This guy doesn't only have techniques. He has dedication, and good fitness. Off-ice training is just as important as on ice. Using body strength workouts made me skate like never before.
This is my favorite TH-cam video of all time! It is a very professional video with maneuvers executed by an elite level power skater. I actually love the combination of the song specifically with this style of skating. It is very energizing and motivating. I will have videos made in the future that are inspired from this top one. Thank you for sharing. I am a sprinter! This video is an excellent reminder of how beneficial it is to watch ourselves on video so that we are able to immediately perfect the imperfections in our skating.
I was trained with this technique and it really is fantastic..I became one of the best skaters on my team..if not the best. - as a playmaking forward its important stuff to practice/know !
My son's Peewee AAA team skates with him for an hour on Sunday mornings... he's a very likable, approachable guy, and good with the kids... you can see the kids learning new things with each session as he pushes them out of their comfort zone and every week's lesson is fresh & different. My son asked to be signed up for his camp in June and I didn't hesitate. Hope that helps.
Fall, make mistakes, get the feel of your edges. Falling while practicing is good. Falling lets your muscles memorize what movements are required for a certain edge you'll be doing. Eg: Backward c cuts.
When my son played, he skated two summers with Victor at his camp on Long Island, and it was an amazing experience. I can still here the sound of Victor's blades on the ice, it was like thunder. Few people have ever skated like Victor.
Look at the old equipment, skates, etc - old technology and he's skating like modern day pros - AMAZING - a true testament to REAL Talent - something that is timeless and certainly not generational but specific to any individual that possesses it. This guy is incredible.
Umm...I might be wrong but I think he taught lessons at Stamford Twin Rinks for awhile. Has anyone else taken lessons from him? I remember watching him skate around and it was just incredible. If it is him then I hope him all the best, he gave me a really good skating foundation.
I used to be able to skate like that until I busted up my knee, miss the sharp turns, quick stop and starts... he is sick...love watching this video, brigs back good memories.
Well you do raise a good point as many of the pros are wearing the stiffer boots. Many of these players have learned to shift off thier hips in those boots whereas many of the past players shifted off thier ankles. You cannot be as shifty of your hips as you can off your ankles and to shift off your ankles you have to be a better skater. So yes a softer boot in my opinion is better. You need lateral flex but you also have to know how to use them. You can always change the runners to tuuk
@FredTrasnslated He was from Soviet Union time (He was USSR "B" squad player) - by the time USSR collapsed he was too old. Fantastic coach to learn from - for sure.
This is one kick ass skater! And concerning your quarrel down below: Graf skates are the best skates produced. I have tried almost every brand of skates there is/has been in the last 28 years playing ice hockey. The total count of skates i have worn would be around 35-40. And 50% of these were Grafs. And for the last 5 years I'm using Grafs and always will be! Pure Swiss quality, not that composite Bauer-bullcrap made in Asia!
FTW!!! this guy is SICK! i've been playing ice hockey since i was 6 and also many many years of free style,,and i can tell you how f...ing hard it is to have the control this man hass...!
Ill say this a lot of people think skaters of the past 80 90s etc where poor skaters and many where because they did not really know how to use those skates but those talented players who put the time in where wizes far more shiftier than anything you will see today and this guy is living proof of how good you could be. Ill say this you cannot imagine what a feeling that is to skate like he does. If you look closely at most skaters today they are all upright linear skaters
I have been having difficulty with tight turns, and I can not explain why. I was thinking there was something wrong with my blades. I wonder if it will help me stay up if I sit on my heels. I am going to emphasize this technique next time. This really has been bothering me.
@match16 He's wearing graf's with a tuuk steel and housing. Tuuk is the brand for bauer skates. I don't know how he was able to pull that together. Why are power skating instructors always ex-figure skaters?
PS Grafs are not soft skates..They have soft uppers that help with those who are more agile and better able to use them. Composite skaters will turn any ankle bender into a decent looking skater because they are cemented around your ankles. It takes a far more talented player to work with Grafs than it does with any other skate. Like it or not pal thats a fact and Graf is a well known and respected skate manufactuar
so your saying a softer boot is better? seems like everywhere u look they're saying stiffer boots are for pro's or is that just to do with body weight. My only beef with graf (when I owned a pair) was the steel was terrible. Maybe I got a bad pair, I don't know. seems on the forums I was not alot but this was a while back
the most impressive true fact about this video was that this was recorded after weekend nightclub hours, the two drank a full texas mickey of Russian standard vodka.
Dear youngsters that want to be a professional player reading this...you need to focus on technique, speed comes later. You can have all the speed in the world, but withoutt proper technique . You'd have no power in your stride, proper technique enables you to maximize power while skating. You also need to be cardiovascular fit and eat lean proteins. Sleep well, practice technique, practice often. Wish ya the best.
@FredTrasnslated I don’t play hockey myself, but I’d guess that it’s possible for a player to skate as well as the pro’s, but be deficient in stick handling
He asked if he played pro, not if he played like that. And it isn't exhibition type skating, it's excellent to develop proper technique, edge control and agility.
Ya know... I wish I was a better player. I have great shooting ability, pretty good stickhandling and deking ability, but my skating sucks. I'm gonna follow these drills, see if it works. Thanks for the tips.
not sure whats better, the skating, or this kickass late 90s' music
this video is amazing man hahah
Umek
the music wins
Hair wins

