Although its a 4 speed gear box, it provides smooth driving experience. It is not a conventional auto, it has computer controlled actuators to change gears. And the RPMs are not very high due to engine configuration. 1ZR-FE engine was designed to provide adequate torque at low rpms while the one for CVT is 1ZR-FBE. I'm getting 12.5 km/l in lahore city driving. On long, it easily gives 16 at 120 km/h speed which has also been confirmed by you in this video. Are these values really poor as you have mentioned? And if the power is enough (as you said, and economy is 13 in city and 16 on long) then why to blame the gearbox which also outputs 0 to 100 in 11.3 seconds (confirmed by many vlogers).
Usually all gear boxes have around 3 power gears and 4th is nearly at 1.0 ratio and then comes over drive gears. In this one, 4th gear is at around 1.0 while first is nearly 3.9. Further, these are augmented by the engine output (horse power vs rpm). Actually, its not the gearbox only, its combination of gearbox and engine.
I've recently bought the same car in special edition. Engine is same in both... At 200 kms total running, it's giving 8.8 in city where my max speed rarely goes to 60 kmph. I think it's still not bad considering the weight of the car and that it's new
@@usamaejazkhanniazi1279 in Lahore, I'm gettinf an average of 12 within city. Its all about driving style. If I go to shopping with all family members and driving fast (more pick) then it gives same. I am also driving 2018 grande, which gives similar or lesser.

Good review but it is not a good car carry on speciealy its gare witch is 4 speed
Whats wrong with that? Its a computer controlled gear box via actuators (not hydraulic). When you drive this car, you will feel the comfortable and powerful drive. Although it may not be as smooth as a cvt, however its provides quite good drive. The engine 1ZR-FE is also specially designed for this transmission. 1.6L for CVT is 1 ZR-FE B.
