It’s so sad. Someone got arrested in SB for trying to start a fire there. smh We’re closer to the Eaton fire - in BP area. It’s much clearer now compared to last week. I hope no one else gets hurt. 😞 Prayers to all that is affected.❤
I used to work for State Farm. Insurance companies lose money when they have to pay out claims. State Farm did the same thing in Florida due to threat of hurricanes. It is almost feels like what is the point of having insurance if they don't pay out when a disaster hits. State Farm pulled out of California becuase it was affecting their profits and yearly bonuses.
These fires are insanity. All the people and wildlife affected by this is depressing. I did hear some heartwarming stories of a dude rescuing a pair of bear cubs with their mother right behind him, though.
I've seen some YTers comment that they know family and friends who have lost their homes. Some that took family and friends in because they had to evacuate. Saw news images that people had to abandon their cars and make a run for it because there was too much traffic. Then their cars got bulldozed out of the way so fire crews could get their trucks up the roads. And people have said the air quality is horrendous. People having their power temporarily shut off when the winds get too high. And now there are reported concerns of possible mudslides in the fire zones. I have liked seeing how businesses and food trucks came together to feed people and first responders/firefighters for free though.

Insurance companies should be nonprofit. Same with hospitals.