I bet the Zamboni operator loves this guy
XD
He *is the Zamboni guy!
I was trained with this technique and it really is fantastic..I became one of the best skaters on my team..if not the best. - as a playmaking forward its important stuff to practice/know !

This guy is so great! Crazy powerful skating style he has!
Coolest video on youtube I swear
This guy is really aggressive on ice I would love to see him in game
best skating drills and video. He is textbook
I want a skating lesson from this guy! WOW.
Fall, make mistakes, get the feel of your edges. Falling while practicing is good. Falling lets your muscles memorize what movements are required for a certain edge you'll be doing. Eg: Backward c cuts.
It all starts with the haircut
you mean hockey stop???
+Leonhard Polixmair no the haircut

I wish I could skate like this
This guy is absolutely ELECTRIC!!
This guy is awesome!! I hope it helps my son with his skating. Skating will allways improve your hockey game.
Umm...I might be wrong but I think he taught lessons at Stamford Twin Rinks for awhile. Has anyone else taken lessons from him? I remember watching him skate around and it was just incredible. If it is him then I hope him all the best, he gave me a really good skating foundation.

This is a fantastic video! Victor's skating is truly amazing.
the tight turns are insane
Sick flow.
I can honestly say this video works.

Ohhhhh yea!!!!! Absolutely going to make these moves at the least! Way toooo motivatted!
@FredTrasnslated

Sounds like a porno soundtrack lol
+Babylon_Kartel LOL!!
I was thinking the same
The music aside, this guy is amazing.
the music is AWESOME
This is one kick ass skater!

