That Billy Murray was great as Johnny Allen a proper gangster, he always plays those sort of characters like in Essex boys and rise of the foot soldier and performance 1970 with Mick Jagger and James Fox
Johnny Allen was nothing more than a rancid, old, sadistic, heartless bully. What a horrible, horrific, cruel thing to do, especially to a woman! He clearly got a sad kick out of hurting and torturing people, and out of listening to them suffer and beg for mercy. How would he like it if someone did this to him. 😡😠
I think Peggy was intimidating Johnny over concealing evidence of Sam’s innocence, which is why I think that’s the reason why he trapped her fingers in the door. It should be repeated on the drama channel next week
She was asking for it Johnny was a very dangerous man and Peggy kept getting in his face annoying him. Same with Dennis and Andy they were great characters but Johnny was a proper old school gangster that would easily kill anyone that got in his way.
I like the way his nasty streak was gradually revealed over months. Yes, early on he killed Andy Hunter, but he was a nasty piece of work who wasn't going to be missed.
@@tomhiggins6542 yeah Johnny was clearly trying to put his gangster past behind him. Johnny was a great character but I think the way they portrayed him with regards to his relationship with the rest of the square residents was kinda unrealistic - like who is really realistically going to go out of their way to mess with a gangster as powerful, feared and well connected as Johnny? Also let’s be honest, the fact they portrayed him getting bullied by Phil and Grant was bs aswell - someone of Johnny’s stature would’ve had no real problem having 2 low down criminals like the Mitchell bros sorted out.
Go on Johnny its about time someone stood upto her and the Mitchell's for me it was all about peggy and phill they needed a match and he was a match so was den
Not quite. Johnny lost in the end, Den and Dan Sullivan didn't. In fact Den didn't only get rid of Phil, he took over the Square once he left and tormented Sam, Minty and Billy.
How did Johnny loose ? He gave himself up for his daughter as a father should put his child first so it wasn't phill who beat him it was his loyalty to his daughter
I remember finding this scene hilarious. BTW I always thought that Peggy Mitchell, while I wouldn’t deny that she’s iconic, was a vastly overrated character. To be honest I never thought that Barbara Windsor was even that strong an actress.
The music really fit this scene.
1-2-3-4-5 once I caught Barbara Windsor’s fingers alive
I love the title of this video!

Grant brothers:"What are having for dinner mum"
Peggy;"Er, fish fingers"😢
I liked the intense scary music through it.
I wonder why ruby didn't come out when Peggy was screaming in pain
She was too busy flicking her bean
@chris7921😮😮😂😂
He was a nasty piece of work.
This is why you never put your fingers on the side of the front door
Well done Johnny
Imagine if Phil or Grant Returned this point ik they did return not long after but it would have been funny to see them return here
One of the only men Peggy feared I remember when this aired
Eeeeerrrrrrrrr theres a letterbox peggy ??????.......??????

Tbf his nasty streak was due to residents constantly provoking him for no real reason

@@gravy180rs it wasn't just Grant & Phil, it was pretty everyone on the show.
@@gravy180rs Very true, the way Dennis Rickman used to try and bully him was unrealistic
People just would not leave Johnny alone so Johnny had to get revenge.
