19:09 funny story about this, my late Father(lifelong otr driver) once went through a Walgreens drive thru on a bicycle(he was visiting home) and the worker told him that he couldn't pick up his meds in a bicycle because it was "too dangerous because it was too small of a vehicle" or something along those lines so he bikes home and jumps in the semi amd shows back up at the drive thru and asks the worker if the semi was too small XD
Hays Kansas did that because there was a 4lame street with frontage roads on both sides so they made it a bit easier to get in and on and to cut down some traffic lights. There already is a truck bypass for hays on the west side of town there is an i70 exit and it curves around to the south end.
Yes that is very accurate representation of Hays Kansas. Missing some buildings but roads are very accurate. Those round abouts are a pain in the butt driving a 18 wheeler at times.
Yes I enjoy watching the game more when the person knows what their doing and can give little fun facts that they learned in real life experiences not to promote another channel on here but thats why i enjoy Modded ATS Mikes videos and lives cause i can relate or even learn something knew to take outside the game. I also enjoy listening to the older generation tell their personal experiences just fascinates me.
Can confirm from google maps, that is what hays has done, I assume to cut main drag traffic lights. There is an article also saying they did this with the explicit plan to build a truck bypass.
@@kristoffermangila OH wow! Thanks for sharing this information! It's fascinating to learn about details like that. Do you know anything specifically about Kensworth or Peterbilt trucks? I only ask because they're personal favorites and I figured it was worth a shot in the dark if you knew anything about them. : )
@@PestilentAllosaurus Kenworth and Peterbilt are brands under PACCAR, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington. The company (originally PACific CAR and Foundry) started out as a manufacturer of railway and logging equipment. Kenworth was purchased in 1945, as PACCAR began to step away from its original activities of railway and logging equipment manufacturing and began to focus more on heavy vehicle manufacturing, which started during WW2 (they built M4 Sherman tanks, as well as the M24 "Dragon Wagon" tank transporter and the humongous T28 Super Heavy Tank during that time). Peterbilt, a keen rival to Kenworth, was bought by PACCAR 9 years later, in 1954. In between, the Dart Truck Company, a specialist truck maker, was purchased in 1954 (Sadly, the Dart brand was retired and sold off by PACCAR, something that would be repeated in the years to come). PACCAR in the 60s up to the 90s pursued a program of acquisitions and divestitures (mostly in underground mining and oil exploration equipment) in an attempt to reduce dependence on the heavy truck market, which was under pressure from rivals like Freightliner, Mack and Volvo. They also acquired several European truckmakers, the first of which was England's Foden Trucks in 1980. Sixteen years later, in 1996, DAF Trucks of the Netherlands was bought, and with it came another British truckmaker, Leyland Trucks (Like what happened to Dart Trucks, Foden was retired along with Leyland Trucks as a brand). Today PACCAR has three active truck brands: Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF. Like many companies in the same industry, they share common components. For example, the MX-series engine is a DAF design, modified for US conditions.
OTR truck driver here and that’s a pretty accurate depiction of hays they recently put all those roundabouts in on the main drag through town. Last time I was through there they were working on a truck bypass from the north side of town to the south side!
That was Hays kansas... and yes, it has a dog bone and 3 or 4 traffic circles in 3/4 of a mile there. I work with the kansas DOT and even they weren't sure why that was the best solution 😂😂 See if you ever have to go through the "double cross over" off of I-70 at junction city... equally bizarre intersection
@mavfin8720 if I remember correctly, I think the double cross over is the same thing... except under the overpass instead of on either end of a overpass.
That's the third time he's said that Hays was in Nebraska. I'm convinced he must've been tired as hell, because there is no way he would've made this same mistake multiple times.
i saw in some of you older vids were you had a face cam and you had a weirs looking white thing on the top of your head and was wondering what the name of it was
I'm not sure what you use for looking around. If you use a mouse, you should attach the Zoom hotkey to it somewhere. You can zoom in on things you are talking about and look at really easy. Also, a real-life trucker or retired trucker review would be pretty cool and a good click bait title from it.
@@JorgeMplays I get what you are saying. That would be awesome to use. Thanks for letting me know that. I guess the hotkey could go on the steering wheel somewhere easy to use.
Im doing this challenge as well. Im using graphics mods and a Ford LTL9000 mod. Other than that I have roughly 30k in the bank and I own peterbilt truck
I'd like to get my dad to play ats. He's a retired trucker. Been trucking longer then I been alive. I'm 41. He's 71. Was on the road when I was born. I love ats . Play it off and on. Been on sense day 1 .
Are there rules you've set for yourself or is the variety of jobs just for content purposes? I only ask because I a! not sure why you're not just doing boom lifts constantly for big money
The truck should be called the pickle Express😂😂
Pickle Express
YES 😂😂

Also The Western Star should be called Wesley!
Yes that is very accurate representation of Hays Kansas. Missing some buildings but roads are very accurate. Those round abouts are a pain in the butt driving a 18 wheeler at times.
I lived in hays for a while, that double round a bout was put in about 3-4 years ago

jake that total drive time isnt to the truck stop . its just combining the extra detour and the main route to the dropoff
Man that would be cool to see what pops would do.
love this series keep it up
Yes I can confirm as a Kansan, in Hays thoes roundabouts do actually exist and they are a damn nightmare.
worst thing hays ever did. traffic is at least 5x worse that it ever was
Agreed!
The interior of a Western Star looks almost the same as the Freightliner Cascadia I used to drive at FedEx...
Considering that Western Star and Freightliner are both brands under Daimler Trucks North America, they share common components.

Wait till Missouri. Spriingfield has a big roundabout and (count'em) six Diverging diamond highway bridges.

how do you get nav across top of screen
They should add Altus to the game.
You got caught by the access road lol, And the basic highway system is quite accurate for Wichita Falls TX
call it Black Stallion.
I live in Hays and can confirm those dumb roundabouts are in fact shaped that way
Fun fact, I got my CDL in Wichata Falls about a decade ago!
Hays, KS, Nebraska is not on the map yet :P
Name the truck PICKLE EXPRESS 😂

Speaking of collabs. I'd love to see you and Jeff get in on some truckin'.
Get pappy on board
$1,000,000 seems like a low number in this game. I've played causally for 80 hours and just one of my garages profits $500+k/week.
We will bump it up after we hit the goal, don't worry :)
Was in Kansas, kept saying Nebraska. Doesn't even have Nebraska as a DLC
name the truck Wes
I cannot believe that a grown adult would do this
Jeffery star
Yeah you should definitely make a video with your dad pickle I've been watching you for a long time that would be nice Peace Out
Nice PFP btw

What about the Name Wessy? Nice Vid wating for more!

These are enjoyable to watch. Hoping for some ATS thumbnails instead of this uncanny AI stuff though.
Working on it, takes time to implement into the workflow. (Also all videos will be getting 3 thumbnails so there are more than one.)
With watching you play ATS it has been making me play more.
What graphics mods are you using??
Lawton has the checkered one for the military base.
Going to fun to see she how with multi player see how funny the videos will be
Love the content Jake! Keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!
Drove by the exit for sheppard afb, where I was at in late ‘99
We’d love to watch papa pickle
Noice as always Pickle
The ai traffic isnt too kind its just bad. It gets scared if you drive out too far on to the road. It really needs a lot of getting used to