A lot of people are clownin' old boy, but dude can skate! Nice drills. Can't hurt to try 'em.
Don't act like it's not his sick flow thats propelling him to such speeds. It all starts up top.
This guy is a freak of nature.
this is fucking serious shit wow i wanna try all this tomorrow lol
Ice hockey is such a cool sport. I wish we played it (more) in the UK.
Honored to have the same pair of gloves as him..
Beast mode [on] off
i love how its sponsered by bauer.. and he had graf skates, easton stick and gloves..
I'd love to see this guy try even one of these moves at those speeds with a puck.
Ill say this a lot of people think skaters of the past 80 90s etc where poor skaters and many where because they did not really know how to use those skates but those talented players who put the time in where wizes far more shiftier than anything you will see today and this guy is living proof of how good you could be. Omg!!! Victor is just unbelievibly & unnaturaly awesome!!! :D
@TheNorthside613 thank you
great video,
I'm gonna buy the DVD
A lot of this is helped by getting as low as he does. Fully grown and his head is about crossbar height.
Probably need to Zam that ice a few times to get rid of those ruts!
Holyshit. This guy makes me wanna skate so bad...I'm terrible, not long started but I'm determined to improve!
Can i please get a copy of this DVD?!
@DermochelysCoriacea try pivoting ur shoulders/chest in the direction your trying to go
That was sick! I wish I could skate like that.
Victor. Eres todo un CHAMPION. (Clack). Como Patinas.
@FredTrasnslated to busy working on his skating to ever touch a puck :)
I got the part about "stroking" and had to stop watching I was laughing so hard
Those ruskies are gifted skaters yo
Who else came before the first minute mark? And I love the ending!
I taught this guy everything he knows. Dude was on double blades before he met me.
look at the powerful horse haunches on this guy, magnificent
You gotta have some sharp-ass skates to skate like that, i'll tell you that much.
@match16 He's wearing graf's with a tuuk steel and housing. Tuuk is the brand for bauer skates. I don't know how he was able to pull that together.
Why are power skating instructors always ex-figure skaters?
he can.
i will ask him to make another video with a puck :)
How does he stay up on those sharp turns at such an angle? I have trouble with this.
Look at all that snow on the ice, proof that he sure is skating powerful.
Mullet is part of uniform
cool i'll check it out
YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOO RIGHT!!!!!

@FredTrasnslated Either he can't stick handle or he didn't want to. Pick one.
@NextGenerationStuff Those are Grafs. Not sure which model. This video looks kinda old...
so your saying a softer boot is better? seems like everywhere u look they're saying stiffer boots are for pro's or is that just to do with body weight. Watch Jeff Skinner (#53 Carolina Hurricanes) skate. That's how a power skater in the NHL does it.
Круто!!!!
look at him go
@phantomowner27 There Grafs!, lol I get your point tho.
The god of skating.
Anyone ever actually attended one of his camps? If so, how was it, and how much did your game improve, do you feel, as a result of it? Thanks.
Мастер!
god i wish i had those skating skills
I heard their working on a new technique in cuba.
Paid for the video ... have yet to receive and that was 3 months ago. Doesn't return phone calls or emails. I JUST WANT THE DVD!
the most impressive true fact about this video was that this was recorded after weekend nightclub hours, the two drank a full texas mickey of Russian standard vodka.
hes really good and fast and i maybe wrong but he doesnt seem to bring his feet back all the way in so he doesnt use his stride to its full potential
I want to see him in a set of totalones or crazy lights.... it would be carnage
@FredTrasnslated
I don’t play hockey myself, but I’d guess that it’s possible for a player to skate as well as the pro’s, but be deficient in stick handling
Don't forget passing, vision, foresight, shooting, etc.
it looks like hes using his stick to help with the turns.. is he?
this guy is crazy good
THESE SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES SHOW THE BEAUTY OF HOCKEY...AND CHECK OUT HIS EXPLOSIVENESS !
Incredible Skating.
indeed
I'm diggin the music
I think that guy is one of the best skaters ever. Did he play pro?
Yes it's more like a Harlem Globetrotters Exhibition type skating huh? Super fancy, fast and low but not game practical
"too agressive ultra demanding style " .... lol.. you do realize these are drills right ?
He asked if he played pro, not if he played like that.
And it isn't exhibition type skating, it's excellent to develop proper technique, edge control and agility.
He played some years in Nhl Los Angeles Kings.
@FredTrasnslated imagine fitting his name on jerseys
some nasty skates dude grafs with black tuuks
Отличное катание у Виктора.В России над катанием мало работают!!!!
very unique
nice vid,the guy is awsome :)
Ya know... I wish I was a better player. I have great shooting ability, pretty good stickhandling and deking ability, but my skating sucks. I'm gonna follow these drills, see if it works. Thanks for the tips.
