This silly mistake further justifies his proved 'on track' record, over the last 5 seasons, that he is a serious danger to all drivers 'on track' as he continues to drive way beyond his capabilities.
On Channel 4, James Vowles said that Logan was a total gentleman about the situation, and he understood the decision. He even sat in on the pre-race meeting and gave every hint he had regarding his car and how it is best handled (the two may seem identical but they'll always have differences). Sainz never seemed to really be rated by RB and unfortunately that assessment seems to have followed him despite excellent performances at Mclaren and Ferrari. I hope he finds a good drive for next year.
Hamilton wasn't alone starting with softs; so did Danny Ric. And mechanical issues sometimes just happen; crapping all over the RedBull team seems a bit heavy handed here.
@@BehindTheDriveOfficial That would be logical and smart but we're talking Ferrari here. I can see getting Lewis just to sabotage Mercedes though. That would be a very Italian thing to do. The Palio di Siena, a 4 centuries old F1 style horse race (from Siena, Italy), is known for these kind of tricks with jockeys (bribes and other tricks aren't even frowned upon). But they should double down on the Italian-style and tell Sainz they'll stay with him. They wouldn't want to see him go to Red Bull or Mercedes with vengeance on his mind or wanting to prove something.
sainz is going to secure his own future from now on. He knows he can win and will never back down from leclerc. Even if the team orders him not to fight or swap positions, i dont think he will do that
Whats up with Melbourne being so tough? It's a fairly smooth and simple track. On a slippery high-speed track with no runoffs, can't really blame the drivers for hitting a wall.
I agree with u. seeing Lewis was underperformed against George and saw Carolos has brilliant week, this is the point where Frank Basseur regret for not having Sainz in 2025. However, this is the time for Carlos to move to Red Bull or Aston Martin. There is a likelihood that Max will leave Red Bull, thus this is the time for them to have Carlos reunite with Red Bull. Carlos is a mature driver compared to Checo, and he got his alpha dominance also against Lando and Charles. For Aston Martin, perhaps they will consider Carlos as their number 1 driver with Tuki or Gasly as Aston Martin second driver. Fernando may go to Mercedes, bit having Carlos and Yuki or Gasly will be great for Aston
@@RoysIdea Exactly!! What if he had to save fuel, for example, or had to cool down overheated brakes. Would he not get off the throttle a bit sooner? Is that also illegal now? They were not even close to making contact..
I think Carlos will be going to go to Sauber next year in preparation for Audi, he will have one year to get the whole Sauber-Audi garage behind him. I think he will take up their non-German driver slot.
You say putting Logan on the sideline is the right decision, but I just feel this highlights their ongoing mistake: If Vowles really feels he cannot trust Logan to get the most out of the car it means he erred big time by retaining him as a driver. Willams deserves a red box for their recruitment, readiness, and the Albon crash.
it wasnt sainz who stopped verstappen, it was a stuck break.. verstappen had the brake problem FROM the start....so driving with an handbreak on makes you 1: slower 2: slide to corners....he didnt make a mistake, the car was snapping..nothing MV could do.
It's a bit worrying - but the grid penalty didn't help. Hopefully he gets back to second at least for his sake, if not the door might be open for Sainz
It's a pity that F1 management decided to unfairly penalize Checo, after Qualifying, as all F1 fans were denied a thrilling contest between Checo & both Ferrari's. But ...... as Max says, 'it is what it is and we can't change it, so lets move on.'
Leclerc has better media image (deserved?) and someone had to go when F1's darling was signed up. So Sainz is out. Whoever hires him will get a top driver that has always delivered. Sainz is still getting better. Hopefully, he will reach his peak this season and delight the fans with a long-awaited, proper challenge to Verstappen.
One thing Ferrari doesn't have is a drivers problem, also Giovinazzi and Bearman as reserves would be a nice couple for many teams on the grid. Is loosing Carlos an enormous pity? Yes, indeed: great & fast driver with a team dedicated mentality with also a strategic mind and capable of developing the car guiding the engineers, huge loss. But also Hamilton is an incredible add on to the team, the only incognita will be the relationship with Charles, but I believe that Lewis is in a very Zen but focused phase of his career. Carlos deserves a top team seat, and I believe he'll just have to choose the best option he feels fits him.
When it comes to the Ferrari decision it depends on how you define “mistake.” Man is more influenced by money and hubris than common sense, and apparently Ferrari’s stock prices have spiked since the Hamilton announcement was made, so there you have it. If I had any say in the matter, I’d leave Ferrari F1 status quo as I believe the Ferrari / Sainz relationship has been mutually beneficial.
