Alexander Richmond that’s cool so maybe I was right with the year when it would lull you to sleep.. lol unless you meant now, but anyway keep listening they’re such a good band
Rarely in your life a band will come to you at the perfect time of change or challenge you are facing, it's almost like a new companion to bring you through the tough times and make new good memories. I'm in the middle of moving away from my hometown of 25 years. I grew up here, got depressed, felt trapped, felt like the world had nothing to offer me any more. I spent two weeks in a new state and met so many nice people and realized I had been stuck in a rut for too long. It's givin me new hope in life and it's awesome to have some great new to me music for the new me to enjoy.
I listened to this song while landing in Baltimore after a long flight. It was nighttime and I got to look at the neon lights while it played. The nostalgia mixed with the beautiful city was a feeling I can’t describe. So bittersweet.
Dr Dog was one of those bands that would always come on Spotify playlist for me. I HATED it. Then one day, I found one song I liked by them: Where'd All The Time Go. It snowballed from there to me finding more and more songs that I loved by them. Now they literally never off my recently played section on Spotify. I LOVE THIS BAND.
@sethbaumgardner Dr. Dog has worn sunglasses and hats on stage for 10 years.. initially said to be to overcome stage fright or awful lighting they played in at clubs, etc. and many bands do that now.. not a fashion statement.
7years on and this still reminds me of watching my dad die in a hospital room. I love the song and it's up beat feeling but can hear hidden meanings too
In my humble opinion, this song is fucking brilliant. I will pick up my guitar and do my best to learn it, then play it, then maybe one day, perform it for my friends, and hopefully get them to do some backup vocals, cause dammit, I can't do it all by myself. Thanks Dr. Dog for a truly wonderful, deep , and meaningful song.
My God, first time hearing this song and it gave me chills, and I got a little misty-eyed. Those harmonies are ridiculous. Dr. Dog is a band I've been trying to get into recently, and this song really helped that along.
I listen to this track and watch the video at least once a week. It always cheers me up. Had the pleasure to see Dr Dog in the UK supporting the Magic numbers years ago. Loved the ever since
The rain is falling it's after dark The streets are swimming with the sharks It's the right night for the wrong company And there ain't nothing 'round here to look at Move along move along The neon lights on Baltimore Every shadow's getting famous In some backyard in some plastic chair Hoping these cigarettes will save us Here we go again (uuuuh) Here we go again (uuuuh) You got rings in your ears And you got kicked around and made up Looking high looking low Where did all the shadow people go? Where did all the shadow people go? I wanna know (Whoa!) Where the shadow people go I stole a bike from the 2nd Mile Saw a band play in the basement I crossed the path of a friend of mine And I know what that look upon her face meant Something's gone from her eye Something's gone wrong You could be a woman or you could be a man Wear the glove on the other hand Or you could be twisted Or you could be insane Pushing the envelope against the grain Just playing along (uuuuuuh) Just playing along (uuuuuh) And I got something on my mind And I got voices on the other line Saying hi saying hello Where did all the shadow people go? Where did all the shadow people go? I wanna know where the shadow people go Where the shadow people go (Where did all the shadow people go?) Where the shadow people go (Where did all the shadow people go?)
The fact that these guys are opening for a band like lumineers shows just how cruelly perverse the music industry is. The bass player has more talent in his fedora than Lumineers have in their entire band.
@@idontknowanymore3074 I wouldn't say they're terrible, but they're incredibly ordinary and forgetable. It's 2010s music 101 - take a boring band, ad synchronised claps every 2nd bar, elongate every single vowel, and give the band a 1920s wardrobe.
I just heard this song for the first time the other day driving home from work. Had no idea who Dr Dog was. Where have I been? The song is so absolutely beautiful. And the video oh my gosh the video. I used to skate all the time at a skating rink in Anderson, South Carolina and the memories that brings back... Wow. What a perfect, gorgeous video.
@cmbme That is so great/nice to hear. They all made NJ proud..I would not expect any less from Dr. Dog, They are great guys. I was very impressed by this video. We were even more happy to find out that it was a REAL NJ skating center. This song went so perfectly for skating. The guy who did this video is genius!!
Saw these guys in Brooklyn last night, at the Williamsburg Waterfront.. they opened for Bright Eyes. What a great concert! had an awesome view of the Manhattan skyline directly behind us..as well as an awesome sunset ha. These guys are a very good band. What a great time!!
That's been my experience exactly. It literally took a couple years. I just saw them in concert and that did it. Perhaps my favorite band now. That's admittedly a lot time in invest in a band. I imagine that they will be huge in twenty years if they're still together.
It's like a party. You're with only one friend but you feel like everyone is there. You can feel them moving around and see their shadows on the wall. You can hear them have conversations but they are not there.
This is the most brilliant and versatile band to come along in many years. They cover so much stylistic ground, anyone making a judgment of them based on one song is insane. As if the Beatles were all Yellow Submarine! Toby and Scott have very different vocal styles, I think very complimentary, like Lennon and McCartney. Put all their discs on your player and just enjoy it all. I really haven't heard them do anything that wasn't worthy on any disc.
I was used to rrepeatedely listen to Old BH, back in 2011 n onwards, until I lost the memory of the device. That was the only song I knew. Priceless btw. This 1 too is great. Point is that when first I heard naming Baltimore I said 2 mysf, This explains it all.. but the next thought was, No Man, this condition is actually global, this is exactly what they meant 4 us.. & I now can't stand it! Many many hugs. Big smiles, from Italy.
i went to our local open mic last night and this is one of the songs that were performed and I fell in love with this song. the bass player gave it a little more that I didn't hear in this video
Only just discovered this guy, his strangled voice is appealing but the poetry is the real excellence I'd say: "every shadow's getting famous" We all know that feeling, yes?
Always reminded me of back in the day, at night you were surrounded by people and friends. You could almost feel the night breath. I'd plant my face against the car window, look out amongst Minneapolis, higher than a kite and think what a beautiful world. Then daylight would come and it'd all disappear. Time has past and it lives now only in my memories.

The Current is a MN treasure
This song makes me re-experience my childhood for a brief time - this masterpiece means a lot to me.
The way this song makes me feel at night makes me wish I could escape the trappings of human memory
