Yeah, great idea and being from Marks Adapters it will only cost as much as the original vehicle to buy.

Big fan of LandCruisers and portal axles.
I did a double take when I read your title.
Great job. That is going to be nuts off road.

It would be interesting to see the cost, handling, reliability and overall benefits in the long term, and i suspect this will be out of reach for the everyman..

Looks excellent! Ive ran portals on my favorite Mercedes machines, G Wagen and Unimog’s for years. My only concern is the lower output bearing looks pretty small.
This is really the main thing that has given grief over the years of portal development on the German portals we’ve dealt with.

If only we had these in the States for my 1972 FJ40.

With 35" tyres and 6" lift in the portals, does the kit come with a stepladder so that you can climb in?

I like the Portals, but you don’t need them to run 35”, the tyres can be engineered without Portals. However having a Defender with MaxiDrive Portals I can appreciate them. What are the services intervals on the Mark Adaptor Portals?

While fitting a bigger tyre to the vehicle was one of the reasons, it was not the only reason for this rig. Please contact Mark's 4WD Adaptors with any questions - facebook.com/marks4wdadaptors/

Are those only for 70 series, or can they be used on other Toyotas? And can they replace the double wishbone setup on 4runners, prados and 200 series?

I'm asking myself why Toyota does not import the Land Cruiser to Canada no more? I'm missing my old and trusty 1980 FJ-40!

Very cool product, any details around power loss through the portal gearboxes? Obviously this would be offset by the gear reduction (if running bigger rubber), but still wondering if you have dyno'd or measured?

theres an issue runming 35" tires on the road there? wtf! in the us i could drive a monster truck on the road legally lol, as long as it was based on some vin'd vhicle and had the nessisary brake lights, turn signals etc. actually ive seen things close to monster trucks on the road.
the portal axles are awesome tho! wish they were avalable here....as well as solid axle toyotas.....and diesel toyotas......etc

Why do you say the hand brake (park bake) is a problem in these trucks? I am new to rear disk toyota trucks and I set the hand brake to come on with 4 clicks on a 100 series, and it seems it is tight and shoes are rubbing the drum.

how easy is it to snap that bracket that attaches to the lower part of portal axle ? looks like it would be pretty easy to get it snagged on something ?

Hey Chris, there is only a problem if a vehicle has uncertified modifications. This vehicle's modifications are engineered and certified via approved second stage manufacturers.