Max's right rear brake 'lock up' is a freak failure that could happen to any F1 car............. just like LH's car failure could happen to any F1 car ............. so ........ both DNF's should not be blamed on the teams or the drivers. As Max said, 'Sh-t" happens and we can't change it, so let's move on'.
Ferrari made the biggest mistake ever - Carlos is the best Ferrari driver! he should really be asked to stay and receive a public apology from the owners!!
What all F1 fans want to know is what went wrong with Checo's car, after he breezed past both Mercedes drivers, half way through the race, to make him suddenly lose his incredible pace!!!

I don't think "the dominance of Verstappen ended". It's likely just on pause for a single race.
What a mistake, Louis is well past his best before 6 Sianz has many good years ahead
Let's fucking go Carlos
Sainz never seemed to really be rated by RB and unfortunately that assessment seems to have followed him despite excellent performances at Mclaren and Ferrari. I hope he finds a good drive for next year.
Hamilton wasn't alone starting with softs; so did Danny Ric. And mechanical issues sometimes just happen; crapping all over the RedBull team seems a bit heavy handed here.
Like Sainz is going to sacrifice much for the team now.
As long as he qualifies ahead and is ahead in the races they will look after him!
Even if the team orders him not to fight or swap positions, i dont think he will do that
Ferrari have made a mistake by letting sainz go
Whats up with Melbourne being so tough?
Ricciardo also started on softs, not just Hamilton. They both regretted it very quickly 💀💀💀.
Great stuff 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Alonso got demoted to P8
Weirdest penalty, I can remember, absolutely ridiculous...
@@F1pidis It's always Nando getting those strange penalties.
So what can you do while defending
I commented that Verstappen didn't make any mistakes!
@@BehindTheDriveOfficial 1 minute 18....
@@DAVE_JM The next line states that Verstappen may have been facing issues already...
I wonder why max just said YOLO and stayed out untill his brakes exploded
He just wanted to be sure before logging into iRacing
Saved himself a trip the the physician to check if everything is ok
Things we learned Perez in fastest car on p5
I would give a red box to Williams. Not scoring points when Haas got double points is terrible.
Alonso update: 20 second and 3 point penalty
He was not fuming. 'Shit happens'. The idiot was about the instruction to drive to the pit with the explosion risk of the tire
"No strong drivers to replace Sargent in 2024"...Drugovic? Admittedly Antonelli is tied up already but surely there must be other contenders...
I was so worried they were gonna tell Carlos to let Charles through, since that’s the only way Ferrari will ever see Charles beat him to a win 🤣
I'm guessing we'l see Sainz @ Mercedes next year.
Carlos will make a great 2nd driver to Daniel in Red Bull….🔥
1:16 Or, that they resigned the wrong driver. Imagine a Hamilton/Sainz lineup next year given what we’ve seen over the last year or so.
Excellent points, Bearman resolves the long term issue!
is purple good or bad?
Purple is the best!
Saintz will be in a red bull if perez doesn't get 2nd place wrapped up in points.
Sainz to Red Bull
Sainz lead driver for Audi F1. I think you'll finf Sainz Senior has a working relationship with Audi.
Red Bull
That would be the best place for him to go!
Please let him come to rb…. 🎉
Ferrari is coming strong
Ferrari made the biggest mistake ever - Carlos is the best Ferrari driver! he should really be asked to stay and receive a public apology from the owners!!
With RedBull struggling this much at Melbourne, i will not be surprised if they lost 3 more GPs this year...
Monaco and Singapore?
What all F1 fans want to know is what went wrong with Checo's car, after he breezed past both Mercedes drivers, half way through the race, to make him suddenly lose his incredible pace!!!
There were nothing thrilling. Basically no fighting within top 4. Easy win for Sainz.
Without Verstappen Red Bull is only the 3rd fastest car
It was definitely a mistake to let go of Sainz after 2024
Carlos Sainz scored The last 2 Non-Red Bull Victories
He has, it's been huge for Sainz, great advert for hi services! Thanks for watching!
If Logan beats Alex next race, that would be some goat shi* 😂
This is true, lots to prove in Japan!
No Red Box for Perez?
He was close to getting a red box, he seemed nowhere yesterday!
Great script writing... thanks Andy!
It was early.. I did repeat a few words...!
