopped
Oil as needed
Cumin seeds 2 tsp
Coriander seeds 2 tsp
Whole red chili 3-4
Black pepper whole 2 tsp
Cloves 2 tsp
Black cardamom 2 tsp
Cinnamon sticks 1 crushed
Bay leaves 1-2

Beef bones with meat 3-4 pounds

Mon daal 1 cup soaked and washed
Masoor daal 1 cup soaked and washed
Onions chopped 1/2 cup
Turmeric 1 tsp
Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
Ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
For tarka
Onions 1 medium chopped
Curry leaves 5-6
Garlic chopped 2 tbsp
Ginger 1 tsp chopped (optional)
Green chilies 1 chopped
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
CHICKEN ALOO CURRY RECIPE
Ingredients for salan
Chicken leg quarters 4 pounds
Potatoes 2 cubed
Onions blended 2 large
Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp each
Yogurt 1/2 cup
Tomatoes 3-4 blended
Oil as needed
Red chili powder 1 tsp
Paprika powder 1 tbsp
Red chili flakes 1 tsp
Turmeric 1 tsp
Salt as needed
Cumin powder 2 tsp
Coriander powder 2 tsp
Garam masala 2 tsp
Nutmeg mace powder 1 tsp
Cilantro for garnish
Mint leaves for garnish
Green chilies 1-2 chopped

My mother was very strict. She never taught me these things but I was expected to catch up and learn about these on my own. Now as a wife and mother of 2 kids, I am overwhelmed by fear of how to manage cooking. Thank you for being kind! Your voice is like a kind mother teaching me gently how to handle these responsibilities. It is a sort of therapy for me and healing my inner soul ❤ May Allah give you highest levels of Jannah. ❤
OMG, first time I read someone from Pakistan with the same experience as myself! In addition my mum gave all sorts of fears to me about wasting food and other phobias about kitchen stuff so I really had to overcome a lot but mashallah Allah always equips us to more than compensate and to benefit in fact from whatever challenges He presents us with. So I would say, surprisingly enough not knowing how to cook Pakistani food freed me to experiment and after so many years my teenaged kids actually love strange things like homemade seed sourdough bread and broccoli!! Alhamdolillah.. don’t lose heart. You will not only survive but thrive inshallah. Fee amanallah 🌸
The food you're freezing and feeding your kids is all homemade and healthy. At least you aren't feeding them junk or fastfood. You're creative, thoughtful and hardworking. Do not worry too much about negative comments. Som people don't understand the hectic lifecof a homemaker abroad.

I've been looking for a Desi kind of meal prep video for so long! Everything I find is either Non-desi people trying to make "indian inspired" food with curry masala in smaller potions, or foods from different cultures. Practical recipes. Anyone can follow this and make life easy instead of being in the kitchen everyday thinking what to cook today. Plus this is genius idea that you anywhere whenever you want rather thinking what the family will eat in your absence. ❤

My mum is also a budget friendly person. She cooks amazing dishes with simple ingredients, less oil & few utensils.
Thus, she taught me the same.
Additionally, I did a little trial and error & could know a little more about budgeting of food, electricity, time, money.
*Suggestions for you to save more:-
-Cook dal, rice, chicken/mutton, pulao, biryani - all in pressure cooker
(This saves time, oil, gas/ electricity, energy)
-While cooking Mutton, put oil, raw chicken, tomato, salt, all spices together in cooker. Close the lid. 5 whistle in high flame, 3-4 whistle in low flame. Turn off flame. After release of pressure, add water & salt if required, bring to a boil. And its done.
-Store your food in deep fridge for a week.
Otherwise the food loses its nutrients and taste as well.
-Cut veggies, put in separate zip lock bags for the week & store in deep fridge.
-Basic masalas, fruits, veggies are all one need for cooking & keeping fit and healthy. No need to buy hyped stuffs.
-For Energy, Daily consumption of soaked Dates in odd number or 21 soaked Raisins are enough.
***-Recite Bismillah and Durood Shareef while cooking. It enhances taste of food, instills barakah in them, doesn't make us feel tired, gives energy, etc.

Love your video! Superb. I am also big on food prepping as I homeschooled my kids in Pakistan with no staff to help for 20 years. I have an important health tip: if you cut onions a few days before cooking, even if they are stored in fridge/freezer in sealed boxes, they absorb all the surrounding bacteria so it’s not good for the stomach. If I am making a big batch of food to cook and THEN freeze, I use a big blender with appropriate blade to chop up a lot of onions (and other veggies) in one go. When I need to chop up small quantities many times during the week like for omelettes for breakfast or salads, I use a small hand-hand held electric chopper.

Very useful practical tips. I think in todays world, esp for those of us living overseas, some level of prep / pre-cooking is necessary for the sake of balance.
On a side note, I always seem to have trouble freezing anything in glass containers.. they end up cracking. I dont know what im doing wrong 😢

Make sure you are using freezer safe containers! And don’t overfill them always leave 2 inch head space.
When you pour hot food inside leave it on the countertop to cool down a bit then freeze it and when take it out don’t put directly on heat or hot water👍🏻

Cooking multiple things also give you variety and will lessen the chances of ordering outside food. my husband likes meat and related dishes, but I like vegetables and daal more. If I cook all 3 dishes daal, sabzi, meat, and a rice dish too then whole week is going to be tension free. I will try this inshAllah

Thank you 😊 I don’t freeze rice now just eat the same day. Salan goes in the freezer and one portion of daal in the freezer one in the fridge. We start eating the daal first

Tip: There's is a device called salinity meter you can test how much salt is in the food. Children in 1st grade are too young so, they should only eat 0.6-0.7 .
