I've also just won 2 more Dinky BBC TV trucks, the broadcasting van and another Bedford mast antenna truck for £18! There are still some bargains to be had on ebay.
The coastguard rescue boat actually fires missiles from the front, and rotates to conceal. The missiles from the alvis striker tank are the same. The investigator was a new concept from gerry anderson featuring live people and puppets. They made a pilot episode but lew grade didn't rate it and it was shelved. The armoured command car and the "gabriel" car were also from that pilot. Because of the success of previous gerry anderson items, Dinky jumped the gun and had moulds made and produced these models. After it was scrapped, they had to re name the models in order to sell them as they were originally named differently.
I did some research after I made the video and it's interesting to know the story behind this strange model. It's a shame The Investigators TV show wasn't commissioned for a full series. If it had been, no doubt Dinky would have sold a lot of the models, and made some money back on their investment in the new tooling.

Still seems strange to release it anyway, as nobody knew what it was meant to be. Maybe some collectors like it, but it didn't appeal to me. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi 👋 Im viewing from New Zealand. Growing up in the 1960s i had a selection of metal diecast toy cars. Dinky , Corgi , and Spot On models. I like the Princess and the Honda sports car is cool with the orange interior and sunroof. Sad about the damage with the Opel. Otherwise it could have been a good model. From Carl.
Thanks Carl. I really like the older diecast models. I grew up with them in the 70s and 80s, so Spot On models were a little bit before my time, but they are really nice and very collectable. I managed to buy a dinky fx4 taxi with jewelled head lights . I know during the run of the taxi earlier ones had jewelled head lights
That's interesting, I didn't know that as I'd only previously seen the ones with cast in headlights. 👍
